"A charming holiday cottage with the parish church behind, and a field having public footpath access to the side, has riverside walks along the Usk Valley in all directions."
This is a perfect location for a couple, or with children, as I would not recommend the bunk beds in the second bedroom for an adult. Having said that, my 24 year old grandson still managed to sleep well enough! We enjoyed our stay in this quiet and peaceful locality, which offered great value too, during what was the first week of the Easter school holiday time in Wales.

Liz was the most amazing host. Good base for exploring South Wales. Lovely to be in the countryside with a river walk close by. Liz had left us chicken eggs and a fresh bottle of farm milk with the silver top in the fridge. It was delicious and we were super excited to receive it. Fresh garden flowers were on the table when we arrived. Would definitely go back if we every found ourselves in the area again.

The host is very welcoming and helpful.
Some areas we feel could be improved: the sofa is not comfortable, the fridge (which is located within the sitting area) is noisy - we did report this to the owner.
The kitchen is well stocked with anything needed on holiday.
Otherwise we had a very enjoyable stay at Rectory Cottage and explored many places.

Probably ok for 2 adults with small children. Some of the contents looking a little tired (sofa, towels, and some of the pans). Very comfy double bed and excellent shower. Owner very friendly and helpful and lovely part of Wales to explore.

The owner lived in the adjacent B&B and was very welcoming and even offered to do any washing we had. There are chickens that occasionally wander around and the owners friendly dogs come and say hi but then leave you be. The directions to find the property were helpful and it’s location is out of the way and peaceful.

"This was a fantastic place to stay for two of us and our dog - the cottage has everything you might need and is extremely dog friendly."
The double bed is incredibly comfy, the little kitchen is very well equipped, and the courtyard garden (more roomy than it looks) is totally enclosed so we were able to leave the door open all night for the dog without worrying that he'd escape.
The owners are truly delightful - they're always nearby and ready to either help or to share a friendly chat, but they didn't intrude on our privacy at all.
One of our favourite things to do was to drive up to the Foxhunters Car Park at the top of the Blorenge at sunset - it's only a 15 minute drive and the views are spectacular. Beyond that, the Beacons and Black Mountains are all within a 45 minute drive.
A brilliant holiday that we wish didn't have to come to an end. Thank you Liz and Kate! X
