  • "We really enjoyed our 2nd stay."

He views from the garden are too kill for. We loved sitting in the garden looking after the wonderful views. The kitchen is very worn and could do with a revep. The bottom runner on the kitchen unit under the sink. Come fall off just after we arrived. Some of the units looked like they seen better days. The heater in the main bedroom did not work as the switch on the wall was turned off on our arrival. You could see some crumbs on the floor in the kitchen area. As we had to remove the mats as they were a hazard, But overall, we had an amazing time.

  • "The holiday cottage was lovely and the facilities were great, the only thing was the television needs updating as it wouldn’t work on normal free view channels."

Also couldn’t find correct information about the recycling point but found one in Reeth which is good to know. Fantastic cottage overall

  • "We very much enjoyed our stay at Hobson's which had everything we needed."

There were plenty of leaflets with suggestions of things to do and the cottage was well placed to walk to pubs and restaurants in Grinton and Reeth. The bottle of prosecco was a pleasant surprise, particularly as we were there to celebrate a birthday, although half a dozen tea bags and a small bottle of milk would have been more useful for our first evening. However, coffee was provided.

  • "Another great stay at Hobsons cottage."

So handy for Reeth, and the views from the window are great.Very clean, as always. The bed is really comfy, not too soft or too hard. Kitchen is looking a little tired, which we passed on to the cottage's manager, and we received an email very quickly saying they would let the owners know. One thing to note is just how steep and narrow the stairs are inside the property, so perhaps not ideal for anyone infirm. We will be staying again.

  • "Overall OK Couple of items maybe would have helped make it better."

Outside waste bin was overflowing when we arrived which wasn’t very hygienic. While the bottle of whine and carton of crisps was very nice some salt and maybe a few teabags would have been very welcome. We did however enjoy our stay.

Everything you need The views are to kill for . We could sit looking at them all day. So peaceful. The welcome pack was ok. But think the following would of been better. Bread and milk. As we arrived about 7pm and no shop near by. We planning on coming back next year.

  • "Lovely little cottage, well appointed too."

Possibly not suitable for the elderly or infirm due to the steep staircase, plenty to do in the area. The only addition I would make would be having a hair dryer in the property.

  • "Parking situation was wholly inadequate."

Parking was in a layby where anyone could park, so a space wasn't guaranteed. It was much further from the cottage than was stated AFTER we booked. Fire precautions were a concern. The front door doubled as the fire escape and there was no means of escape downstairs. If a fire was to start upstairs in the living area, anyone downstairs in the bedroom/bathroom area would be trapped.

Absolutely stunning location. Gorgeous little cottage, great size for a small family. Appreciated the bottle of Prosecco as it was a trip for our mini moon. We had a wonderful time. Great selection of pubs in Reeth. Only downside is a neighbour was very rude to us over parking, but obviously this is nothing to do with the cottage. Bed comfortable, got a great nights sleep. Cottage was lovely and cool respite from the heatwave. Can’t fault at all. Thanks so much.

Cosy and welcoming. Good accurate description on the website and clear details regarding arrival and entry. The cottage was clean and tastefully furnished with everything you would need. Only slight negatives - sofa was not comfortable - we both got backache, and kitchen knives need sharpening or replacing. However, we will still be back! We loved the location which was peaceful but also convenient for exploring the delights of Swaledale. Thanks.

  • "Enjoyable mini break in a lovely, clean, well equipped cottage."

The bed was very comfortable, although the electric shower, while nice and hot, didn't have much flow and I had to wash my hair using the bath tap shower head. The bedrooms down the very steep and narrow treaded stairs (beware if you have any mobility issues) have had a makeover since the photos and are well equipped and very comfortable. The kitchen has everything needed for self catering, including a coffee machine. The welcome basket of prosecco, crisps and 4 coffee pods was a nice touch. The only downside was the 5pm check in and 9am checkout, I understand that this may have been changed due to covid/cleaning etc, but this made it a rush to get up, packed and leave the place as we found it without setting the alarm to get up early, although we did it, but an extra hour would have helped so we could have had some breakfast as well! Set in a lovely location with views from the patio garden over Reeth and the surrounding hills, walking distance to Reeth where there are pubs serving food and a small corner shop which is quite well stocked, and a friendly pub in Grinton also serving food. We self catered and shopped at Tesco in Catterick Garrison on the way so didn't eat out on this trip. We did two 7 mile walks along the river and up along the tops of both sides of the valley, Fremington Edge and Harkerside where you can see for miles, which both us and our dog loved as we were very lucky with two days of lovely December sunshine! And there are plenty more walks right on the doorstep. The parking at the bottom of the hill a short walk away, was in a small lane shared with some cottages. All in all a great stay, we may need to return to explore more of the stunning local area!

  • "Lounge window is very drafty."

A chamois leather/cloth or Karcher machine to mop the window panes on cold mornings would be useful. Lounge rug keeps moving/slipping on the carpet. Would be good to be able to store bicycles in the shed (which is full of other stuff). Also, wheelie bin blocks easy access to the patio so perhaps it could 'live' on the patio and just be moved outside the gate on collection days? Couldn't get coffee maker green light to come on. Apart from these small practical things, we very much enjoyed staying in your cottage - it has such a homely, cosy feel. Loved sitting contemplating the view across to Reeth, watching the sheep and pheasants in the field - you might add a photo to show this (a real plus point). Thank you so much.

We had a perfect week away walking and river swimming. Road has no street name, so instructions finding it where great in day time. But at night could be easy to drive up the steep hill to another property called, "Hobsons". Would be great if the owners registered the property properly with Royal Mail as, "Hobson's Cottage". They can do so online https://www.royalmail.com/personal/receiving-mail/update-your-address. This would also help the owners of, "Hobsons", as a delivery driver left us their wince club delivery! Would also help people staying at, "Hobson's Cottage" to get food delivered from the big Tesco in Catterick.

It was exactly as advertised, surrounded by farmland and stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales and swale valley. Pet friendly and warm and cosy. Reeth is a lovely village and the cottage is 5 minute walk to shops and pub. The only tiny negative is the proximity to the road which is very busy throughout the day. Bed linen , crockery etc was all good quality . Had a great stay. fantastic walks right from the door of the cottage . Will definitely book again . The only down side was check in times 5 pm and leave at 9am it was such a rush to get out for 9am and leave the cottage as we found it . Makes it quite stressful you also lose a day of your holiday . I understand due to Covid the extra cleaning but check in and out times should be 3pm arrival and 11 am departure . It still gives 4 hours to clean . Other than that the Cottage was perfect .

We were not sure what to expect and found it suited us v well. Location is good with Reeth close by for shop, cafe and pubs. Also handy for flatter walk to Bridge Inn at Grinton. Good base for walking (or cycling). Nice patio to relax and enjoy view and sunshine. We mixed some pub meals with self-catering. No info in cottage (assume due to Covid). About the location

REETH

Leyburn 8 miles; Richmond 11 miles; Barnard Castle 15 miles; Kirkby Stephen 22 miles.

The pretty, ever-popular village of Reeth rests at the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where Arkengarthdale and Swaledale meet, nestled between Calver Hill, Fremington Edge and Harkerside. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with lovely rolling hills and spectacular views, Reeth boasts a colourful history as it was originally a Saxon settlement, and has also been known as a lead mining town and a centre for hand knitting throughout its time. Both trades are proudly featured in the Swaledale Museum, located alongside a good range of shops, tea rooms and restaurants. For a quaint little community, Reeth is well-served by traditional inns, with three to choose from, including the lovely Buck Hotel, whitewashed like so many of the 18th century cottages huddled around the triangular village green. The historic market towns of Richmond and Leyburn are also within easy reach, offering a further selection of amenities. Askrigg is just a short drive away, as well as Aysgarth Falls, Semerwater and Hardraw Force (England's highest single drop waterfall at 99ft). Reeth offers a fantastic base for exploring North Yorkshire's beautiful, sweeping countryside, whether you choose to discover the caves, cliffs, waterfalls or the plethora of walking and cycling routes that circle this vibrant and varied landscape.
