  • "4/4 for the cleanliness doesn't seem like high enough praise - the place was spotless, well furnished, exactly as described and everything that we could have wanted it to be."

Ian was friendly, approachable and always helpful and there's nothing more that we could have asked. Would recommend in a heartbeat and hope to stay there again

The cottage was clean and warm. The fresh eggs were delicious! The location was perfect for us. Whilst a dishwasher, washing machine and extra shower would be nice, they weren't necessary for a lovely short break. Thank you.

  • "We had a really lovely stay at Bramble Cottage and felt very comfortable and welcomed there."

The cottage was spotlessly clean and spacious and the welcome basket including tea, coffee, biscuits and milk was very appreciated by a big family like ours. The owners, who live in an adjacent property on the farm, were friendly and helpful, recommending local places to visit and things to see and do. They also gave us homegrown lettuce, onions and potatoes from the farm which we thought was so kind (and the produce was delicious!) The cottage is well located just a short drive to Durham city centre and is surrounded by gorgeous landscape and some lovely pubs. The Farmers Arms, a 10 minute walk away, was our favourite. We also enjoyed a trip to the nearby dairy farm to buy flavoured milk from their bespoke vending machine. We would definitely recommend this accommodation as well as a visit to this beautiful part of the UK.

  • "We had a great holiday and thoroughly enjoyed the location and the cottage."

The Cottage owners are wonderful and very helpful, supportive and friendly people on hand for a chat and guidance as needed. The cottage is lovely and it was spotless throughout, from the location we could easily access the coast, Durham and Newcastle - a great place to explore the area. From a constructive feedback point of view the only suggestion we would make is in relation to our group which comprised 6 adults. To enhance the property further an additional shower, larger fridge and a dishwasher would have been helpful. Overall though a lovely place in a great location - would happily recommend.

  • "What a wonderful week we had."

We hired both bramble and bracken cottages, with 6 adults in each and they were perfect, with plenty of space and the outside decked area was perfect for us to get together as a group. The owner, Ian and his wife could not do enough for us. Very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be booking again and would definitely recommend.

  • "Exceptionally clean and tidy accommodation in nice setting."

Very well organised, immaculate grounds. Felt very safe in terms of potential transmission of Covid 19. Parking good. Owner on site and available, very friendly - but not intrusive. Everything looked newly decorated and all furnishings including those in the kitchen were pristine. There were a few things which would improve the experience - but none would prevent us from staying again. These include: Lounge much smaller than looks on pictures with TV set way too high in wall to be watched comfortably - usually not an issue for us, but with poor weather it presented a slight problem. Only one tea towel and one towel per person which may have been deliberate due to current infection risks - and may have been indicated in blurb about property, but if it was I missed it. No washing machine/drying facilities other than heated towel rail. No dishwasher - which was not a problem and certainly not a deal breaker, but surprising given amount of space available in the kitchen. Fridge and freezer way too small for 6 people (total number of potential guests). If some of these suggestions could be taken on board , we would give the facilities a 5 star rating.

  • "Very happy with stay at Bramble Cottage."

The accommodation is in very good condition and was very clean. The location is in the countryside but only a few miles from Durham. Property manager lives on site and was very helpful. Cottage well equipped. Plenty of parking space and there is a decking area to spend time outside. Only build would be a larger fridge for a 6 person cottage.

  • "We were greeted on arrival, after a long 8 hour drive, by a lovely couple who opened the cottage and gave us a pint of milk."

They are there if you need them but otherwise you are left alone. Bags are provided for the kitchen rubbish and collected daily if put outside. There were tea bags, coffee and delicious, quality biscuits to welcome us. The cottage was roomy, warm and comfortable for a cold November. The area is very quiet, horse in a field in one direction and cows and sheep in others. A very rural area with just a country road passing by. The village of Sherburn with Coop, post office and wonderful bakers is nearby and a sizeable village shop in Ludworth, even nearer in the other direction. There was just two of us but the cottage sleeps six and we could choose our bed! A double and a twin are upstairs with lovely views over the countryside. The double has an ensuite with sink and toilet. The bathroom down stairs is a good size. The whole place is tastefully decorated and very modern, it is spotlessly clean. Plenty of good towels match the bathroom decor. We were very contented there. The couple came out of their cottage in the same grounds to say goodbye when we left at 7am after our 12 night stay.
