  • "Excellent accommodation in a good location."

I very much enjoyed the quiet of the countryside but still so near to the beautiful Suffolk coast. The Lodge is small so I think a family of 4 would struggle. There isn't much room to store clothes. But ideal for 1 or 2. The kitchen is well equipped and I appreciated the milk and biscuits, tea and coffee. The weather was amazing and I was able to use the veranda a lot of the time I was there. I loved watching the buzzards. Thank you Marina for a good few days.

  • "We thought this was a fantastic lodge and we really enjoyed our stay here."

We found the lodge was every that was listed and was really cosy and comfortable. The heating was on when we arrived which was fantastic as it had been a really cold day. The beds were really comfortable and I had a couple of really good night's sleep. The bathroom had a really, really good shower as well, which was really appreciated. The lodge is in very pleasant surroundings just off a very quite road. On the bird feeders and in the surrounding fields we saw a lot of different wildlife, including green woodpeckers, greater spotted woodpeckers, tree creepers, buzzards, an array of tits and a tawny owl (heard only). The lodge is in a really good location that's easy to get to and within an easy drive of a lot of what the region has to offer, such as Aldeburgh, Southwold, RSPB Minsmere, and Sutton Hoo to name a few. Saxmundham and Leiston have plenty of amenities if you need to stop up on any shopping to take back to the hut where there is the facility to cook up any reasonable sized dinner. Theberton itself is a quiet and charming village. There is a really decent playpark in the village that was ideal for our little one. One criticism I have is that the listing (currently) really understates how good the pub is. It's a cracking pub, with lots of decor that shows off the local history and you can find in the Good Beer Guide at the time of writing. The staff and locals were really friendly and there is a good range of home cooked food and they catered for the little one. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and if you are interested in visiting this part of Suffolk with a small family and are looking for a cosy and comfortable lodge within a good driving distance of many local sights then I would highly recommend this place.

  • "Very cosy lodge and despite on the day booking property was clean and welcoming complete with fresh milk and biscuits waiting for our arrival."

Had everything we needed including towels and very well equipped with crockery and cooking utensils etc. Comfortable sofa and dining area with decent size tv and good choice of channels. Decent sized and well fenced garden for our large labradoodle, which he enjoyed playing ball in and loved the bag of treats kindly left for him. Good easy parking. Warm and cosy lodge and will definitely visit again. Helpful literature on local attractions and easy to travel to attractions like Dunwich Heath and Sizewell beach. Only very minor negative, could do with something like an airer in laundry room to dry wet clothes on as limited drying area in lodge for soggy jackets etc although we did get caught in storm Henk so rather extreme rain. Can't wait to return. Owners very friendly and helpful.

The lodge was well designed beautifully made and tastefully furnished (without the frou frou and ornaments found in many cottages). Everything was thoughtfully supplied, including milk tea and biscuits on arrival. The lodge is quite new and is well looked after by the friendly owners. • "We enjoyed our week in Buttercup Lodge."

The lodge was warm, clean and comfortable for the two of us, and well situated for the Suffolk coast as well as other destinations. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location, and any comings and goings from the lodge next door didn’t disturb us at all. The few niggles we felt involved the very small basin in the bathroom, the shower curtain not reaching the floor (making the floor wetter than it needed to be) and the mattress being on the firm side, though we did get used to it. All first world problems, and not deal breakers for a week away in a cosy property that provided us with a good value holiday. The kitchen was well-equipped, the towels were soft, TV and broadband worked well, and the heating was great. Having the spare bedroom gave us plenty of storage space.

It will adequately accommodate four adults and has sufficient facilities for an enjoyable stay. The size of the building precludes some facilities, such as a dishwasher and there is a shower, but no bath. There is ample patio and garden furniture to enjoy any good weather. We would come again.

  • "Lovely little cabin."

Very quiet without being isolated. Nice, clean and comfy. Pros: Quiet, enclosed garden, great shower, close to some nice walks, clean, well equipped. Dog friendly, dog treats with towel, fleece for furniture and towel for paws! Cons: Because close to farm, lots of flies so be careful if leaving windows open, shower doesn't drain quickly enough (damp clothes), be good to have an electric fan for hot weather. Fire exit lights quite bright but can't be helped - maybe take eye mask. I really enjoyed my short stay. Was comforting knowing my dog (Greyhound) could go in the garden for a good sniff. Had a quick trip to Dunwich Marshes for a looong walk. Bliss. I always put the key back into the key safe so I didn't lose it. It is a small cabin but as it was just me & Micky it was plenty big enough. Lots of power sockets including some USB points. Well thought out accommodation.

  • "The property was very new and made with top quality materials and as pictured in the brochure, however i found the layout of the rooms strange."

The exits to the garden is from and through the bedrooms!. The grass had been very recently cut hence cuttings from the rear garden are constantly being deposited on the bedroom floor. Also the property is dog friendly, not all dogs are small, mine is certainly not and the bedrooms are quite bijou, she could not go through without rubbing against the bed plus lots of grass clippings on the return journey. We had to cover the side of the bed to prevent hair being deposited on the bed. Clearing up was difficult because there was only a broom and dustpan, there was no hoover. It was stated to be wheelchair friendly, I have pushed wheelchairs for a living for the past ten years and my wife sometimes has to use one, pea shingle is the hardest medium to push a wheelchair through so getting from the car to the ramp would not be easy. Doors were great but a wheelchair in either of the bedrooms would be challenging. Delightful lodge but different

About the location

LEISTON

Aldringham 1 mile; Thorpeness 3 miles; Aldeburgh 4 miles.
