"This was the second time we stayed here."
It is a wonderful spot, totally quiet with beautiful views. The cottage has lovely beds with soft duvets, blankets and sheets and fluffy towels and bathmats. It is soo nice to have a bath in the warm bathroom. The shower pressure could be better though. Having 5 rooms is nice for a family of 3-4, everyone can find their own place to relax. The kitchen is fully equiped and a small problem with the dishwasher was solved immediately.

Small Dole is a village in Sussex only two miles from the larger market town of Henfield. This village is set right on the edge of the South Downs National Park, making this a very popular location for visitors wanting to stay somewhere rural and rustic, but with all the amenities of a much larger village. The Fox pub is a well visited establishment offering a full and varied menu for lunches and dinners, as well as a good selection of real ales and local bottle beers. Definitely a pub that should be on your holiday agenda! For those visitors who enjoy exploring the countryside, whether it be a cyclist or on foot, then this part of Sussex is a perfect choice either for a weekend or a longer stay, and whatever the weather, the walks, wildlife and nature trails will have you coming back time and again. Some walks start right from the centre of the village where Woods Mill Nature Reserve, which is part of the Sussex Wildlife Trust, is based. Why not look them up before you arrive and find out all the information in advance, including facilities, length and expected time of walking, as well as how easy or difficult the terrain can be? Of course it will be the views of the South Downs that will have you gazing in admiration, and if you find you are a little breathless, well that may be also due to climbing the Downs! For some quaint-style shopping then Henfield is only two miles away. With tea rooms and shops selling all sorts of local produce, pubs and takeaways, bistros and bakers, Henfield also has a library and museum. So why not take a stroll along the high street and see what you make of this perfect example of Sussex country life. Small Dole may be small in name, but never in what it has to offer!
