  • "No parking at all in spite of your advert stating there is, as Im disabled I found it hard going."

No broadband at all and only 2 TV sides, try as hard as my young granddaughter could there was no way the settings would allow us more than BBc1 and BBC2. How with no broadband.

  • "The property was nicely presented but very musty when we first arrived."

We opened all the windows and aired the cottage which helped.

  • "We enjoyed our stay but there were a couple of issues."

Firstly the TV reception was patchy and Freeview went off completely on Wednesday night till Friday morning after a heavy rain storm. Secondly we both found the shower awkward to get out of and we found the step down quite high. Finally the mattress was clingy and hot. Lovely location though.

  • "Lovely cosy cottage, well furnished/ equipped/ maintained."

Firm comfortable double bed. Good heating for cold days. Superb central location, just yards from the prom and the high street. Recommended!

  • "Perfectly positioned terraced house for exploring everything good in Southwold - a short walk to the Prom, the beach and to the town centre."

Lots of lovely local shops, restaurants, cafes and pubs. Had an excellent lunch at the Swan and several pints of Adnams at the Sole Bay Inn. A cautious warning about the steps to the kitchen - I almost fell several times! Apart from that it was a lovely break!

  • "A lovely, comfortable, well set out cottage, and in such a good position."

The extras such as candles, throws on sofas, made our stay very homely. The only points we thought of were the heating. We were a bit hot, and would have changed the times of the heating being on. But understand the need to cater for all, and we did use the radiator thermostats. Also maybe an extra saucepan? We will be back!

  • "We had a fantastic stay at this property."

It is a stone's throw from both the town centre and the beach. It's warm and cosy and also brilliant if you have a dog - and it was a nice touch when the owners left a bottle of wine on arrival. We booked 24 hours before arrival and the owner came back within minutes to say it would be cleaned and ready. We would happily return. Thank you

  • "A great location, very close to the sea, and a couple of minutes to Southwold's shops etc."

Everything we needed for cooking etc. The downstairs bathroom, common in small dwellings, would not suit some. During our visit, parking was easier than expected.

  • "Although it's a lovely looking cottage in a great spot, there are some not so good bits."

..... Kitchen - The double/half step between the kitchen and dining room is lethal, I tripped a few times. The tap was covered in limescale. There are 12 fish knives (ever tried to cut/spread something with a fish knife?) but insufficient knives for two meals for four people. Not enough wine glasses. The dishwasher door catches on the baseboard - when you open or close it, the baseboard pops off. Bathroom - We had to descale the shower head - only about 10 holes were clear, the bathroom radiator was not working and the hot tap turns on and off the wrong way. General - I caught my bare feet on the gripper rods at the thresholds as the carpets are threadbare. Outside - is a bit dismal, not because of the time of year, but because the walls are painted black/deep charcoal.

  • "Location is fantastic."

However the cottage needs some TLC. None of the internal doors close or have broken handles, some lights and sockets not working. Pedal bin broken, carpets and floors not great which was difficult as my daughter has a young child and a crawling baby. The lock on the front door was really hard and we were stranded outside one evening and had to ask for help. Bit stressful. Kitchen and bathroom was clean and reasonably good. All can be fixed pretty easily so it's a pity really.

  • "I mentioned to Sykes that I feel it’s important you make it clear that the bathroom is downstairs, and stairs are steep."

Secondary glazing made it impossible to open downstairs windows. Courtyard neglected so not a pleasure to sit in. Some bulbs gone, pedal bin broken On the plus side, well located for shops and seaside

  • "Lovely little property, perfect for a family group."

But stairs probably mean not so suitable for elderly or young children. Beautiful details like hinges on doors. Well appointed house.

  • "We were rather disappointed to find two very dirty marks on the carpet in the sitting room and main bedroom on arrival."

There was also a chip in the kitchen cupboard next to the cooker which we noted on arrival. There were only two large plates to use, at least another four would have been useful. The main problem was that all the under sheets and mattress protectors were very badly stained. Bedding is something we check when we arrive at a rented cottage. On stripping the beds, it was rather a surprise to find all these sheets needed washing. It was not feasible to do this on arrival as they would not have been several loads and we did have to sleep in the beds that evening. All the above were reported to your office on the day we left. The person we spoke to said she would let housekeeping know of these issues. Thank you.

  • "We had a comfortable stay, the only thing we lacked was somewhere to hang our coats and bags (it was a squeeze in the cupboard under the stairs and not ideal if a coat is a bit damp from rain to hang it in a cupboard), so I would consider including some hooks near the door."

Otherwise the cottage was exactly as described and had everything we needed, we had a brilliant time in Southwold.

  • "This was a lovely cottage in the best location."

We were a stone’s throw away from the beach and could see the sea from the window, then just around the corner from the high street. We had a wonderful few days staying in Southwold, we will definitely be returning. Thank you.
