"Lovely house in wonderful location and we had a fabulous stay in spite of the weather!"
However here are our criticisms 1. The parking is very tight……we had a mini and 2 suvs and it was just about ok. 3 large cars would struggle 2. As commented by others the ovens are poor. Very small and really should be improved. With a full house it’s a struggle to cook a full meal. Microwave had no plug in its housing 3. Outside wooden table and chairs for eating need replacing. In very poor condition 4. Allegedly there is a barbecue - says in the details - but we never found it. 5. Heating was almost impossible to regulate.

"This is the fourth year of booking this property in which time we have seen rents rise from £5326/ week to £7944/week, we as a large family enjoy getting together in Southwold once a year and The Cannons is an outstanding property both in position and size to meet our requirements."
We then find it somewhat disappointing to find things we reported last year still not rectified and feel the maintenance of the property is lapsing which at £5326 for week we could overlook but not at £7944/week. I reported last year that the master ensuite shower leaked through the ceil into the hallway which it did again this year, I reported the Tv reception was poor in the Kitchen last year and noticed the TV ariel was lying on the roof, it still is, lights over the table keep dimming, they still do.The Master bedroom has a door latch that drops out at the bottom when opened. It looks like there has been a leak in the roof outside the bunk room because Kitchen floor is badly stained and starting to curl up. With all this in mind sadly my family has now started to look for alternative more competitively priced accommodation through other sources for our annual get together in Southwold, and had the property been looked after better I feel we would have been regular customers for many years to come.

"Cannons is a beautiful house, in an amazing situation on the edge of the cliff in Southwold."
However, it would have been useful if the property description had included a floor plan. It failed to mention that the top bedroom en-suite bathroom is small with a height restriction. Many windows were difficult to open and in one of the first floor bedrooms, it was impossible to close them. Luckily we were able to phone the Housekeeper who was extremely helpful. But although we tried on a number of occasions, it was impossible to get through to speak to anyone in the Sykes office. We also wrote an email, but didn’t receive an answer.

"Cannons is a very nice family house in a great position with loads of space, especially in the kitchen/dining/living room."
BUT it has two quite important drawbacks. Firstly two of the bathrooms are so small they are laughable and virtually unusable. Secondly the description “ample parking” is somewhat misleading as the parking on the pebble driveway is only just big enough for three cars but with no room at all to turn round, with on grass parking that is dangerous when wet. The games room is not very well equipped and we found the tv room soulless and badly situated,Despite these negatives we all had a great time at Cannons.

"We are all keen cooks and found the ovens a bit basic."
Two better ovens would have been perfect. The garden furniture needed updating too.On saying that we all had a wonderful holiday in a wonderful house. Some of us cried all the way home.

The property
A stunning seaside house for large groups with panoramic views of the Suffolk coastline, Cannons, resting in Southwold, is perfect for celebrating special occasions with large groups.
Park off-road and unpack with ease into this stunning house, noting the stunning driftwood chandelier and airy hallway, where extra care has been taken to create an air of opulence, and make yourself at home in one of the three sitting areas, a TV room, a snug, and an open-plan living area, each with a selection of chairs and sofas tastefully picked to make morning coffee a delight.
The kitchen is fantastic, with wooden work surfaces and plenty of space for group cooking, it is no wonder that mealtimes can be enjoyed by the whole group.
The property has six spectacular en-suite bedrooms, all with beautiful views of the countryside and coast, and all with contemporary décor, so you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a space to get cosy for the night.
As the evening wears on, make your way up to the second floor where a fantastic snug creates the perfect spot for cocktails as you watch the sun set and the coastline beyond, a truly wonderful part of the property.
Outside there is a barbecue and lawn where you can enjoy breakfast outside.
Southwold is a seaside town where there is so much on offer for guests, so if you can tear yourself away from this magical property, Southwold Cannons and Southwold Lighthouse are both well worth a visit.
With such a large beach, taking a walk in the salty air is a must, and you can also try out watersports and wild swimming.
Southwold has a variety of eateries and independent shops for you to explore, however, you can travel further from the property to visit a handful of castles strewn across Suffolk, including Orford Castle and Framlingham Castle.
