  • "Comfortable well thought out apartment , this was our second stay here and would happily return ."

Very peaceful location but so close to town and the beach . Lovely walk on the beach to Thorpeness

  • "The stay at the flat was as good as usual."

I was lucky to get the no-mans land to park for most of my stay but it still remains difficult to keep avoiding the traffic wardens. Bob's quick attention to the functions of the TV was much appreciated, although we never quite mastered it .

  • "In the middle of lively Aldeburgh with many good restaurants."

Accommodation was excellent but in the shower/bath it would be useful to have a ‘grab rail’ as there are only the edge of the bath and the door handle to hold onto when getting out. Very much enjoyed our stay - especially watching the team triathlon on the Sunday!

Glad you had a nice time and thank you for the grab rails comment, I’ll get that sorted. Fab day for the Triathlon, glad you enjoyed it. A record day for us with three course records and two teams under an hour. Grab rail is now in Property Owner

  • "The washing machine is advertised as having a drier but it doesn’t, there is no obvious way of operating the heated towel rail and the front door lock is in need of some attention."

Although I was able to open and lock the door my wife was unable to turn the key herself.

Thank you for your comments. Sorry the description was misleading to the washing machine, we had a washer dryer which had its problems and the description was not changed. The door lock is only a month old so I’ll get on that now. The towel radiator turns off outside the door above your head, I’ll make that clearer. Kind Regards Rob Property Owner

  • "Fantastic stay in a lovely property."

Beautifully maintained, clean and provided everything needed as well as a few extras which were much appreciated. Location was brilliant for the town and beach area. Would definitely stay again

  • "Loved the appartment."

Had a great time. Would happily return. Practical feedback … The front door lock only opens about every other attempt.. the lock stays very slightly out on the alternate attempts…. I just wonder if eventually it may not open ? The washing machine says in the book that it is a washer dryer which it isn’t as far as I could tell

  • "Pied a Mer is beautifully appointed and ideal for two people."

The facilities provided are excellent and beyond what might reasonably be expected. The provision of deck chairs and a wind break, for example, was kind and thoughtful. Similarly, finding milk and biscuits made us feel hugely welcome. I cannot recommend this highly enough. We will certainly seek to book again.

  • "I have stayed at Pied a Mer before and love it."

It is so central to all that Aldeburgh has to offer yet private and quiet. The only tiny negative (which is nothing to do with the property) is the need to move the car because of the local parking restrictions however it is not difficult and I have never failed to park nearby. I will definitely return.

  • "Lovely homely apartment close to beach, town, pubs and restaurants of Aldeburgh ."

..everything very clean and modern with comfy bed and great shower....non stop hot water for the bath too! Parking fairly easy just outside although be aware to move your car before 11am to save a parking ticket ..or there's lots of spaces on the roads above the town steps...loved our stay

The property

This 1st first floor self-catering Aldeburgh holiday let is situated just off the High Street on Crabbe Street, very close to the beach and the owners have thoughtfully provided deck chairs so you can treat the nearby beach as your adopted garden.

There's an open plan kitchen/living room, a bedroom (king size) and a bathroom, just the perfect size for two by the seaside. The front door leads to a small hallway and stairs up to the first-floor open plan kitchen/living room. Kitchen/Living Room The living area has a three-seater sofa, a large coffee table, a TV with FreeSat channels, and a DVD player.

But best of all is that view that we've already mentioned, it's a colourful medley of partial sea views, fishermen's boats, red brick buildings, rooftops, historic buildings, and shops.

You can even see whether there's a queue to buy freshly caught fish from the black painted fisherman's hut on the beach. The kitchen area has a granite worktop incorporating a breakfast-bar style dining area, with two high bar chairs and a wooden floor.

Appliances include an electric hob and oven, a slimline dishwasher, a microwave, a fridge with a freezer compartment, and a washing machine. Bedroom There's a hotel quality Vi-Spring super king bed with White Company bedding including goose down pillows and duvet.

There are bedside tables, a chest of drawers, a large built-in wardrobe and cream carpet.

A large window looks out across the High Street. Bathroom There's a bath with a shower over it, a hand basin, a w.c.

and a heated towel rail. Outside On-road parking can often be found in nearby side streets.

Access to the beach is across the road on the other side of the pay and display car park.

About the location

ALDEBURGH

Thorpeness 2.1 miles; Saxmundham 7.2 miles.

The popular, vibrant seaside town of Aldeburgh is famous for its culture, traditional feel and one of the best fish and chip shops in the country! Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings are home to one of the world’s greatest music festivals and has been named as one of the top 50 places to live in Britain. Crag Path runs along the seafront dividing the beautiful pebbly beach from the unspoilt pastel-coloured seafront properties and the town. The beach is a popular place for groups and couples to enjoy the wonderful fish and chips throughout the summer months. The town is steeped in history and has become a wonderful town for shopping with a good mixture of independent and chain stores to enjoy. The town also offers a good selection of pubs and restaurants or why not buy some freshly caught fish from the huts on the seafront and cook up your own feast at home. For those wishing for a more action-packed holiday there is excellent walking, cycling, sailing and golf at Aldeburgh. Growing in popularity you will want to return to Aldeburgh again and again!
