  • "Sadly the gate locking bolts still not safe, saw this on previous reviews."

The gates blow open as not able to fix them in place. With dogs or children this could be a safety issue. There were no teaspoons in The cutlery drawer. So we used the children’s plastic spoons. Not ideal. This did not spoil our holiday. The property was ideal with a disabled lady and all on one level. The furnishings and bed linen and towels were lovely. The beds and seating comfortable. The garden facilities were good too. If the weather had been drier I think we would have loved sitting and eating out there. Well placed for visiting the south and east of Suffolk.

.The only downside was I couldn’t get a WiFi signal in the en suite room and like to speak to family in the privacy of my room x Would benefit from a WiFi booster . Apart from the WiFi problem had a great stay

  • "The garden is a mess."

More weeds than grass. I appreciate it’s been dry up there but that’s no excuse. The back of the house is filthy with cobwebs and there are substantial overhangs from the trees behind the house. Could be a problem with kids.l mentioned all this last year and the year before. Yes this was our third consecutive stay. There won’t be anymore. The soap dispenser in the en-suite doesn’t work, as the bottles have fitted such it is only possible extract a minuscule amount each push. The major fault was the gate. The catch is bent, so it flicks, which in turn make difficult to pull the bolt back. You have to lift the other gate to pull back the bolt anyway. The two “bolts” the are meant to secure the gates to ground, don’t. There are no metal rings in the ground to secure them. When windy the “secured” gates blew open; even the top bolt came out. The house is meant to be pet friendly, which l would suggest should also mean safe for pets. To have a gate that can blow open, when there could be a dog in the garden, next to a busy road, is a disgrace. We bound a bicycle chain lock to make the gate secure. Do the owners ever inspect the property, or is that your responsibility? I would have thought that the cleaners would have mentioned it. Thankfully, we managed to have a great holiday, the weather was kind and house interior is fine.

  • "Great holiday property."

Very spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Good quality touches. The outdoor area and all the sports equipment was very popular with the children especially. A safe space with ample parking available. The house was set back from the main road, behind two other houses, this was not clear from the listing information

  • "The change of level from the slope to the front door to the patio area is dangerous."

My wife nearly fell and it could have been very serious had we not caught her. Coming from the front door to the patio in bright sunshine there is no way you can see the drop as the slabs are the same colour.

  • "I have already recommended this property to my friends and family, who are looking to book it."

I only marked down the cleanliness by one as there were several spiders webs inside. I am tall so see the high up ones. The outside also has a lot, we cleaned the doors as they were in there too. All in all a minor thing as the property was very well equipped and spacious. The beds were comfortable and the furnishings all quality.

  • "Excellent customer service from your colleagues who were really helpful and efficient after i enquired about whether we could take 2 dogs to the cottage."

The place was fabulous - stylish, comfortable and in a lovely location. Only one suggestion- just some more hooks on backs of doors or towel rails for the sumptuous bath sheets to hang from when not in use!

  • "This property is above all others we have stayed in."

The quality of the fixtures and fittings were very high spec and nothing had been over looked. We were a party of 6 and two were 87 and 86 and the little touches of shower mats and stool, wide walkways and one level living made our stay stress-free. Loved the big towels, the welcome gift and oh course the kitchen. Great position for days out and lovely restaurants nearby

Spacious, well presented and well equipped. Comfortable and enjoyable stay. Many good places to go in local area and two Magpies bakery never failed to deliver good treats! Plenty of good walks from house either to town, to beach, into town or to Snape Malting.

  • "A lovely bungalow, very comfortable and well equipped."

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only downside was the front door, which is in need of serious attention (previously mentioned in feedback posted in June 2023 & surely the cleaners should have reported this to the owners?). But, we used the french doors in the living room instead. Aldeburgh is a lovely place, and we hope to return to this property next year.

  • "The negative for F&M is because:- 1."

the exterior of the house needs a really good clean, especially round the back which is dirty and covered in cobwebs. I get that it’s not a space that most people would use but that’s no the point. 2. Also the grass is more weeds than grass. 3. Finally, the front door is difficult to open and lock properly. This was our third visit to this property and we love it, the interior is great, it was as usual immaculate upon arrival, so well done cleaners!

  • "Fabulous cottage would definitely recommend or come back."

The only reasons I’m not given it 5 stars are - the sealant around the bottom of the en suite shower room is need refreshed, the sun umbrella stabilisers need fixed and it could do with an outdoor area for drying clothes given it a massive garden if your staying for a week or two the washing is great but when the weather is so nice it would be great to hang washing out. Please don’t think I’m complaining this is not a compliment it’s what stop me giving 5 stars. We had a fabulous holiday and we had everything we needed for a great holiday. Garden great and full secure for children and dogs. Kitchen very well equipped. Bedrooms beautiful and comfortable the remote control fans a great idea. Have a separate WC from en suite and family bathroom is great. The patio area is lovely but it changes heights when it joins the path a bit of a trip hazard so we just put the wicker stools at the area to remind us of the height change. Great location and it’s been well thought out to have a great holiday.

Very comfortable & relaxing for all of us. Our older dog enjoyed rambling in & out of the house without a step to contend with. Trips out to RSPB Minsmere, boating on The Meare & Snape Maltings. A few walks to beach on the scenic route across Haven Nature Reserve with ice creams/coffee at the boating pond. And fish & chips of course

Previously not needed the heating. We arrived on a cold rainy March day, very tired. Unfortunately the heating was not working, temperature was 17 and there was no info as to how the heating worked. This was upsetting especially for my husband who is on blood thinners since his stroke. Agent from Best of Suffolk did bring us supplementary heating on the Sunday. She was very helpful. thank you

The property

Offering guests the best of both worlds: a tranquil setting with plenty of outside space and yet within a short distance of the vibrant seaside town of Aldeburgh in Suffolk, Woodland Lodge promises guests a holiday to remember.

Ideal for a family or group of family and friends together, the holiday cottage is superbly presented and a particular feature is the extensive gardens which are really unusual in a property so close to the centre of town.

As well as a large patio area at the front, there are secluded, fully enclosed gardens to the rear which are perfect for any little guests to run around safely and securely while the grown-ups can relax and enjoy chilled out time drinking and dining alfresco.

You can imagine spending many hours out here really getting into the holiday vibe.

The interior of the property isn’t too shabby either, with a bright and airy open-plan layout, helping to create a real feeling of light and space.

Whether you want to enjoy each other’s company and curl up in the ample seating area in front of the attractive woodburning stove, or if you’d rather tune in and zone out watching some fantastic TV or films, Woodland Lodge has got it covered.

If you’re feeling hungry then the fully fitted kitchen awaits which has everything needed to create hearty food for the family and with stunning bi-folding doors opening onto the patio next to do the indoor dining area, you can take your pick whether you want to dine inside or outside.

Both lend themselves to long, lazy meals together enjoying catching up on holiday tales, so the choice is yours!

When it’s time for bed, guests can decide between the fabulous master bedroom or two equally well-presented bedrooms, either a double or a twin.

All the bedrooms offer a calm and relaxing space which is perfect for resting weary heads after a tiring day of getting out and about exploring.

Talking of getting out, there is so much to see and do in the area, it’s hard to know where to begin.

Take a stroll into Aldeburgh which has a great selection of shops and amenities as well as a pebbly beach and what it’s best known for – its range of brightly-coloured beach huts.

Aldeburgh Golf Club is nearby if you fancy getting into the swing of a game and the picturesque village of Thorpeness is also close, which is well worth a visit.

Jump in the car for attractions such as Snape Maltings, Glemham Hall, Framlingham Castle, Oasis Camel Park and Somerleyton Hall.

If it’s all about the beach for you, then grab a bucket and spade and head to Southwold, Dunwich, Walberswick or Thorpeness.

For a truly relaxing family holiday close to Aldeburgh, book a visit to Woodland Lodge.
