  • "Everything was available in the holiday home and we were very satisfied."

A wonderful view of the mountains. It is very clean and very bright. Only the mattresses in the bedroom are too soft.

  • "Superb for a quiet relaxing holiday, and amazing for viewing wildlife and nature - often like being in a wildlife hide, birds and small animals come up so close."

Cottage is all round excellent and would thoroughly recommend.

  • "Such a lovely cosy holiday chalet set in the country."

A perfect base for going day trips to the surrounding areas.

  • "The chalet was bright and airy, more spacious than we expected, and a joy to be in."

A few minor points - we couldn't get the cooker hood to work, so that area of the kitchen was quite gloomy - the towels were rather small for bath towels - the TV was very small, too small to watch from the sofa - No ice box in the fridge, very inconvenient when you need to freeze the ice blocks for picnics etc - nowhere in the shower cubicle to put shampoo/soap/shower gel etc. However, we did have a lovely week there.

  • "We stayed at Meikle conval as we could not book Ben View which we have been to before couple of times."

We know the area so perfect. Lovely cottage very clean and spacious. Very very quiet. Loads of birds in the garden. Only one little thing my husband had to wear a head torch when cooking as the kitchen area is quite dark. Otherwise perfect. Thank you. We will be back!

  • "A nice set up in a lovely part of the glen."

Ben Rinnes as a backdrop and the glen spread out below gave lovely views (when weather permitted ;-)). Our granddaughter was enchanted by the bulls in the next field, and hit us with a barrage of questions. Good communication with the owners and clear instruction on key uplift etc. Plenty of information in the cabin on places of interest and things to do. Would certainly consider a return visit at a different time of the year.

  • "Meikle Conval , a place very beautiful and serene."

Our family absolutely loved the stay. The view of the hills was perfect through the kitchen window. The back patio was a treat for a perfect evening tea with lovely sunshine. Indoor of the cottage was well organized with sufficient furniture. There are few suggestions that we would like to make which can form a constructive feedback mainly we are making from our previous cottage experiences that will make it an ideal family holiday out. Two things we felt that were missed out , 1.A washing machine 2. A dishwasher and 3.Soap / Shampoo holders in the shower rooms.

Sadly I had to leave early to drive back to Plymouth so didn't stay for the full week but hope to return in the future .

  • "Brilliant stay."

Two suggestions. 1 egg cups 2 notepad and pencil if no more than to stop our foreign visitors from using the oven instructions as a score pad for a card game.

  • "We had a lovely stay at Meikel Cottage."

Helen was very welcoming and helpful. Contemporary style was good and very cosy heating. The memory foam mattress on the double bed was not what we would normally have but we coped with it. Thank you.

About the location

DUFFTOWN

Elgin 20 miles; Aviemore 46 miles; Aberdeen 50 miles: Inverness 56 miles.

Dufftown is situated in the heart of Speyside in north east Scotland and is a thriving and lively small town. It is also right on the Malt Whisky Trail and the old saying goes, “Rome was built on seven hills, Dufftown stands on seven stills”. There are now nine distilleries in the area so a spot of whisky tasting is a must, unless you are the driver of course! Apart from the distilleries it is easy to access the world famous salmon fishing of the Strathspey area and permits can be obtained locally. Dufftown has an 18-hole golf course complete with breathtaking scenery and guests are made very welcome. In the winter months staying in the area provides great value for skiers and snowboarders as it is only a 50 minute drive to the Lecht ski slopes and Aviemore is an hour or so away, plus The Cabrach is a ‘Dark Sky Designated Area’ which is ideal for astronomers.
