  • "Enjoyed our week in this old cottage."

Clean, comfortable and well equipped it made a great base for exploring this lovely area. Also enjoyed the many footpaths within easy reach of the cottage.

  • "A lovely cottage in a beautiful village, restored to a very comfortable standard while keeping a lot of the original character."

The original staircase, exposed beams and the general feeling in the cottage made my stay very enjoyable and relaxing . It was well equipped, the welcome pack full of useful information and the location has some good walking routes from doorstep while just a short drive from the beaches at Southwold and Aldeburgh. I’d definitely recommend a stay at black sheep cottage.

  • "Lovely old cottage could do with a new cooker but we never used it anyway the cottage would also benefit from a really good hoovering lots of spiders and cobwebs."

Perhaps also a fly trap of some description . But our main concern was the fact that cats would come into the cottage and my wife is very scared of them and i am not keen, so we had to put a stool against the cat flap, if we would have known. we would not have rented the cottage. However we still enjoyed our stay and the place for some reason or another had a lovely vibe.

I really do not know what to say to this. I checked the cottage over myself an hour or so before the guests arrived. It was immaculate. No cobwebs, no spiders, no flies. and whilst there is a catflap it is set so that no cats can come in. There is nothing wrong with the cooker - it has barely been used! these guests gave me a lot of grief refusing to use the password for WiFi and insisting, quite inappropriately, on having all the underlying network security, which I politely refused. I can only think that this unpleasant, unkind and untrue review is revenge. The guests who came in immediately afterwards absolutely loved the cottage and have already asked to return. • "Nice well equipped cottage, comfortable for 2, surely 4 would be hard work particularly with the old uneven floorboards creaking loudly!"

A lot of flies in the house on arrival. Although very old and charming the property might need a refresh/update. Overall a good break.

Thank you for your comments. My sincere apologies if there were some flies, it's the country and it is harvest time, though it was only 24 hours earlier that the house was cleaned. I will refer your comments on to housekeeping. I am a little confused though as to it needing a refresh/update - it's a recently and immaculately restored cottage - but it does date from 1560 and I can accept that old oak floors and timbers, lime plaster, Farrow and Ball paint and Crucial Trading Coir floor covering are not to everyone's taste, Plasterboard interiors it is not! Other guests have absolutely loved it, as evidenced by the other reviews.....and the photos are accurate. Property Owner

  • "Black Sheep Cottage is a quirky, ancient building - sympathetically restored and elegantly furnished, with everything we needed for a relaxing break."

We felt very at home in its warm and comfortable interior. There is a little, private courtyard for sitting out on sunny mornings or balmy evenings and The surrounding gardens are lovely, too. It’s a good place from which to explore the Suffolk coast. A good pint can be had at the White Horse in Sibton, and the village shop/post office is just along the road. We definitely intend to return!

So glad you enjoyed my lovely little Black Sheep. Property Owner
