  • "A little misleading about it having 3 bathrooms."

When 1 was a jack and Jill bathroom and 1 other. Apart from that we had a great stay

  • "Very comfortable place to stay with everything you could need."

High quality products provided. Good location near to lots of attractions and plenty of information about the area. I would have found it useful to have some local pubs or restaurants recommended.

  • "Dear Team The property overall is extremely well equipped and comfortable the beds especially."

Showers absolutely great. Tv programs limited as not a Smart tv and no Freeview. Poor signal. It was strange that there was no toilet roll holder on wall just on the floor which could be very awkward if you have a disability eg arthritis We have suggested a clothes prop for washing line, and an egg slicer. Outstanding views. We met owner Dave who was a star, so very friendly.

  • "Brookside Byre is better in person than the photos show."

Very spacious, comfortable and excellently equiped Kitchen. Lovely welcome of easter decorations with easter eggs, eggs from their chickens and milk in the fridge and a detailed welcome book. Fantastic setting with lovely walks (map in the welcome book), being very rural but only a short drive to local facilities and we had ordered an ASDA delivery for the first nights stay. Highly recommended location for visiting Brancepeth Castle, Raby Castle, Beamish, Durham etc. Vickie popped in to welcome us with recommendations of local attractions and takeaway restaurants. Thank you for a lovely stay!

  • "It was a beautiful cottage and location."

It was very comfortable with great facilities. The hosts were friendly and helpful. Pretty walks from the cottage including a disused railway. So much to do in the area it's hard to choose. They were working on the heating but it was very hot in there and the beds were very hard. Otherwise a wonderful stay.

  • "What a superb property."

I could live there. Spacious, clean, well equipped. Rural but not too far from places of interest. Mrs Jackson popped in to brief us on the first day and later with a gift of fresh eggs. Entirely suitable for a guest in a wheelchair. (My wife)

  • "Gorgeous well maintained property with lovely views."

Plenty of amenities & places to explore nearby to keep the grandchildren occupied. Kids loved having a look around the farm site and seeing the machinery especially the tractors. Slight issue with Intermittent wi-fi but did not spoil our stay.

  • "I don’t normally use holiday cottages but due to the pandemic I decided to book a short break at Brookside Byre."

The cottage is located in a very peaceful and beautiful part of the country with the cities of Durham, Sunderland and Newcastle a relatively short drive away. The cottage itself was immaculately clean and furnished to a high standard, it had all the necessary equipment and more, as we did not find ourselves wanting for anything. I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough and if you are looking for a break in the Durham area then this is the place to book.

  • "The accommodation was even better than the photos suggested."

We are two small families who are great friends and like to go on holidays every two years, as we live a long way from each other. Thus a big shared communal space is vital as we love to cook together and play games of an evening. One of us has mobility problems also, so the accessibility of Brookside Byre was excellent.

  • "The cottage was lovely, the view was spectacular."

on arrival the owner had left a home made lemon drizzle cake for us. Also a jug of milk in the fridge, which was a most appreciated gesture. The kitchen was well stocked. Loved the bathrobes. The furniture in the lounge was not the most comfortable as it all sloped backwards. Would go again.

  • "My holiday at brookside byre was great."

This was the second time i have stayed here and would do again. The little extras provided like arriving to a home baked cake and milk in the fridge just make it that bit special. The underfloor heating keep it warm if a bit hard to figure out to start with. The kids took full advantage of a tv in each room but also loved feeding the chickens. My only complaint is a personal preference as i like a softer bed and the beds are definitely on the firm/hard side but my husband was happy as he likes firm. My parents came and joined us for a few nights and again was perfect as all on one level so no problems with stairs and a seat for the shower is provided. A footstool in the living room i think would have made it even better but i really am getting picky. Thankyou for a lovely stay i hope we get to come again in the future its a lovely place to visit.
