  • "A lovely family house."

Lots of space for 6 people, ideally we would have liked a walk in shower in the upstairs bathroom.

  • "We were very happy with the accommodation generally and the location suited us very well."

Overall the facilities were good, although there was one bed which was very uncomfortable. In booking this accommodation, the internet connection was crucial as some of our group needed to work. However this was patchy in our first week and very intermittent in the second week. (The co-working space in the town is highly recommended but there was a daily charge).

  • "We have been renting houses in Southwold for many years, but this was the first time we have stayed at Walton House."

The dining room could seat all of us and guests we had over (13 people!), and we then all sat comfortably in the lounge. It's rare to find such spacious accommodation. Whilst the stairs to the top floor were a bit of a challenge for the oldest (89-year-old) member of the party, he did manage them. I would suggest reconfiguring the zip-and-link beds on the first floor to two singles, as the other, spritelier, members of the party were all couples, and required double beds. We enjoyed, and made use of, the upper snug, including for flute practice. The central position in town is superb, and pre-breakfast swims, and a nip to Tescos for the smallest thing were easy, plus fish and chips opposite and H&J ice creams practically next door (as well as The Nelson). It is not the most perfectly-presented house we have stayed in, but conversely, this gave it great character, as ultra-modernised properties can be a bit too much, particularly when you have sand stuck to your feet from the beach. This is one of the best of the many houses we have stayed in, despite the oddities such as a very small yard, being able to hear people in the charity shop below, the shop getting stock from the shed in the courtyard, and some of the original door catches no longer closing properly (which can make it difficult to keep a dog off the beds, although stair gates were provided). We will be booking for next year!

Many thanks for the feedback. It’s super thoughtful and 100% accurate. Captures the spirit of the property beautifully. In fact it’s so thoughtful we’d like to offer you a 10% discount for the time taken. Just mention to BoS when you pay the balance. Regards Richard & Isobel Property Owner

Upper bathroom needs a conventional shower - everyone ended up using the downstairs shower The name of the house should be on the front of property or on the access gate - I had to ask confirmation in the shop below The feather filled cushions were a problem because small feathers everywhere in lounge

  • "A three generational holiday very much enjoyed by all - the house was very comfortable and its town centre location made everything so easily accessible."

The layout was perfect for a very active family and bed linens and towels were a generous good quality. There were some great days out only a short distance away and the cars were hardly used. On arrival we discovered the Pier with it's great sense of humour slot machines, subsequently the ferry to Walberswick with hours of crabbing accompanied with fish and chips proved to be a great day out . A tour of the Lighthouse was very enjoyable particularly for the kids, always returning to a great, satisfying holiday home. The only downside for us, travelling from the north, was the Friday changeover which involved a very long slow journey in heavy, traffic which, had we known, we could have planned by travelling very early in the morning or in the evening.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like you covered all the things to do Property Owner

  • "The holiday house was just what we wanted for a family festive stay in Southwold, thank you."

I did request the king size bed be separated, but when we arrived it had not been. I found it difficult to navigate all the different companies responsible for the property, lots of emails from lots of companies involved. A couple of things that really need addressing is the kitchen tap which is loose and the on/off turn is so difficult, it is going to come off in someone’s hand very soon? Both bathrooms are a good size, it really would be useful to have a shower over the bath and a shower curtain, most people want a shower and with that many in the house it would have worked much better to have two. However we had a lovely time and it worked really well with plenty of living space. On a separate note I did not put the rubbish out as the collection is not until Friday I checked the county council website. Also with it being so windy I did not want to leave it out in case in went over, that would have been terrible for the street.

Thanks. The house is let through Best of Suffolk / Sykes and there’s a housekeeper but not sure what caused the confusion there. Kitchen tap has been fixed. Property Owner

  • "Another wonderfully relaxing family holiday is this comfortable, convenient and very well equipped house."

Just a couple of comments - new shower is brilliant but upstairs bath and handheld shower could do with a shower curtain and now we are all adults we find that the 2 single beds in the top left hand bedroom are not big enough - rather narrow and short and we are not big people!

  • "Lovely house in a perfect position in Southwold."

Our 12th stay in various houses in Southwold. We found the property cold on occasion for my elderly parents and the shower/hot water was a little unreliable. We loved the main sitting room and added to the glasses collection by purchasing from the charity chop below. Thank you

Many thanks for the additional glasses. Regarding the heating, not sure what the issue was with that as the house is normally very warm even in the cold months. It is best adjusted via the individual radiators rather than the central thermostat so maybe it was that. Property Owner

  • "Third time at W House and another very comfortable stay."

Thank you. Very well equipped kitchen and large sitting room. One thing: the showers - one over bath (fixed) and one handheld - could be better.

Agree. The plan is to refurbish the lower bathroom in Q1 next year to include a proper walk in shower. Thanks Property Owner
