  • "Perfect location for exploring Salisbury."

Great support when requested. Amenities were thoughtfully provided. I really enjoyed the library and I’d recommend this location to anyone visiting Salisbury. Thank you!

  • "The internet connection was so poor it would have been more honest to remove it and promote the property as a digital detox retreat."

Apart from that it was most delightful.

Thanks for the feedback. The internet has been tested is showing a speed of 18mbs. A computer seems to work there OK and the television is working normally on catch-up. It is basic broadband and not fibre. Further details would help to investigate with the internet provider. Thanks Property Owner

The cottage is well located with just a short walk into town and around the corner from the Cathedral Close gate. It is comfortable, practical and well-equipped and a perfect home-from-home! Thanks very much, we'll be back!

Situated not far from the city centre this nice house has all the amenities you need for a pleasant stay. Would recommend a visit to Salisbury market which is held Tuesday/Sat and a visit to the Royal George pub in Bedwin St, nice beer and friendly people. Looking forward to a repeat visit next year. • "We were spending a week in Salisbury and travelling out to various interesting places."

This property appeared to suit our needs. If you're looking for somewhere modern, bright and shiny, this is not the place for you. However, we needed a central base and were not looking to spend much time in it, so this was adequate. The description on Sykes website describes the house as 'basic' which I think is fair. The heating works well, if needed. Water pressure is excellent. It's within a short walk of the Cathedral and town centre. The 3 ticking clocks downstairs drove me nuts, and were consigned to a cupboard for the duration of the stay! No problems, but I would recommend replacing the very old and somewhat stained teaspoons. We didn't eat in so didn't need to use the old cutlery, which I guess has been deliberately placed in line with the old/antique house theme. However, the teaspoons were off putting, in my view. We recommend the Rai D'Or Thai just around the corner. A slightly odd mix of pub and restaurant, but don't be put off as it's very friendly and the best Thai food I've ever had. Also recommend the Indian Anokaa. Not cheap but very good and slightly different. Baroushka Lebonese, good food but far too noisy for us. Travelling out, we enjoyed Stonehenge and particularly Avebury. A very lovely area and we enjoyed Salisbury.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback and we're glad that you found The Townhouse to be a good location for exploring the surrounding areas. Thank you also for bringing to our attention some issues which we will pass on to the owner, and also for your recommendations regarding local pubs and restaurants. • "Furnishings etc not really good enough."

Needs upgrading and some basics simply missing - eg cereal bowls! Good position in the town though and parking permit system works well with spaces always available around the corner.

Many thanks for your comments. The owner has confirmed that the property has been redecorated and all new crockery and untensils have been put in . It does have a supurb town centre position and lends itself to a perfect base to explore the local area. Property Owner

  • "A charming little terraced house in the perfect spot for a couple wanting to explore the city with ease."

Surprisingly quiet given central location and closeness to the pavement. Internal decor brought back childhood memories of my granny's house but very cosy, clean and comfortable. Parking, shower, broadband and central heating all worked fine so we enjoyed a very relaxing and enjoyable week. Many thanks.

  • "128 Love Lane is perfectly situated for visits to the cathedral, local museums, art gallery in the library, local shops etc."

We really loved staying there. It's not the kind of spick and span, purpose built accomodation but is more for those (like us) who prefer somewhere more homely and interesting, with character and a lived in and loved feel about it. It is absolutely full of fascinating bits and pieces and was very cosy in the evening when we snuggled up to watch dvds or to eat at the table. It's only a short drive to Stonehenge or Old Sarem and also well worth the longer drive to Avebury Stone Circle. There are so many interesting things to see all around. Evensong at the cathedral is lovely (even though there is scaffolding up inside at the moment as they do repairs) and seeing the magna Carta was quite a thrill. The fridge is an under counter one with a tiny freezer compartment but there is no need to buy in bulk as there is a range of shops in walking distance (Tesco, M&S and more) plus a great choice of restaurants. I would recommend the 'Cafe Diwali' for some freshly made, delicious Indian food. Having a washing machine was extrememly useful (there's an airer in the cupboard under the stairs to hang the clothes on, if it's too wet to put them outside). We were really sorry to have to leave after a week as there was a lot more still to see and do and we felt very at home in this delightful little house.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are glad that you felt at home and hope to welcome you back soon! Property Owner

I think that, had we known there'd be quite so many ornaments (little trinkets, ornamental plates everywhere), we probably would have chosen somewhere else on account of the fact that we had our 17 month old with us who likes to....'investigate' and explore! Amazed we didn't break anything!

Our direct contact for the property was very nice and helpful - so our experience was quite a good one and we enjoyed our stay in Love Lane Town House. The only negative point to be mentioned is the cancellation policy: it is a severe problem for anyone booking from outside UK as cancellation is not possible in any way (f.e. when somebody gets ill or worse). Best regards from Vienna !

This small and simple Victorian terrace is positioned perfectly for those wanting to explore the City of Salisbury and the surrounding areas. Sat alongside some of the oldest houses within the City, The Townhouse, is only a few minutes’ walk from the City centre.

Inside, the property is very benefitting its history, with the owners presenting it in a simple, period style, filled with antiques.

Relatively basic, it nevertheless is well equipped and very comfortable and represents very good value for money for such a central location.

The two bedrooms consist of one double and one single, with a bathroom featuring a shower, basin and WC.

Parking is available on the street in front of the property in a public car park which is 100 yards away (daily charge).

About the location

SALISBURY

Andover 17 miles; Southampton 23 miles

The medieval city of Salisbury is the jewel in Wiltshire's crown, dominated by the majestic 13th century Gothic cathedral. The cathedral offers 750 years of history including Britain's tallest spire, the world's best preserved original Magna Carta, and Europe's oldest working clock. The surrounding cathedral close, full of architectural gems, is bordered by the River Avon and ancient Chilmark stone walls. The city offers historic streets with charming half-timbered buildings, traditional pubs, characterful shops and a twice-weekly market. Or, stroll along the Town Path and take in the awe-inspiring views across the water meadows towards the cathedral. After dark, there's a thriving arts scene, including one of the country's leading repertory theatres, a lively arts centre, cinema and a wealth of independent restaurants. Should you want to explore further afield then a short drive from Salisbury takes you to Stonehenge, the National Trust's Stourhead House and gardens, majestic Wilton House, as well as the New Forest National Park, and the Hampshire and Dorset coasts. There's so much to see and do in Salisbury and surrounding area that your only concern will be finding the time to do it all!
