  • "I cannot comment on this as I have cancer and had a relapse a couple of days before we were due to leave."

As it was as short notice booking we couldn't insure against cancellation and therefor lost the booking cost. We did inform the hosts but they never acknowledged our problem, which I thought was a bit rude to say the least. I was aware that we were not entitled to any refund Jim Brown

  • "Cosy, comformable chalet in an excellent central location, close to bars, restaurants and shops but not close enough to be disturbed by noise etc."

The property is situated close to the railway station/line and whilst we were slightly aware of passing trains this did not cause us a problem. The property was well stocked with essentials and the property owner was very quick to respond to a query I raised regarding a minor matter. There are numerous walks either direct from the property or within a short drive. We will certainly consider returning to the property

  • "We had a brilliant week in Aviemore, the location of our little chalet was perfect, 5 min walk to the town, peaceful, beautiful garden and a great pub along the street - The Old Bridge Inn."

We couldn't have picked a better place for the location. The chalet was a great base, we went to Loch Ness, Glenmore Forest, Cairngorm Mountain, Carrbridge, Ardverikie Estate, Castle Roy and had a lovely walk around Rothiemurchus on our last day. The chalet was comfortable, the bedroom was huge and the bed was comfy. Good storage with lots of drawers and wardrobe space. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed although we only really cooked breakfast there. The kitchen cupboards and cutlery drawer need a clean though and old mugs with chips need removing. The shower was good but difficult to set the temperature, there's a knack to it. Wi-Fi was really poor, neither us could stay connected for long so we ended up turning it off, it didn't bother us much as we had 4g but worth bearing in mind that it could be difficult for planning walks/downloading maps if you are relying on the Wi-Fi. The balcony was great, our dog loved sitting out at night but I'm glad he didn't see the chickens and rabbits in the garden every morning! The chalet could do with some modernisation and although it was clean, the light fittings could do with a deep clean, cobwebs around the windows and the kitchen cupboards. They're the kind of things you ignore in your own house until you get around to it so it didn't really bother us. Small improvements such as hand soap and a guest book (I like to see where others have visited and travelled from) would be welcomed. Communication with the host was really easy, her Dad lives next door and is a really amiable, friendly man as well. Overall we had a brilliant week, we were lucky with the weather and would definitely stay here again when we return to Aviemore. A great little find in a stunning part of Scotland.

  • "Great location."

Views over gardens were lovely. Which probably made up for the fact that the facilities were basic and in need of some TLC. Shower for example only gave us cool water. We like to cook, however the kitchen facilities were some what lacking. \And the brush pan and brush need replacing as broken.

Loved opening my bedroom doors in a morning to see rabbits on the lawn. We spent a lot of time on the riverbank behind the chalet just a few minutes walk away. The owner lives in the house next door and is such a lovely man with plenty of knowledge on the surrounding areas. Just a short walk to local amenities with everything you need. Only downside and that is not major is there is only road parking for the chalet, easy enough with one vehicle but we had two, normally the bike would have been in the secure parking at the event, so as I said no real issue for other years when Thunder in the Glens is on. Facilities more than meet expectations, communication with the owner is pleasant and the cleaners did a great job for our arrival. Would we go back definitely :)

Unfortunately we were probably spoilt last year when we stayed in a cottage in Wales. This years stay in aviemore was lovely but the chalet needed a good deep clean especially the bathroom, extractor fans and tiles. In the kitchen it needed a good scrub and the tiles properly cleaned. It was also extremely basic in terms of equipment. Whilst it’s good value and good as a base, a bit TLC would have made it even better. Unlike last years cottage there was nothing in the way of books/games/dvds although this was perhaps due to COVID-19. As I said, a bit loving care would elevate the comfort of the property, nothing could make the area better, it’s just perfect as it is.

The chalet is in a lovely position, but it's always the cleanliness that let's it down it's our 3rd year here and each time I have reported the cleanliness but nothing seems to get done about it! It would be nice to stay here again and come into a clean chalet.

Bathroom was worse with splash back & mirror not clean, sink & pedestol black, also shower inside & out black, long time of hair not cleared, drain cover removed as water filled tray up almost out the shower door. Carpet on stair badly stained as was downstairs bedroom carpet, long time of dogs taking its toll. My husband cleaned cooker hobb, oven door, cleaned out drain in shower so water could drain away.sink & bottom of pedestol. Upstairs was spoiled because of black dog hair on wooden floor. Wir sind nach drei Tagen wieder abgereist und haben reklamiert. Die Eigentümerin zahlte nach anfänglichem Sträuben unsere im Voraus bezahlte Miete anteilig zurück. • "The accommodation was lovely, well situated for the event we were there for (Thunder in the Glens) and already booked for next year."

The shared garden was lovely and the gate at the bottom which lead to a bridge over the burn, into a meadow and then through some trees to the banks of the Spey was a favourite of my two dogs who joined me for the latter part of the booking after the rest of the party had headed home. The big doors to outside from the family room were stuck, probably swollen from the amount of rain in the area this summer but that was a minor inconvenience which we didn't bother the owners with, other than that the accommodation was near perfect, the one thing that was missing for pet owners I think was a fenced off area for the dogs to sit outside (mine are still puppyish so a secure area would have been welcomed), that secure are under the upper veranda would have made the near in 'near perfect disappear'.

There is very easy access to all the amenities Aviemore has to offer and we were never far away from something to do, Rothiemurchus being virtually on our doorstep and the skiing 20 minutes up the road. For walkers there are plenty of routes for all abilities, be those easy strolls around Loch Morlich or for the hardcore, Cairngorm itself. For the scotch drinker the surrounding towns and villages are a mecca, with so many famous distilleries being fed by the Spey river. Everything is easily accesible and well serviced by road (except when the snow gates are closed!). We also took the train and spent a day in and around Inverness, and found the service to be very reliable. All in all we had a fantastic week, doing good things, in a beautiful place with friendly people. What's not to make us come back again?
