"Location of River Lodge was perfect, walking distance to local shops and the beach."
The enclosed paddock was ideal for our 2 dogs who loved running around chasing balls. The views Sunsets and sunrises were breathtaking and very peaceful. Disappointed with the cleanliness of the lodge when we arrived, the fridge had food residue in it and under the sink the cutlery and dish were dirty. There wasn't any hooks to hang towels in the bathroom so I had to buy an airer to put outside to dry towels. The lodge had a microwave listed on the facilities but no microwave when we arrived. At night-time there was a green glow from the fire exit sign above the only exit door, and finally the tiny sofa was so uncomfortable and certainly not large enough for 2 people to sit on.

"The lodge was cosy and compact, just enough space for 2 adults and our little dog."
We were surprised by the amount of land that the lodge was on, great for letting the dog have a wander. The view and location was great, the verandah perfect for having a cuppa and watching the 'big skies'. Loved that it was nice and peaceful. Would have liked a toaster, not a deal breaker, and managed with the kettle on the gas hob!

"An absolutely beautiful lodge with a wonderful view."
We wanted peace and quiet and that’s certainly what we got. We had everything that we needed in the lodge and local shops and the beach was only a short walk away.

"Great little place, small but had everything we needed."
The fully enclosed dog safe field was a huge plus for us and our two Irish Terriers and we enjoyed using the fire pit one evening.

"Absolutely loved our week here."
Peaceful, gorgeous views, tranquil & friendly, felt remote but had everything within walking distance from supermarkets, pub, town centre & beach couldn’t ask for more. So many gorgeous places to explore just a short drive away. We will definitely be booking again. I’m so happy I’ve found it.

"A lively quiet place to stay."
My dog loved running around the paddock.

"Generally v clean but shower room could have been cleaner around the sink area and bottom of shower screen."
There were no shelves or hooks in the shower room for towels or toiletries which was a bit awkward. Although it was a very pleasant stay the price charged was a lot compared with other properties available for a long weekend in January considering the basic nature of the internal space. We loved the open field, the privacy and view but the fencing is not secure for small/ medium sized dogs. Our dog managed to crawl under the fence at the back but we caught him before an escape was made! All places we have stayed at with Sykes have a folder of useful information about local facilities and walks in the area, there wasn’t one here which we missed. It was lovely to have a welcome gift for our dog which was appreciated. River Lodge was ideal for a long weekend and was conveniently walking distance of the supermarket and Aldeburgh itself.

"We have had a fantastic one week stay at River Lodge."
What a peaceful place with beautiful views. The lodge is like a tardis. I managed to get our weeks worth of luggage all unpacked and neatly away. The bed was very comfy. The kitchen had everything we needed. The freezer was a good size for the space and really great for us as our dogs food is frozen. The TV was a nice little extra we weren’t expecting and we could get all freeview channels. The enclosed wrap around garden was huge and our dog loved it. The fencing is excellent and totally enclosed. The local area was lovely with lots of places to eat and plenty of fresh fish. A Tesco and coop in walking distance was really handy. Even with all of this on our doorstep we felt like we were in a very peaceful and private spot. We would certainly recommend and would love to return. An excellent holiday had by all, such a fantastic place.
