  • "Lovely house in a great location with easy, quick access to the town and beach."

Very comfortable stay which could be improved with better quality beds. Otherwise a great house in a great location.

Thank you for your comments although we are disappointed by the first negative feedback on the quality of the beds, all are the beds are John Lewis premium range and we have recently replaced three of the single mattresses again with premium specification. Property Owner

The house is immaculate and we were very impressed overall. We will definitely be returning!

  • "This is a lovely house that we have visited many times."

The 5 bedrooms precisely meet our needs. The house is warm and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. One minor point, we spent more time on this visit sat on the sofas in the kitchen/living room. A coffee table here would have been useful so that we didn't put mugs on the floor. Thanks

Thanks for your positive feedback - we have now added a coffee table in both the lounge and the kitchen / living area Property Owner

  • "We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the downstairs floors, which were very dirty."

The response from BOS was good, but not a good start. Some pots, oven trays and utensils were left dirty/greasy from previous occupants. Again, the owner sent new trays right away, but not a good start to have to wash up before we started preparing a family meal. Finally, the toilet in the ground floor and master bedroom in floor 2 take an age for the cistern to refill. A maintenance man fixed the en suite, but the ground floor bathroom needs attention also. Outside of the property, we felt all bushes and shrubs needed a cutback and were overgrown. We are repeat bookers with BOS and want a luxury holiday home when we are in holiday. This holiday has left us looking at different options for next year I am afraid.

This has been the first cleanliness complaint and lowest score we have received in many years of owning the property and for that we can only apologise. We do endeavour to provide a luxury experience as this is our family holiday home. Our cleaning company attended as soon as the issue was raised and cleaned the floor area in question. It is incumbent on guests to leave pots and pans clean or in the dishwasher and again as soon as this issue was highlighted new baking trays were delivered within 24 hours. Regarding the cisterns our plumber has attended the property and all cisterns fill within one minute, the filling siphon on the ground floor cistern has been replaced as it was the slowest. Bushes and shrubs are regularly maintained and the next garden trim is at the end of this month. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful house."

We were very sad to leave. Very well equipped and great location. Our only comments would be the lack of storage space in the bedrooms and no communal shower. But we will definitely be coming back again.

  • "Seashells was a fantastic holiday home with everything you could want to make your stay as comfortable as possible."

The house itself was spotlessly clean and everything had been thought of by the owners. The location was fab, a 5 minute walk to the beach and Aldeburgh town. Would definitely recommend and will return.

  • "Beautiful and spacious house."

Plenty of room for all 7 (and our dog) of us that stayed. We came away for my best friends 10th wedding anniversary that was on NY Eve. Had a great time in Aldeburgh itself but spent almost all of the break within the four walls of Seashells. A lovely house and we were very happy with our choice. Highly recommended.

  • "It was a great place to stay for us all, if I had to criticise anything it would be the oven and the appliances are looking a bit tired the dishwasher door no longer remains open and the fridges are broken in places."

Cooking for 7 adults was a stretch because the small oven didn’t have many trays or dishes that fitted. My daughter in law was the chef and she found it a difficult thing to juggle for Christmas lunch.

  • "Great place to stay, beautiful home, well equipped with plenty of space."

Only downside is the parking for only one car but we did manage to park further down the road.

Thank you for your kind comments. The property can actually accommodate one car parked on the drive and one car parked carefully on the path by the wall in front of the property, ensuring it does not block our neighbours drive. Property Owner

Park off-road and marvel at the beautiful exterior of this property, before finding your way into one of the two sitting rooms, one separate and housing a gas fire to warm your feet and the other part of the open-plan living area, where you can recline with a glass of wine and plan the day ahead of you.

The living pace is truly stunning, with plenty of seating, a dining table and granite work surfaces in a kitchen outfitted with every amenity needed to cook up a storm.

Five bedrooms offer a place to cosy down for the night, each with fresh and stylish décor to match the rest of the property and each with storage, beginning with a king-size with splashes of purple, a TV and an en-suite, a twin and a single both close to the family bathroom where you can enjoy a soak amongst the bubbles or a relaxing shower, and there are two more bedrooms on the second floor, a king-size with an en-suite and another single, leaving you spoilt for choice.

The garden is delightful, with seating allowing guests to read outside with a cup of tea and enjoy the sound of the birds, or have your evening meal in the sunshine, whilst your four-legged friend rests beside you.

The local area of Aldeburgh is one with many attractions to explore, beginning with local independent shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés selling home made goods, and of course there is a fantastic pebble beach just a short walk from the property where you can enjoy a family picnic, a swim or your favourite watersports, and your pet is sure to love the stretches of coastline too!

Countryside and coastline walks are available at the Snape path and Haven Nature Reserve, where you may be lucky enough to spot some wildlife, and there is a local museum and cinema where you can explore the history of Aldeburgh and then catch up on the latest blockbuster.

About the location

ALDEBURGH

Thorpeness 2.1 miles; Saxmundham 7.2 miles.

The popular, vibrant seaside town of Aldeburgh is famous for its culture, traditional feel and one of the best fish and chip shops in the country! Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings are home to one of the world’s greatest music festivals and has been named as one of the top 50 places to live in Britain. Crag Path runs along the seafront dividing the beautiful pebbly beach from the unspoilt pastel-coloured seafront properties and the town. The beach is a popular place for groups and couples to enjoy the wonderful fish and chips throughout the summer months. The town is steeped in history and has become a wonderful town for shopping with a good mixture of independent and chain stores to enjoy. The town also offers a good selection of pubs and restaurants or why not buy some freshly caught fish from the huts on the seafront and cook up your own feast at home. For those wishing for a more action-packed holiday there is excellent walking, cycling, sailing and golf at Aldeburgh. Growing in popularity you will want to return to Aldeburgh again and again!
