  • "We love this property."

It’s so well set out and equipped. Proximity to the beach makes it feel like the beach is your garden! We’ve been twice - two years in a row - and booked for a third year an hour after returning home this year.

Weather was good most days - odd rain shower and windy at times - but to be expected .. Loved the little island bites in tarbert got the most amazing black pudding and scallop roll. Saw golden eagles / and otters. Loved the highland cows wandering round. Dogs loved the beach walks and surrounding areas. Comfy beds - and a huge bath ! Beautiful island. Would definitely visit again.

It hopefully won’t be the last. The cottage is modern and comfortable. Views to the beach. The beach is just steps away. It’s a very special part of the world.

Surrounded by sheep! The cottage was Incredibly well stocked with provisions and almost every utensil ever made. Cottage modern and lovely inside. 14 mile single track road more like a roller-coaster to reach it. Pure solitude. Well worth driving around Harris and Lewis.

  • "This property what can I say , clean, beautifully presented , well equipped for cooking and on the beach literally."

The drive in is spectacular with views and wildlife galore ...not for the faint hearted if a 40 min drive for bread isn't your thing but we loved every minute.....Harris and isle of lewis are just stunning and definitely on our favourites list . Only thing with kids is the fact there is no loo upstairs ( in the middle of the night they wake u to go down lol ) but not really an issue . Can't recommend this property enough !!

Cleanliness of the highest order. All amenities were excellent and the houseware and provisioning of cutlery, crockery, appliances etc was first class. A beautiful home from home for the week and in the nicest setting imaginable. Thank you to Alasdair for his messages and help during our stay and for the lovely welcome pack too. The weather was amazing which added an extra level to the stay but even without it, it would have been a lovely stay I’m sure.

  • "We had the most fantastic week at Katie’s Cottage, the accommodation itself was lovely, really well appointed, especially the kitchen, and beautifully clean."

The location is perfect; we were originally supposed to be there in April 2020 and we held onto the booking, looking forward to the holiday so much that we worried it might not meet our expectations, what actually happened is that it was even better than we expected - a slice of Heaven that was the perfect antidote to the last two years - we (the humans) and the dog, were very very sad to leave, and the test of a good holiday, can’t wait to return.

  • "We spent a very relaxing and therapeutic break at Katie’s Cottage."

The cottage was lovely and warm, very comfortable, of a very high standard and it contained everything we needed. It was well worth the journey to the end of the road. Watching and listening to the sea on a couple of stormy days was wonderful. We were very sad to leave and will be back.

It is. Beautiful! The dog loved it. We loved it. Very clean, tidy and superbly equipped , the house is ideal for a family or two couples. Great break, great place.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Katie's Cottage which was very comfortable and extremely well equipped."

The bed linen and towels were of a quality very much appreciated. We definitely hope to return. It would have been helpful to have information about bin collection and WiFi password. We found this info in among guest book comments. A laminated information sheet (Covid wipeable) including refuse and WiFi info would be useful in addition to appliance manuals. Otherwise perfect holiday accommodation.

Very well refurbished and comfortable cottage containing all what is required. Interactions with Landlord easy. Very good walks around the area.

About the location

TARBERT

Lochgilphead 14 miles.

Built around an inlet on Loch Fyne, Tarbert has long been both a harbour and a key strategic point in the history of Scotland's rugged West Coast. Tarbert once required three castles to protect it, and the ruins of one of these can still be visited today. Built around the natural harbour, fishing and sailing continue to play an important part in the life of the village. There are many annual events to interest all tastes including the sailing regatta on Loch Fyne, seafood and music festivals. The 87 mile Kintyre Way stretches from Tarbert to the south of the Kintyre Peninsula, and offers walking for all levels and with ferry connections to Islay and Arran, there is simply no better location to relax and explore this rugged and picturesque part of Scotland.
