    Jane was very welcoming and couldn't do enough to help. Really enjoyed the pool/hot tub. Cabin was really warm and cosy.

The property

Moss of Bourach lies within a 54 acre sheep croft of pasture and woodland, surrounding a beautiful and environmentally significant and rare raised peat bog on the edge of Aberlour, Moray, with magnificent views to Ben Rinnes and the twin Conval Hills.

Enjoying luxurious high quality contemporary features, a large garden and a 17 foot swimming pool/large hot tub for watching the starry sky, this one-bedroom pod is perfect for a couple; it will also suit a young family or up to two additional guests, utilising the two full-size single sofa beds in the sitting/living area.

You will find off-road parking on arrival and an accessible path leading to your holiday home.

Enter the open-plan living space, with a white-glossed kitchen area hosting all the appliances for a self-catered stay, including electric oven, hob, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, fridge/freezer, washing machine dryer, dishwasher, and boiling tap for cooking and hot beverages.

Savour mealtimes together at the dining table for up to four or make it an alfresco affair to enjoy the countryside backdrop over a glass of wine.

Take a dip in the large spa hot tub, which is accessible for those with limited mobility; afterwards you can rinse off in the wet room. Relax on the plush sofa whilst the Smart TV plays a film and when sleep calls, there is a super-king-size bedroom (zip/link) with ample storage and massage bed feature if desired.

Begin the day with a hot beverage in the garden and let the morning sunshine waken you before exploring your surroundings around the croft.

Take advantage of the proximity to the famous salmon fishing River Spey for a scenic walk, or cycle along the Speyside Way, and be sure to see the historic Ben Rinnes Distillery, which was founded in 1826 with its iconic tall red chimney.

In the heart of Speyside there are numerous famous distilleries to explore; for walkers, a path starting up Ben Rinnes is nearby, and the lovely Lynn Waterfalls are also close by to the old packhorse bridge in the village.

Aberlour is a charming little town located in the heart of Scotland's Speyside region, famous for whisky, Walkers shortbread, and salmon fishing.

The town and vicinity is home to a variety of attractions, including the Speyside Cooperage, numerous famous distillery tours, and the attractive Aberlour Victoria Bridge, and nearby Craigellachie (Telford) Bridge over the River Spey.

There is a salmon smokehouse and choice of miniature or steam railway and Moravia Aviation as well as magnificent Ballindalloch Castle and grounds to enjoy along with a number of local golf courses.

Fishing on the Spey is sought after and there is also trout fishing close by.

Within easy reach of the Cairngorms or Lecht for skiing and hill walking and also beautiful child friendly and open beaches along the dolphin famous Moray Firth, Moss of Bourach is a fabulous central location for rural fun and exploration.

Venture to the city of Elgin, home to the Elgin Cathedral, which is a stunning example of Gothic architecture, as well as the Duffus Castle, which is a beautiful medieval castle.

Where you’ll be staying

ABERLOUR

Elgin 15 miles.

The pretty town of Aberlour lies on the banks of the River Spey, and is surrounded by wonderful open countryside, with the Cairngorm Mountains on one side and the Moray Firth coast on the other. Noted for its presence on the Whisky Trail and for Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival visitors will be stunned to realise that there are 50 whisky distilleries within a 15 mile radius of the town. Many of these distilleries are well worth a visit as they have excellent visitor centres with plenty of tasting on offer. The area is a magnet for fishermen with the River Spey so close by, whilst walkers will certainly appreciate the fabulous walks and wildlife they will encounter en route through the Speyside Way, one of the four official Long Distance Routes in Scotland. Aberlour is a great base for exploring this region of Scotland.
