• "We had a wonderful time at Woodland Villa."

  There is literally everything you could possibly need here, and it's so nice to come somewhere where they've provided hand soap, and some oil, kitchen roll etc. The front room was our favourite part of the house with the fire on at night and plenty of space for everyone. It's a really spacious property with lovely big windows, cosy lighting and a feeling of being in the middle of nowhere. Can also attest to hide and seek being great fun here! If you're unsure whether to book, definitely do! Oban is a fab place with so much just down the road, and the ferries are close for visiting any Islands. We've had an absolute whale of a time and we'd not hesitate to book again. Thank you so much for a great holiday

• "We loved our 2 week stay at Woodland Villa."

  It has everything and more... than you would ever need for your stay here. So peaceful and relaxing. It is very handy for the town and ferries. We always used our car due to mobility issues and never had any problemss parking in the town. Julie and Dougie are just a call away if needed. Thankyou to you both

• "This is a lovely home."

  It is bright, spacious, spotlessly clean and well equipped with all modern amenities. The oiled fired central heating keeps the property warm and cosy and is separate from the wood burning stove. Thus you do not need to use the stove if you are unfamiliar with them or do not need it. The beds, sofas and chairs are comfortable. It is right in the centre of Oban but bear in mind a steep downhill walk of 10 minutes into town and a steep 25 minutes to get back. Very well positioned for days out and loads to do in the area. Had a lovely holiday.

• "The microwave in the property was too complicated to use - even the owner couldn't get it to work or provide the instruction booklet."

  The owner supplied a basic microwave (same day) which was the perfect solution. The property was immaculately clean and was very spacious. The location was very quiet but only a few minutes from the centre of Oban.

• "We had a family gathering off six adults staying for a week at Woodland Villa."

  It is a lovely large house which was very clean and well equipped. The three bedrooms are very spacious and all the beds we found very comfortable. Lovely powerful showers in all the bathrooms too. The only minor problem was the main oven control was a little loose so not easy to know whether the temperature set was quite right. It’s in a great location with a path at the end of the drive that takes you downhill to the town. It’s only a few minutes walk from McCaigs Tower which has stunning views over Oban. I would definitely stay again.

• "We didn't use every room as just two of us!"

  Generally speaking, no real issues (clean bedding, cutlery, towels, etc), but being picky, the kitchen paintwork around the cooker and sink needs attention and there is general decor wear and tear in the hall/stairs. The ensuite shower needs re-sealing as is now discoloured. The kitchen table is badly marked and the chairs are faded. Appreciate not all guests look after a holiday let as they should, so it's difficult to keep on top of jobs! Still a good place to stay and the kitchen and lounge were pleasantly light and bright. We saw red squirrels in the garden and deer up the road; Oban was a lovely break; the scenery is spectacular, there is everything you need in town and the weather was kind.

• "We rented Woodlands as a couple as we like lots of space."

  The cottage has everything thing you may want for a relaxing stay. Just a short walk into town, it is well located to tour the islands. We would fully recommend the walks around Kerrera and Lismore. For those with mobility issues do note the cottage is up a hill. The broadband was reliable and worked well.

• "A beautiful cottage and everything was perfect."

  Yes it was hilly walking into Oban (10 minute walk) but it was all downhill. A taxi back is a fiver (plus if you like to tip). Woodland Villa is honestly faultless. My husband and I had a wonderful time just chilling away from hustle & bustle of work. Peaceful, quiet location. Lots of parking space if you want to take the car into Oban or take the ferry literally a 2 minute drive. We would highly recommend this lovely cottage that has everything you need for a perfect tranquil stay. Thank You so much.

• "Just got back from a lovely week in Oban at a beautiful house, really well laid out and perfect for a family of 4, we had a couple of rainy days but it didn’t matter as there was plenty of films etc to keep us going."

  While it’s a bit of a hike to the town centre it’s easily manageable although it’s a bit of a climb The heating is on a timer which is perfect as it’s warm in the morning and cozy in the evening, the fire in the lounge kicks out some amazing amount of heat I would recommend this property to all

• "We had looked at several holiday properties, but all with on road parking, which was far from ideal."

  So when we saw this one with off road parking it sealed the deal. It was perhaps too big for our needs as there was only two of us. But it felt quite decadent! The property was well equipped, very comfortable, spacious and with a powerful shower(s) to wake you up in the morning. The immediate area was quiet and peaceful, with only a short walk down into the hustle and bustle of Oban town. If you enjoy outdoor pursuits, then Oban is a great base. If you are a fish lover, then you will be spoilt for choice with the local restaurants. All in all we enjoyed a great holiday, blessed with fine sunny weather and the property was a great find!

  there is a facebook group, specifically around Sykes and the many other names they operate. Hopefully you will not survive the economic downturn. Property was amazing. Location was equally amazing. Owner of the property was also exceedingly nice.

  Neither of which should have been in service. My overall impression of the property is that it is in need of a complete freshen up as it was tired looking. Nothing a good lick of paint and some new crockery wouldn’t sort out. The cleanliness was on point. What a great base for touring though.

  Just back from our week at Woodland Villa and we both thought it was wonderful. The bedrooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, the bathrooms were lovely, the kitchen well equipped with everything you could need. We just loved it, so spacious and airy. We often rate places we rent by the size and quality of their towels and we weren't disappointed here. Ample towels of a good size and quality. This is a great find and I'd highly recommend it.

Only slight disappointment was lack of views, but that was probably down to us not reading the description properly. We have used Sykes for many years and have never been disappointed with their service. We'll be looking for next year's holiday soon!

  Cottage was larger than we thought, very roomy but very comfortable and quiet, peaceful surroundings. Just a, few things needed some attention, i e the door handle did not shut the doors securely, and the main oven did not work in the cooker. Having said that we had a lovely time.

  10minute walk sees you in middle of town for restaurants. Stay would be ideal in the summer as using the conservatory not ideal in winter as it is quite cold. Very clean. Some restaurant recommendations from the owners would be a good addition to the welcome manual.

  Mrs McNeil came over to ensure we were not cold and showed how to turn on the heating as first day was very wet. However we didn't need to bother her at all following that visit.Details for Woodland Villa were spot on and the whole property was very spacious and contained all the facilities we required plus some more! We didn't use the outside space as it was rather shady and we preferred to go into Oban itself. Our cousins who were to join us didn't in the end so the Villa was more than we needed. It would be good to have greater flexibility to change accommodation especially if it is well in advance of the date. The extra cost seemed excessive.

  The house was very large and would easily accommodate 6 people, with 3 full bathrooms. It was very convenient for getting into Oban- there is a path down into town right next to the house which took about 15 minutes, walking back is all uphill, but if you a reasonably fit it is not an issue. Lovely part of the world, beautiful scenery, we even saw deer ( mum and two babies) walking in the greenery on the slope at the back of the house. The walk to McCaigs tower is just a few minutes walk away.

  The property does not have any coastal view. However the property is outstanding and makes up for any short comings by way of lack of view. It is a very peaceful position. We all enjoyed our holiday very much.

  Description was to a tee, location was perfect for a 17min walk into town, although steep roads , maybe not suitable if anyone has walking difficulties. All facilities were great, especially the wood burner, used it every night. Comfortable clean and quiet. Can not fault it at all. Oban is a lovely place , friendly people plenty to do, restaurants and eating places were really nice, and lovely seafood. Will certainly return.

  Plenty of things to do, lots of coach trips to the local areas and ferries over to the islands sitting to the west of this coastline, we enjoyed our week visiting this picturesque part of the Scottish highlands and would love to return in the future.
