  • "The large bed upstairs was extremely low and a struggle to get off if you are older."

The cottage was great other than this. We would not stay there again purely because of this bed.

  • "The property is well placed and could be ideal."

However it is basically tired and unloved. Also the garden was neglected and full of weeds. Definately not worth the price paid. Also to contact Sykes upon our return by phone was very difficult. We are not impressed.

  • "A lovely cottage, well situated for exploring the area."

Lovely garden, which was a sun trap in the afternoon. Lovely village with a great bakery - very popular, so goods sell quite quickly. Whilst there was a comfortable sofa, the other chairs were practical rather than comfortable. However, it didn't spoil the break. I would recommend the cottage for a holiday stay.

  • "A lovely little cottage."

Super location with beautiful walks straight from the door. Almost everything you would like from a short break, being very knit-picking, could do with a coffee machine, and Netflix is locked for children only. However, as said that is very knit-picking and we had a wonderful stay and would love to come back, however, as we are going to get another Rhodesian Ridgeback and the cottage only allows for 1 dog, we will, unfortunately, have to look elsewhere.

  • "Such a beautiful cottage, very clean and tidy everything was great."

The location was perfect. We took a small dog and the garden was very secure. Orford is a very special place with lots of history, we would come back in a heartbeat. Thank you

  • "Disappointed this time."

No toilet rolls in downstairs loo (embarrassing), no hot water (followed instructions to switch on but not available for showers when we arrived), no complimentary milk in fridge (cup of tea always essential after journey). Complimentary wine and biscuits appreciated, but no milk so no tea with the biscuits! Little things but irritating. AH

Plumber arrived on fifth day. Sleep interrupted. Customer services only accessed through Owner's local representative. Partial refund offered but holiday spoiled. Log burner pleasant during cold evenings, main bedroom comfortable. Orford lovely as always.

Liked the big bed upstairs and lashings of hot water especially when we returned from wet and windy October walks.

  • "The exterior of the property is in need of redecoration."

Small things need attention, such as the shower control at ground floor (so difficult to operate), cord needs replacing to the over sink light. If 4 stay, the additional chairs are very uncomfortable as the cushions are worn, and the floor rug slides everywhere! This is a lovely cottage in a brilliant location, it is a shame to see it deteriorate. Cleanliness is great. Just a few small improvements would be appreciated by guests.

  • "As the cottage is dog friendly, a fixed gate on the entrance would be beneficial, rather than dragging a piece of trellis across."

  • "Overall, we greatly enjoyed the location of Vesta Cottage."

The photo of the lounge area appeared larger in the photo. The photo of the garden was also a little misleading- it is actually a side area of garden, which could have been given more TLC - especially the garden table and chairs. The property was smaller than I expected for 4 people. Would have liked to have been able to open the front and side windows in the lounge. The kitchen was v well equipped. There needs to be a sign on the recycling bin, reminding that glass cannot be recycled.

  • "Property in a lovely position and beds comfortable."

Initial impression was good with full range of items required available. There is a washing machine available if required also in cupboard at top of stairs which is not shown as available at property. Was disappointed that grass had not been cut prior to arrival and was overgrown as had not been cut for a while it appeared. We did not use area until gardener had been on Monday. Garden table and relaxing chairs need some TLC. Oven shelving had also not been cleaned for some time so put us off using this facility to a great extent. Bathroom window had been left open prior to arrival with the result that there were many insects in the bathroom. Some sort of fly screen would be good on the window to prevent this Prior to leaving we cleaned with the hoover available but then the room smelt of wet dogs. Think the filter and bags could need changing.

  • "Very well stocked property."

Cosy and comfortable. Just two things which would make it 5*: The doors on both bedrooms don't shut properly. The piece of trellis in the garden to make it dog proof was a nightmare. It fell down in the wind and had nails protruding which could easily catch your fingers. Why not put a proper gate there? It would be easy to fix as there is support on one side. Otherwise a lovely little cottage with a sweet garden to sit in.

The cottage is warm and welcoming and spotlessly clean and is perfect for 4 people. It is generally a very well equipped cottage but could do with a few more smaller plates as there were only 4 and at times they were all in the dishwasher.

The problem i have now is that i am disabled and find the downstairs toilet to low for me also the chair in the living room. Also the shower has no support rail. I know these things may not be a problem for many people using the downstairs bedroom.
