  • "The accommodation is lovely and comfortable but there was a strong smell in the lounge that was really unpleasant."

It cleared when both front and back windows were opened but then returned after they were closed. This affected our use of the lounge. Suggest more crockery and saucepans- only 2 proper size bowls and no jugs or items for use in the microwave. Plenty of plates, glasses and mugs. Taps on the kitchen sink were loose but worked OK. Just to note - there were no spare bin liners and only one dishwasher tablet. Also one of the 2 visitor guide booklets gives the wrong WiFi code. Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms. We had a great time and love the location and would be happy to come again after the problem with the smell in the lounge has been resolved

Dear Pauline Many Thanks for the above feedback. I will endeavour to replace the measuring jugs and some bowls for the kitchen as there should have been 5 large serving bowls and a set of jugs. Bin bags have been replaced and 3 dishwasher tablets should be left for guests initial use so I will reiterate this with the cleaners. Regarding the smell in the lounge. I have organised for this to be looked into and the initial finding is that it’s due to the vent below the front lounge window which is being rectified. Many Thanks for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back to First Light in the future. Kind Regards Kay Property Owner

  • "Beautiful house in a good location."

Very comfortable for 8 people. Issue with broken kettle that was quickly resolved with a new one being delivered asap. Was expecting hand wash or soap in each bath room; nothing in the ground floor or second floor bathroom, and only three toilet rolls. Other than that, a fabulous stay!

So pleased to hear you had a lovely stay at First Light. Sorry to hear that there was no hand soap. There should be matching decorative bottles placed in each bathroom with hand soap and lotion so I will double check with the cleaning company if these are indeed missing or had not be refilled and will implement immediately. Apologies for the inconvenience. Kind Regards Kay Property Owner

  • "We did not have an enjoyable stay at First Light as there were many niggling issues around cleanliness and maintenance that both Sykes and the owner would not accept, instead trying to blame us."

These included: strong damp smell in front room, hair left in sink, 2 bathroom locks not working, hole in pillowcase, vacuum full of dirt, cobwebs, pair of dirty socks left in bedroom….. After many emails, the solution offered was to send round the housekeeper- who then said all was fine - so nothing else was done to resolve the issues. We have stayed in a lot of holiday properties and only ever complained once before, so are not unreasonable or extra fussy. We were dismayed by how little Sykes did to try and help and how they refused to escalate the complaint.

  • "Enjoyed a wonderful week here."

Fantastic location, beautiful beach. Our 3 year old loved the beach and amusements... as did we! Highly recommend the Well Well Well - the tapas is lovely and in walking distance. Southwold is a lovely place, highly recommend! And if you visit Beccles, would recommend Twyfords Cafe, had a great meal! Thank you for a wonderful stay x

  • "We've had a brilliant week."

Great location close to beach, we recommend 'Sunrise at Zak's' beachfront café and 'The Jolly Sailors' (make sure you book as it gets very busy). Thanks for a great stay!

  • "We have had a great few days staying here and visiting family."

The house is lovely, plenty of room for all of us and close to the beach. Very comfy beds, nice bathrooms - all well equipped. The light fittings are impressive!

  • "We have had a lovely long weekend."

House perfect for our needs and close to the beach was very handy with a little one, what with the good weather as well, we couldn't have asked for anything more. Only thing was there seems to be no blue recycling bin. P.S found the blue bin down the road :)
