  • "This was our second visit to the cottage and again it didn’t disappoint."

The house is lovely and cosy especially at night with the log fire. The hot tub rounds off a great day after a day of exploring. Great communication with the owners who answered any questions we had. Hosts were great at recommending places to go and visit. We will definitely return to the station cottage

  • "We loved our stay at station house, beautiful and secluded."

It is one of the best equipped holiday cottages I have ever stayed in. The fire was cosy and the hot tub under the stars was magical. My daughters loved the garden with the sheep as neighbours. Thanks so much. We will be back’

Scenery stunning xx Host were great without being obtrusive. My dogs had freedom to run as the garden completely enclosed ( a few barking episodes with sheep In ajoining fields, sheep won lol ) We will definitely be back as still so much more to explore and knowing that there is a great hot tub to return to after a long day is just the best feeling xxx

  • "Lovely house on large plot, dogs really loved exploring the garden which was very secure."

Lovely comfy beds in all 3 bedrooms. Really well equipped with almost everything we needed. Only thing we would suggest to add would be a toilet brush in the bathroom and possibly a welcome folder with details of local eateries, supermarket, place of interest. Would return next time we visit our relatives. If you love a cake and coffee we recommend a visit to The Forse of Nature, The Bothy River and Wickers World (on the harbour in Wick) also does a great breakfast. Finally wanted to mention the amazing sunsets viewed most evenings from the comfort of the kitchen and living room.

  • "Station House is a lovely, warm, well appointed cottage."

It is a perfect base to explore Caithness and beyond. The owners are very welcoming but not intrusive. The kitchen is very well equipped, it also has a large table. The beds are really comfortable. The bathroom is excellent. The cottage is very dog friendly. There is a dog bed with blanket in the kitchen. The garden is well secured for most dogs. It is however on a working sheep farm. We kept our dog on the lead when in the garden for this reason. There are though several dog friendly, livestock free beaches within easy reach. A day trip to Orkney is well worthwhile. Overall we had a fantastic stay. A really nice house to stay in and plenty to do and see nearby. Highly recommended.

Location is excellent for exploring the NC500. The cottage itself had everything you will require for your stay and the enclosed garden was perfect for the dog he had never had so much freedom. I would highly recommend this cottage to everyone you will not be disappointed.

  • "Wow! This cottage was everything we imagined and then some."

Beautifully and tastefully renovated and extended. Love the character of the old Station House, very warm central heating and the wood burner is a cosy addition. Well equipped kitchen and amazing water pressure, which gives a great shower. Good sized outdoor enclosed garden, great for our dogs, paved patio area at the back has a lovely hot tub, which we enjoyed several evenings. Super to find this amazing dog friendly house, in a great spot, whether to explore the wider Caithness straths and coasts, or archaeology, local corner shops on your doorstep to having a relaxing beauty treatment in the Spa 5 mins away, you won't be disappointed. We even extended our stay. Look forward to coming back, highly recommend. Best wishes, Magnus, Julie & dogs Poppy & Fido

  • "We had a great time during our stay at Station Cottage."

The owners have put so much work and love to make it the ideal place to stay. The owners are so knowledgable in the local area and gave great recommendations of places to explore. The house itself itself is so well stocked with all the utensils you could need, and the lovely little extras like dog bed and treats. And soaking in the hot tub after a day exploring. Beautiful comfy beds, and cosy living room with the log burner. We where lucky enough to see the northern lights from the garden. Cannot recommend station house enough, we never wanted to leave. Thanks for having us.

Perfect place to explore the north east/west coast. Host was a really lovely chap who runs the farm the cottage is on. Avoid the local Portland hotel though, worst meal I've ever had and was served with warm white wine. The local cafe does a great breakfast though and the staff are really warm and welcoming. I have already recommended this cottage to my family and friends and i look forward to staying there again soon.

  • "The cottage is situated in a quiet hamlet, just outside of Lybster."

The area immediately surrounding the cottage is farmland, running along a small single-lane road and just off the A99, which is far enough away for the traffic to not be bothersome. Lybster is less than 5 minutes drive away, with a post office and well-stock shop, as well as a few nice walks. Wick is 15 minutes away and has a large Tesco and everything else you might need. That said, you do need to drive anywhere you want to go, as there are no footpaths on any of the surrounding roads, and walking is near impossible as cars tend to drive at very high speeds, even on the single-lane roads. The cottage itself is lovely, it has all the main amenities: washer & dryer (in the outhouse), dishwasher, fridge/freezer, 2 ovens (!!), microwave, and a reasonably-stocked kitchen with cooking tools. An extra cooking pot would be useful, as would some new chopping boards, but overall everything you need is there. There are three bedrooms, a living room, and an open kitchen/dining room. And one bathroom with a decent shower. There is also a wood-burning fireplace, which is lovely, and the most amazing feature: a hot tub. The hot tub was turned on and filled for when we arrived and you need only remove the cover to get in. We were in every day and 15 minutes in that tub is like a sauna (in a good way), and you come out feeling relaxed. Perfect right before bed! Definitely a winning feature! The cottage is unusual in that it's surprisingly well decorated with high-quality furniture and comfortable beds. No cheap Ikea furniture here. It's tasteful throughout and well considered. A lamp in the living room was the only thing we felt was missing, as we had to light candles to avoid the harshness of the overhead light. The cottage is dog-friendly, with a big, fully-enclosed yard, which surrounds the cottage from front to back. This was a great feature, as, already mentioned, there are no footpaths, so walking dogs is a bit of a challenge. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it. We not only found the cottage very comfortable, but the owner was very thoughtful in the small finishing touches, such as a dog bed and dog treats, adding washing tablets and clothes pegs...etc... all the small living details that are often missed.

Perfect for families, this fabulous home offers a wealth of on-site amenities, as well as great positioning to the coastline and nearby historic sites.

Inside, you will find everything you need for a self-catered stay, including an amply-equipped kitchen/diner, where dishes can be rustled up to be enjoyed at the sizeable table for six, as well as a sitting room complete with plush seating and a centrepiece woodburning stove that serves as the social hub of the house.

As the evening grows darker, indulge in a luxurious dip in the outdoor hot tub, where you and your loved ones can take in the stunning views of the clear night sky, before retiring to one of three tastefully-decorated king-size bedrooms, idyllic spots that will help to soothe and rejuvenate you after a long day of exploring.

If you can tear yourself away from your peaceful lodgings, take a trip into Lybster, where those looking to practice their golf swing can do so at the Lybster Golf Club, whilst the rest of the family can spend time petting animals at the North Coast 500 Animal Farm Time animal park.

Station Houses is the perfect base to explore the North Coast 500, a circular route taking in some of Scotland's most beautiful scenery and considered one of the worlds most scenic road trips.

A short drive east along the coast will bring you to Wick, home to attractions such as The Old Anchor, Black Stairs and Ebenezer Place, the world's shortest street, whilst a car journey west will take you to quaint village of Helmsdale, where the historic landmarks of Helmsdale Clock Tower and Emigrants Monument can be enjoyed.

All of this and much more await during a stay at Station House.
