  • "We had a lovely time in Aldeburgh and Holmleigh cottage was a great base."

It’s a cosy, characterful little cottage and has everything you need for a break away. The kitchen was well-equipped and there was a great welcome pack with some lovely local produce in it. The cottage is just down the road from a small Tesco and a Co Op which is useful. Parking is on street outside the cottage, we didn’t have any problem finding a space outside. There is a pleasant walk to town through the park which you can access down the side of Tesco - it’s about a 15 minute stroll to the high street. Thank you for a lovely stay!

  • "A very clean and comfortable holiday let."

Bright and airy decor. The kitchen was very well appointed with everything that was needed. The back garden was excellent for the dogs and a nice place to sit. The stairs are steep with a sharp twist at the bottom and may not suit people with mobility issues.

  • "Lovely place, well-appointed and very well equipped."

The only slight negative was that bloody front gate!

Thanks! Glad to hear everything went well. Except maybe the gate - we will check on that. Property Owner

  • "A lovely stay in Aldeburgh."

We always stop in this cottage which is lovely and a real home from home. Thank you for the lovely gifts of food and drinks that were left for us and the surprise that arrived on Saturday. Our dog loved her treats so thank you for thinking of her. I was hoping to book for next year but the dates not released as yet.

Thanks for these kind words: we're glad everyone enjoyed their stay, including your dog! (Bookings for next year are also now open; thanks for flagging this up.) Property Owner

  • "Wonderful and cosy house that made for a memorable short break away."

Clean and well stocked with a lovely welcome gift (even the our little dog had a small treat for Easter), and close to all of the amenities and Aldeburgh walks. Even got a phone call from Best of Suffolk to let us know that the property would be available earlier than the stated check in time if we wanted to arrive sooner, which helped us avoid the Easter traffic. Would love to stay again, 10/10!

  • "This is a lovely terraced property in the wonderful town of Aldeburgh."

Nicely decorated with everything you could want. Close to 2 supermarkets, Tesco and the Co-op, and just along the road from the Railway pub. Its a short drive into the town centre for some great cafes, restaurants and pubs, including the famous Aldeburgh Fish and Chip shop. The beach walk from Aldeburgh to Thorpeness is a must, especially if you have a dog.

  • "Lovely little cottage."

A brand new kitchen had just been fitted when we visited and it was spot on. We had a lovely week and would recommend the cottage and the area to anyone.

  • "Property was clean, comfortable and as advertised."

Aldeburgh is lovely and we’ll definitely visit again. However, we had a couple of admin issues (which might be down to Sykes with whom we booked). We’d asked for a cot, stair gate and high chair to be provided when we booked and we rang the second contact number provided by Sykes via email the day before who confirmed these had been requested and would be provided. However when we arrived none of these had been set up - we managed to find them in a cupboard and set them up ourselves but took some time - the stair gate in particular was fiddly and a bit insecure but necessary as the stairs are very steep and we have a two year old. The first contact number (mobile) provided by Sykes seems to be incorrect; no one responded to that one despite several messages and it was different from the one in the welcome folder when we arrived. So I think there is some miscommunication between Sykes and the property owner which needs to be resolved. However, overall the property was good and we had a very enjoyable stay.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are very sorry that the baby equipment was not put out for your arrival. There was an error in communication and we will endeavour to ensure this not repeated. We will look at the stairgate to ensure all is working correctly and will revise the welcome file to update information and make sure this is all correct. Thank you again for your feedback and hope you enjoyed your stay at Holmleigh. Property Owner

  • "As described by other reviewers this cute house is very well supplied with everything one might need, well equipped kitchen, plenty of towels, instant hot water etc."

It was just warm enough while we there to sit outside in the tiny garden for before dinner drinks and we even used the parasol on one occasion. It's also handy for Tesco and the Coop if you want to shop on arrival. We used the beach fish shacks every day as we love fish. On the down side, the property is beginning to need maintenance. A leaking tap in the kitchen has caused the oak worktop to be stained with black mould and the same worktop is showing signs of wear near the cooker. The undercounter fridge/freezer took two days to cool down fully and the shower mixer is very stiff. The note in the shower blames limescale but this appears to be a soft water area. In addition one of the bedside reading lights was faulty and we struggled with the Roman blind. One final note, the staircase is narrow and steep and so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

  • "The cottage was cosy and extremely comfortable."

Even though it is a terraced house and on a road it was very quiet. It was beautifully decorated and modern. It had everything you could possibly need, even a tumble dryer which we needed to use after getting caught in a downpour! The cottage was immaculately clean. The beds were comfortable and the white bedding and towels felt clean and crisp. The outside garden area was well maintained and a lovely space to sit in in the evening sunshine. The wine and chocolate biscuits as a welcome gift was a nice touch.

  • "Thank you for the welcome gift."

The wine was splendid, the mince pies delicious and the chocolate bicuits a treat. Everything about the house indicated hospitality and thoughtfulness: Christmas decorations, chocolates on the beds, thick towels, crisp bedding, beautiful art on the walls and oh-so-comfy armchairs that were perfect for reading by the fire (good chimney - no smoke!). The house was lovely - there was nothing lacking. We had a good break and would definitely like to visit again. Just one thing to note is that the kitchen tap is dripping and the surrounding wood is being damaged.

The property

Boasting a superb setting close to the centre of Aldeburgh, Suffolk, Homleigh offers well-presented accommodation which is ideal for a family holiday.

The property is the perfect holiday destination whatever time of year it is, with the sitting room providing a warm and welcoming space and the addition of a feature open fire helping to take the edge off the chill in the winter months.

If the weather is warmer, then there is a fantastic outside courtyard garden with a table and chairs set up ready for the adults to enjoy time alfresco whilst children (and a pet!) can enjoy the space and fresh air.

When it’s time to eat, the designated chef can make their way to the fully fitted kitchen where they will find everything needed to produce hearty food for the whole family and there is a door opening onto the courtyard at the rear, so when the food is ready to serve up, if the weather allows, you can serve up outside.

If it’s not quite warm enough, then the dining room is all set up leading off from the kitchen with a rustic dining table and large, west-facing windows helping to allow the light flood in and creating a really sociable space.

Come bedtime and the children’s bunk bedroom offers a really cool space while the double bedroom gives the grown-ups the chance to rest in a room with a truly relaxing vibe.

Grab a quick shower or a relaxing soak in the bath in the morning and you’re good to go.

Within a short walk is the town of Aldeburgh which has a beach, a museum and a great selection of shops and eateries, so you can easily while away a day here.

Head a little further down the coast and you can check out places such as Thorpeness, Walberswick and Southwold, all picture-postcard seaside settings and perfect for a beach day out.

Jump in the car for a scenic drive to attractions such as Snape Maltings, home of the famous Aldeburgh Music Festival, Framlingham Castle, Sutton Hoo, RSPB Minsmere and Africa Alive Zoological Reserve.

Offering a stylish and relaxing home-from-home, Holmleigh is the perfect holiday destination.
