  • "Fantastic property."

Lots of space and located in a perfect location to explore Glenfinnan. Kitchen was well equipped and lovely to have the balcony to sit and enjoy the morning coffee and the evening stargazing. Owners were very helpful as well. A stunning getaway for the October break.

The property

Resting in a simply superb setting overlooking the beautiful Loch Shiel in Glenfinnan close to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands, Loch TroChraobhan is the perfect destination for a special family holiday or get-together of family and friends.

The house has that all-important ‘wow’ factor which is evident from the minute you park up on the ample driveway and begin to unload.

The property has been tastefully designed to make the most of the sublime location with glimpses of the loch visible through the mature trees, which add up to create a truly tranquil backdrop to the property.

Enter the house and make your way upstairs to the impressive open-plan living space which has been located here to maximise those spectacular views.

Curl up on the sofa in the sitting area in front of the woodburning stove and soak up the scenery while the designated chef can step into the amply fitted kitchen and rustle up some delicious food for the holiday party (that is, if you’re not eating out at any number of fantastic eateries available within a short distance of the house) before sitting down in the stylish dining area and looking forward to long, leisurely meals together.

Throw open the patio doors and take a cocktail on the balcony overlooking the trees and the loch beyond or make your way downstairs to the ground-floor sitting room which offers a relaxing sanctuary perfect for chilling out watching TV or curling up with a good book.

Outside, you can make the most of the dark skies and watch the stars glisten over the loch and when it’s time for bed, take yourself to one of three wonderfully appointed bedrooms which have fabulous views and are the ideal space for resting weary heads.

In the morning, after a rejuvenating shower or relaxing bath and a refreshing coffee on the balcony, it’s time to get out and about exploring.

Start your Scottish Highland adventure with a cruise on Loch Shiel followed by discovering the Glenfinnan Monument, the Glenfinnan Visitor Centre and the Glenfinnan Station Museum.

Harry Potter fans can also take the opportunity to watch the train crossing the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct.

For those with energy to burn or dogs to walk, there is an abundance of walking and hiking trails from the door including the Sgurr Thuilm and Gulvain peaks.

Those who love the water can kayak, paddle board, canoe or even swim in the Loch.

Jump in the car and head into Fort William which is well worth a visit for a browse and to stock up on essentials.

Whilst there take a tour of the Ben Nevis Whiskey Distillery (make sure to have a designated driver if you fancy a wee dram!), the West Highland Museum, Steall Waterfall or the beautiful Glencoe Nature Reserve.

Ben Nevis is nearby where you can go skiing in the winter or in the summer, you can try out the well known mountain biking course here.

For a stay to remember forever, book a break at the impressive Loch Tro Chraobhan.

About the location

GLENFINNAN

Fort William 17 miles.

Set at the brink of Loch Shiel, the sleepy little village of Glenfinnan offers a fascinating history and is served by its own railway station, pub and tiny Post Office. Glenfinnan’s station doubles as the Glenfinnan Station Museum, which tells the tale of the West Highland Railway, with steam trains trundling by through the season. Also as this is the West Coast mainline, trains run daily from the village to Glasgow via Fort William and Glencoe and the line has been voted as being one of the most beautiful journeys in the world. Enjoy a scenic walk to the National Trust’s Glenfinnan Monument, where spectacular views across the loch and rising mountains can be enjoyed, followed by afternoon tea in the café, or cruise across the waters of Loch Shiel, with the opportunity to spot golden eagles flitting overhead. The area surrounding the village also offers a myriad of walking trails through vivid Highland scenery, with a variety of levels to suit many abilities. Nearby Fort William lies on the banks of Loch Linnhe, and offers a good selection of shops, and pubs serving a fine selection of meals. Ski enthusiasts will enjoy the Nevis Range, a ski resort with a mountain gondola, along with a World Cup mountain biking course. For a more relaxing break, why not take a tour of the Ben Nevis Whisky Distillery? Glenfinnan offers a peaceful location for exploring the best of the breathtaking West Highlands.
