  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at AD Coach House."

Everything was well set up for a comfortable stay in a great location. We have been before a number of times and there is a reason why we keep coming back. Just perfect, too, for our canine companion.

  • "The bunk room is TINY."

Barely room to move. Manageable for a weekend, but not great for anything longer. 1 loo roll for 6 people is a bit mean.

  • "Second visit."

Fantastic area to visit. Love this cottage, very comfortable with great view up the hills opposite. Unfortunately Gardner currently ill therefore garden needs some maintenance. I managed to borrow shears from the neighbour and cut back the bushes across the path but unfortunately they didn’t have a strimmer, so grass still needs cutting. Hopefully we will return

  • "We had a great time at this cottage."

Great location and very well presented with lovely surprise welcome gifts. Perhaps putting some thicker/lined curtain in the bedrooms would be an improvement. The only gripe is the parking which is very tight as the neighbouring cottage shares a space hemmed in on 3 sides by stone walls, there are other places to park but If you need access to the EV chargepoint it’s a challenge. We managed without blocking the neighbours but bring a long cable would be my recommendation. Charging is included in the cost of the stay so no need for apps or RFID’s. Sykes cottages really need to up their game when it comes to providing detailed information on EV charging in the description.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at AD Coach House: the view out the window, overlooking the Dale, just sets the tone for the whole stay."

We found the cottage clean, comfy and well equipped. We would recommend AD Coach House to anyone wanting to get the best out of a stay in Swaledale, being able to set off from the door to explore a beautiful area.

  • "The best thing about the cottage is the lovely location, such a beautiful part of the Dales, we always enjoy spending time in this part of the country."

Not just that, the cottage was very comfortable and really well equipped, despite being a little on the snug side size wise for our family (2 adults, 3 children) and our four legged companion. We did have an issue with wasps coming in the bathroom and bunk room window, which we made the gardener(maintenance?) guy aware of and he was pleased to be informed and said he would look into this. A word of caution however - beware and park in the allocated space ( which we had not properly understood), the neighbour is very vocal and particular about “his” spaces.

  • "Loved our stay so much we have already booked for next year."

Fabulous views from front of cottage, nice little outside area to sit and relax and enjoy the scenery. We have an electric car so the EV charger made the holiday stress free. Washer/dryer another bonus. Took an outdoor dog stack so we could relax while enjoying the sunshine knowing the dog was safe. Lovely circular walks from the cottage. 4 pubs in walking distance, as well as an ice cream parlour. The bike cafe opposite do a fab all day breakfast batch as well as a fabulous selection of cakes. Only slight improvement would be to have a thick sponge cushion on the pew seats at the dining table as the seat was slightly too low for the table. Fremington is in a beautiful area of The Dales.

  • "A really lovely cottage in a great location!"

Not sure it's big enough for 6 people though, as you would definitely need another bathroom/toilet and a much bigger fridge, but it was fine for us. We could have done with a small shelf above the sink, but appreciate that the bathroom is soon to be refurbished anyway so that doesn't really matter. We'll be back to stay for sure. Thanks for a lovely week.

  • "Lovely well finished and cosy property."

Not sure it would be ideal for 6 people. Daily living accomm doesn't reflect the upstairs area. Eg: The kitchen is a bit tight, and 6 folk around the dining table would be even cosier. As a couple with a pooch, we would deffo stay there again. Ideal location, with a handy stroll to Reeth and Grinton. Lovely enclosed garden and table if lucky with the weather!

We stayed previously at AD Coach House cottage and can see how well the cottage has been renovated and brightened up. The upstairs is much as before, but the comfort and facilities downstairs have been substantially improved. We have already made plans to return.

  • "We stayed for 3 nights recently at this beautiful cottage."

It's in a wonderful setting. The cottage was spotlessly clean. The decor is beautiful and modern, but in keeping with style of the cottage. There were little touches, like the bubbly left for our arrival and coffee pods for our use. There were 5 of us staying and plenty of room for us all. Loved everything about this cottage. I would definitely recommend. Oh, and the pub over the bridge, very friendly and accommodating ☺️.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this property."

There is plenty to do in the area and the scenery is stunning. The property is furnished to a high standard and was clean and comfortable. The only problem we encountered was that as a party of five we found the size of the saucepans limited what we could cook (a casserole dish would have been useful). All in all a great stay.

It’s perfectly placed between Reeth and Grinton, with lovely strolls along the river to either. The cottage itself is beautifully presented with good quality fittings, linens, furniture and so on, throughout. It has been lovingly restored and provided a lovely base for a holiday in this beautiful area.

About the location

REETH

Leyburn 8 miles; Richmond 11 miles; Barnard Castle 15 miles; Kirkby Stephen 22 miles.

The pretty, ever-popular village of Reeth rests at the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where Arkengarthdale and Swaledale meet, nestled between Calver Hill, Fremington Edge and Harkerside. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with lovely rolling hills and spectacular views, Reeth boasts a colourful history as it was originally a Saxon settlement, and has also been known as a lead mining town and a centre for hand knitting throughout its time. Both trades are proudly featured in the Swaledale Museum, located alongside a good range of shops, tea rooms and restaurants. For a quaint little community, Reeth is well-served by traditional inns, with three to choose from, including the lovely Buck Hotel, whitewashed like so many of the 18th century cottages huddled around the triangular village green. The historic market towns of Richmond and Leyburn are also within easy reach, offering a further selection of amenities. Askrigg is just a short drive away, as well as Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force (England's highest single drop waterfall at 99ft). Reeth offers a fantastic base for exploring North Yorkshire's beautiful, sweeping countryside, whether you choose to discover the caves, cliffs, waterfalls or the plethora of walking and cycling routes that circle this vibrant and varied landscape.
