  • "Wonderful quiet (except for the roaring stags - it was the rutting season!"

Acharacle is an area I know well and Rose Cottage is perfectly positioned to walk or cycle into the village and plitter around and about , over to the beach at Ardtoe for example or the secret beach at Newton . The village has public toilets , a children’s play park , a shop, a 24 hour garage, a hotel and 2 cafes . There is a boat that goes down Loch Shiel to Glenfinnan twice a week in season . Rose Cottage is spacious , with a new bathroom and a lovely well equipped kitchen .The garden is big and fully enclosed . Delightful ! Many thanks .

Last time the weather was wonderful but this time it was awful! But the cottage and the area is still just as lovely. Lovely to see the deer come in the garden. Easy to get day trips to Mull and Skye from here too. If you intend to eat out, you should book in advance as there aren't many places to go in the evening. Strontian Hotel is lovely for food and has great views.

  • "Rose cottage is such an ideal cottage to explore the wonderful scenery and wildlife of the Ardnamurchan peninsula."

Spacious, warm and clean, it more than met all of our requirements. I wouldn’t hesitate to book it again or recommend it to our friends. It is set in a nice quiet position with good views from the lounge of the towering hillside opposite and its early morning deer. Given my keen interest in wildlife the cottage gave me ready access to all of the varied subjects at Ardnamurchan. We actually ended up becoming quite nonplussed at seeing a golden eagle.

Upon Arrival to the cottage everything was spotlessly clean with everything that you needed and more. There was plenty of space around the cottage which I was not tripping over the friend. The views from the back of the property where amazing looking out to the mountains and the local wildlife. There was plenty to see and do in the local arear with plenty of amazing walks with some amazing views. We will definitely return to your cottage again in the future. Thank you.

  • "A lovely cottage in a beautiful area."

Having travelled and stayed all over the Highlands this was our first time on the Ardnamurchan Peninsular and it didn't disappoint. The cottage is well equipped and set in a peaceful location, regular visits from the local Red Deer and an abundance of garden birds. Secure garden with ample parking for the car. Only suggestion for the owners, as other guests have mentioned, would be a larger TV in the lounge. It's a large room and you're sat quite far away from the set so after a long day out it's difficult to enjoy any TV in the evenings.

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at Rose Cottage and enjoyed the beautiful Ardnamurchan Peninsular with all the wonderful things to do there, the scenery and wild life. I have noted other guests comments and have bought a new TV. Property Owner

I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay at Rose Cottage. The bathroom is to be upgraded this winter. The gardener had been away for two weeks due to family comments. We do not have sky and found nothing wrong with the reception from the freesat box after you had left. Plenty of walks right from the door or after a short drive. The storage heaters were more than adequate to keep the house warm in September. The owner was made aware that one of the two lounge ones needs fixing and was very helpful on the phone. There is a log-burning stove in the lounge in any case. Reliable wifi, maybe a little slower than city speeds, but fine for emails and browsing.

  • "A superb cottage - very warm and spacious."

one of the best we have stayed in and was a delight to return to at the end of the day. A couple of small points - there is a notice by the sink saying £100 would be charged for any blockages - this could also be helped by the inclusion of a cheap sink drainer to prevent items being washed into the sink drain. The TV is getting on a bit and the lcd screen is past its sell by date and in a room as big as the living room a bigger tv would be better. Also both the sky and tv remotes did not function. The freesat was not working and even the contact person and her son could not get it to work so for the 2 weeks we were without that facility. Apart from that - the cottage was one we would be happy to use again as the overall comfort and the kitchen (and utensils) was of a very high standard. The roads are easily driven with care and by using the correct passing places and we did not once have any problems along the single track roads but people must be aware that it will take time to get to places as there are a lot of lochs in the way of any direct route :) The scenery, which is what we went for, was superb and the living room and main bedroom window gave a great view. Overall - a 9 out of 10 for the cottage

Given travelling time /distance and late arrival often the case. With limited opening time of local shop, it would have been useful to have a few essentials supplied like bread and milk, tea etc. I suppose not able to fo because of Covid. • "The cottage was spacious clean and well equipped."

The views out of the back of the cottage (living room) were lovely and the garden was bigger than we have had when staying in previous cottages. I think what people need to be aware of is how remote this is from tourist attractions in terms of time due to the single track roads. There are several good pubs which have a good menu and welcome dogs within 10-15 minutes drive.

The beds were very comfortable and the log burner was well stocked and made the place very cosy. It is a lovely quiet spot with beautiful views of the mountains. However, in view of the pandemic I felt the cottage could have been cleaner. It clearly had only had a standard clean, not a deep clean - the TV remote controls, for example, were filthy and some of the plates were not as well washed as they could have been. Despite this it was a lovely week and I would recommend it for anyone looking for a cheaper, basic option.
