  • "This was our 2nd year staying at Harbour Lights and it was just as good as we remembered."

Brilliant position for winter walks on the beach. The house is extremely comfortable & was very clean on our arrival. The mince pies were a bonus we didn’t expect. The kitchen was very well equipped, with everything we needed for our stay. The beds were extremely comfortable, could probably done with a higher tog duvet for our December stay. Such a wonderful place to stay in Southwold we’ve booked again for next year.

  • "This is our second stay at this property."

It is comfortable and warm. The only slight niggle is the upstairs shower which tends to go from freezing to scalding in a minute alteration of the temperature dial. Apart from the above we have nothing but praise for the house. With its position right on the dunes our grandchildren were never indoors, and the weather was very kind consideing it was late October.

Thank you for your lovely feedback and my apologies about the shower. I asked my plumber to look into it as it doesn't sound pleasant at all. As part of my mission to keep the house fresh and comfortable for guests I'm actually going to be re-doing that shower room in January so it should look a bit different if you were to come again. • "Amazing location right on the beach and close to the town too."

The house is superb, with large bedrooms complete with proper storage such as cupboards and chests of drawers, all with bedside tables too. Kitchen is well equipped, has a Nespresso Vertuo machine with a selection of pods (these are hard to come by in shops, a good selection is provided but if staying for a while you might run out!). Lovely big lounge looking out to the sand dunes with glimpses of the sea beyond. House is well heated with both central heating and heated towel rails in the bathrooms. Would definitely recommend and would love to return!

Thanks so much for your fantastic feedback. I'm thrilled you enjoyed the house as it's my aim to make it a home from home. Personally I dislike damp towels so I'm glad you noticed the heated towel rails! I am always working on the house and there are new projects planned in January which you'll hopefully enjoy if you come back! Best wishes, Inez Property Owner

I'm so glad you had another great stay at Harbour Lights. I have many guests that re-visit and it's my aim that the house should be just as good - if not better - each time they stay. We look forward to seeing you next year! Property Owner

  • "A fantastic week at Harbour Lights with the children and grandchildren."

This property had everything you could need and more, so well equipped and plenty of room, great big comfy beds and lots of bathrooms. The location was fabulous and the dogs came home content and exhausted. The weather started off a bit hit and miss, but we managed to get out every day and enjoyed a memorable trip to Walberswick by boat for Father's Day and a great lunch at The Anchor, plenty of lovely long walks for the dogs and beach time for the children. We will certainly be back, Harbour Lights is one of best properties we have EVER stayed in. We loved The Sail Loft and Soul Bay for various meals. Southwold is one of favourite Suffolk coast locations, but this house took it to another level. Huge thanks to the owners who have thought of every last detail and provide what is definitely a first class experience for holiday makers. We'll see you next year for sure.

Thank you so much for your amazing feedback. It truly makes my day to read reviews such as this as it makes it all worthwhile. My aim is for the house to truly be a home from home with everything a family needs - along with any four legged friends! We also like to visit all those places for food - so many great options locally. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Best wishes, Inez Property Owner

Loved our stay. Would recommend and would stay again. We were disappointed that we didn’t get a welcome pack having read the reviews as to how good they are, but it wouldn’t stop us from returning.

I'm so glad you had a lovely stay and enjoyed the house. Huge apologies about the welcome pack. Please rest assured that will be rectified if you were to stay again! Best wishes, Inez Property Owner

  • "This was our 2nd stay at Harbour Lights and it didn't disappoint."

The fact that the weather was absolutely glorious helped but the house itself feels very welcoming and safe. Everything you need is there and in a very good , spotlessly clean condition. Books and games to keep you occupied if the weather was bad. I had arranged for a delivery of food from Sainsburys which arrived Friday shortly after we had booked in. We ordered a takeaway for delivery on the Saturday evening from the local chinese which was delicious. We look forward to coming back next year

Thanks so much for your lovely feedback. It's almost more daunting with my (many) repeat visitors as they know the house and would be even more aware of any drop in standards! Along with Jacqui and her team of cleaners who keep it clean and smart, I am constantly trying to keep it fresh and updated so hopefully my lovely guests keep coming back. Well done on the weather too - sun has been hard to come by in 2024. We look forward to seeing you again next year! Best wishes, Inez Property Owner

The location is amazing, being able to step out onto the dunes and beach. The house is cosy and clean. The kitchen has everything you need from cooking a roast, to baking a cake! The beds are the comfiest beds ever...made it hard to get up in the morning due to the comfort! My daughter loves the reclining chair in the lounge! With 3 generations staying there, everyone was happy, from the youngest having the beach, the elders having a tea or coffee watching the view and the middlies walking into Southwold for a retail wander! We wish we were still there!

Thank you so much for this wonderful review, it really means a huge amount. I love it when my guests find the same peace at the house that we do. It's my mission to make it a home from home and I'll keep on trying to make it better and better. Best wishes, Inez Property Owner

The location is perfection, straight out of the garden gate and onto the beach, plus the super close proximity to the town. The owners have done an exceptional job with the house in terms of design, layout and comfort and also with the additional touches - logs, kindling, matches, kitchen cooking and bathroom basics, like hand wash with every sink, which you don't get everywhere even at other high end properties. This is especially great for a long weekend v a longer stay. We loved it so much we booked for another long weekend later in the year while still there, I think that probably says it all! Thanks so much x

Thank you so much for your absolutely lovely feedback. It means an enormous amount to hear that people enjoy the house. I have strived to make it a home from home so that my guests can just relax and enjoy the beautiful location. We look forward to welcoming you back later in the year. Despite it being the end of October, the weather was very kind. We were celebrating a family birthday for which the accommodation was perfect. It was an added bonus that there was a car charging point as one of our party had an electric car. There was everything available in the house to make a comfortable week end; we loved the decor and furnishings; it is a lovely seaside house.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. It really is a joy to hear that people enjoy the house as much as we do. I'm glad that the charger came in handy - my husband tried to 'trickle charge' his before we installed the charger point and it took two days! Property Owner

  • "This property is wonderful."

It was very well equipped with everything we needed. The location is stunning. We’ve been coming to Southwold for the past 30+ years and have many to compare with. 3 generations (5 adults and 2 small children) were all very comfortable and the weather was wonderful. Just a couple of niggles :- No welcome goodies, which were mentioned in the greetings. I asked if we could have a stair gate ( my 2 year old granddaughter was sleeping in a upstairs bedroom) but was told that it wasn’t in the description and that the owner would not provide one. A light haired dog must have been staying the week before us and for the first 4/5 days I hoovered twice a day and picked up several hoover full of dog hair, from the floor, rug, carpet, bean bag, sofa and throws. Thank you for sharing your property

Hello. Thank you for your feed back and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. I'm so sorry about the niggles you had to endure. I have chased up to find out what happened with the welcome goodies as these are meant to be there when you arrive so you can start the holiday as you mean to go on! The dog hair one is a challenge and the down side of allowing dogs. But I do appreciate the last thing you should be doing on holiday is hoovering. I'm going to trial a different hoover to see if it is more effective than the Henry as the cleaners are usually very thorough. With regards to the stair gate it is something we have explored but it poses a challenge largely because the hallway is narrower than modern houses. Any permanent fixings would stick out of the wall and have potential for guests to catch themselves on. However I am always trying to enhance the property so will keep pursuing this to see whether there is a safe, user friendly option. I do hope you will visit Harbour Lights again sometime. There was more available than we thought , we could have packed less. What a convenient location between 2 beautiful towns/villages. The dogs were in heaven with the access to the beach. There were 8 of us staying for my mums 80th and we did not feel on top of eachother as there was plenty of space and bathrooms. Would highly recommend!

  • "WOW, what an amazing place Harbour Lights is."

I had booked this to celebrate my partners 50th birthday, never been to Suffolk before but will definitely be coming again. The house is so comfortable and so clean. The facilities are very good, including dishwasher which is a luxury when there are six of you. We visited the museum next door and the ice cream parlour(frequently) and had Sunday Lunch in The Sail Loft (hit and miss on the food depending on what you ordered) Thank you Inez for sharing your beautiful home with us. There was a bottle of champagne left for us which was lovely.

What lovely feedback, thank you so much. I hope your partner had a fantastic birthday. The ice cream parlour is a must-do for us, however we too have found the Sail Loft to be a bit hit and miss recently which is a shame as it's so close! I hope you come back to Suffolk again - there is certainly lots to keep you busy! Property Owner

  • "Our Harbour Lights stay was amazing, very comfortable home."

Fabulous garden stunning views. The top toilet was dirty on arrival but probably just an oversight, bleach sorted the problem. The real disappointment was the goodies we should have received were not there. It would have been nice to have been able to have a sit down with a cuppa and piece of cake after a seven and a half hour journey. The owners had mentioned that the goodies were from a local shop so they were biased as they were friends of the owner. We searched but nothing was left! Wednesday we called in to the cafe and mentioned we were staying at her friends and how lovely it was. She then said “I still owe you a cake, I’ll drop it off this evening”, this was Wednesday, we were eating so she said she would leave it on the door step for us. We decided not to have a dessert as we would have cake back at the house. Nothing was there on our return! we popped in the cafe on Friday and were given a selection of obviously left over cakes of the day which was a real disappointment especially after her cafe is recommended in the in house information guide. If we weren’t told we would have lovely treats to enjoy we would not have thought about it but with such praise being given, it was a disappointment! We would however love to go back in the summer months for a stay as the property was fabulous.

I'm so sorry to hear about the toilet and cakes. I have fed back about the toilet to the cleaners as they are usually very reliable so hopefully it's a one-off. With regards to the cakes I must absolutely hold my hands up as I gave Cafe 51 the wrong dates initially. I suddenly realised once your stay had begun and sent Ally a panicked message but it put her on the back foot during a busy time as they were re-launching. I hope you can forgive me as Southwold is wonderful during the summer months and we'd love to see you back. I've also taken on board your point about the welcome note and will be revising it for the future. Best wishes, Inez Property Owner

  • "We loved Harbour Lights ."

The view was amazing . The comfort was fantastic. The facilities were brilliant . Only had two concerns . 1.The front gates could be opened by anybody walking past & as we have 3 small dogs these could have been running loose on the road without us knowing .. would only concern people with dogs & children . We worked out a way to block the sides of the property off with the windbreaks . 2.The shower over the bath has no working temperature control - it is stuck on hot ! I couldn’t stand under it & had to use the shower by the front door .

Hello, I'm so glad you loved the house. The views are truly special. Although I hadn't had any feed back about the front gates and access to the front of the house before we've just been doing some work in the garden and have added a fence and gate at each side of the property which should give added peace of mind to parents and dog owners. I'm also sorry about the experience you had with the over-bath shower. We weren't aware it had stuck. That bathroom has actually just been completely re-done to provide easier access to the bath so fingers crossed there won't be problems like that again. Property Owner
