  • "Previous reviews have highlighted problems, no chairs in bedrooms and insufficient clothes storage in all bedrooms,no bedside tables or lights in third bedroom ."

No coffee tables means nowhere to put drinks whilst sitting on settees. Insufficient kitchen equipment in particular no fine sieve making cooking rice impossible. Although very clean and tidy not homely. We enjoyed our holiday but feel the need to make the above points

Hi, most points will be addressed. Just been booked out constantly. Have now got time to furniture to be sympathetic to complaints. Re 3rd bedroom, pretty unfortunate that the cleaner accidentally smashed the bedside lamp during the clean prior to your arrival. There is a dressing table in 3rd bedroom, but will try to source some bedside tables that can fit within the space permitted, as the 3rd bedroom is quite small in comparison to other bedrooms, and is the reason I try to advertise as max 5 people stay. I hope you still managed to have a good time, but understand if didn't want to return in future. Will update photos on website as soon as new furniture purchased . Priority is chairs for dining table & bedrooms. Will also add coffee table to list & new lamp of course. Appreciate your feedback thank you Property Owner

  • "We had a great time at The Hollies."

It was well equipped and the kids loved table tennis. The benches at the dining table were a little precarious for the kids (aged 9, 10 and 12) when they tried to pull them closer to the table. One in particular would rock forwards if not careful. A couple of normal chairs would be helpful for ease of use for those of us who are quite arthritic. The round handles on the doors were really tricky to grip and turn for my arthritis - not a complaint, just if we stay there again, I will take some sort of arthritis aid for opening such doors. I would love to see some extra drawer storage in the main bedroom as there were only 3 small drawers and then just hanging space in the wardrobes. Also, the beds are quite high, which is fine, except for the shorties amongst us, it’s a bit of an issue to sit and get socks on, so a chair in each bedroom would be really helpful. The location was great and peaceful. Lovely beaches nearby. Really enjoyed our stay and would consider returning in the future.

Dr Kate, I am pleased that you had a good experience overall, and appreciate your well balanced feedback. Will look to address the chair situation as soon as near term bookings have been completed and house is vacated. Thanks for visiting and hopefully see you again. Kind regards Allan Property Owner

  • "As I wrote in the visitors book, this was a nice, adequate holiday home: roomy, light filled and airy."

We enjoyed the garden and spent sunny early evenings around the patio table. We were able to cook light meals on a few nights using the well designed kitchen. However, there were winter weight duvets on all three beds, which makes little sense in the height of summer. The benches around the dining table are unsuitable for anyone beyond their teenage years. We were staying with my 91-year-old mother and were forced to bring folding chairs from home. The bedrooms are spartan in terms of facilities: a chair in each would be helpful. (We all need something to sit on when putting on shoes or to help with changing clothes.) Also, the fridge had a huge build up of ice and needed defrosting. Did this not occur to your house keeper?

Hi Will, Have taken up the fridge issue with housekeeper. We are sorry that you thought house/facilities were only adequate, and the bedrooms spartan. The Hollies is not for everyone and I understand that. We are conscious to kit the house out in a way that we would enjoy/have enjoyed our holidays in Suffolk. The priority is quality beds/ fittings (windows with plenty of openings), well cared for courtyard/bbq, kitchen, living room area, and a good location. It is difficult to cater for everyone . I do agree a couple of dining chairs to complement the 2 benches and 4 stools is needed. We will look to add those in the near future. Property Owner

  • "Cottage was fine overall, but really should have much more in the way of fixtures and fittings, such as coat hooks, shoe rack, loo roll holders etc."

    - and a few more pictures would be nice. Bulb in main bedroom bedside lamp was blown, and no spare in the house. Garden was a bit unkempt and needed to be a bit tidier. Another big criticism is the security cameras, which are unwelcome and intimidating, especially as one of them looks directly into the main living area. Understand the need for security perhaps, but not happy that we could be looked at even when indoors. Was very tempted to tape over them during our stay! Shower head nozzles in main bedroom en-suite were badly blocked, but I unblocked them and it was working perfectly when we left.

All of the above noted. Re the garden, weather has been v wet, and only just been able to tend to. The garden is generally looked after weekly. Security cameras ( They are there for your security, and security of the house). Camera 2 is permanently switched off during rental season. The only 2 cameras are facing out from the rear and front drive. In any case none of the cameras can access internally. Property Owner

  • "A dustpan would have been helpful to go with the broom."

Labelling the bins outside also would have been helpful. The floors were freezing. Slippers were needed! The house sleeps 6 but the dining table only seated 4 comfortably.

Hi Suzanne . Really sorry that you had some issues. Will look to address each of them in near future. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "This was a lovely property to stay in."

It was not only spacious but also very comfortable - the beds were amazing. We found Westleton a pretty village and a perfect location for a holiday. However, after a long journey from the south coast with roadworks and queues at the Dartford Tunnel on a hot day we were shocked to discover there was not so much as a tea bag in the house. This was a first for us despite many years of renting. (The welcome. pack consisted of a white wine and a packet of crisps.) There was no food or drink not even some salt and pepper. After the generosity .of previous property owners with your company we were stunned.

Hi Maureen, Really sorry that the welcome wasn’t as you expected. If ok with you I will try contacting you now to understand how we can do better Property Owner

  • "Really enjoyed our time at The Hollies."

At last found a property that we would like to return to in the area. Previously struggled to find somewhere in an area that we love. Appreciate that it the property is a new rental but hopefully the following comments would help the owner’. No Ironing board. Better selection of glasses. Maybe a selection of plastic plates etc. for children. Chairs instead of benches fir dining table. Thanks fir great holiday in Westleton.

Westleton is an idyllic village near the Suffolk coast, nestled between Southwold and Aldeburg and offers all the attributes you could hope for in a Suffolk village, with a village green complete with pond and ducks. The village is easily accessible from the local train station at Darsham approximately two miles away. Barrels are supplied and all are welcome to join in! The local Emmerdale Farm Shop and Butchery as well as a tea shop is approximately a mile away. The area is a haven for nature lovers with Westleton Heath National Nature Reserve, Dunwich Forest, Dunwich Beach with its famous fish and chip shop located on the beach, and the RSPB Minsmere, all close by.
