  • "Perfect place and location to escape the rat race, relax and enjoy the fantastic scenery."

    Still only a few minutes by car to Wolsingham for essentials. Cottage well kitted out, heating efficient and well equipped kitchen. Lots of walks on your doorstep, moors or Hamsterley Forest. Second stay in 12 months and ideal for us.

This is an outstanding, stone-built, semi-detached cottage set 900 feet up in the Hamsterley area, close to Wolsingham.

Blackburn Cottage Barn offers impressive holiday accommodation, ideal for extended families and groups of friends looking to discover this delightful area together.

With the benefit of its wonderful location within the North Pennines AONB, this cottage perches regally above the glorious surrounding countryside.

Bright and airy throughout, and offering spectacular views, guests will love to relax and unwind.

The attractive sitting room has lovely French doors overlooking the patio, whilst the kitchen/diner provides an excellent space to gather together over dinner and plan the forthcoming activities.

Both bedrooms have been well thought out with the second bedroom offering two bunk beds.

Outside, there is a spacious, enclosed patio area with furniture, offering a perfect setting for relaxing, pouring a nice cold drink and marvelling at the surrounding views and the abundant wildlife.

Birdwatchers will be particularly keen to know that this is one of the few holiday properties in England where black grouse are regularly seen from the house.

Blackburn Cottage Barn sits directly on one of the many Hamsterley Forest bridleways, giving easy access to a network of walking and cycle paths.

Bikes and horses can be loaned in the nearby Hamsterley Forest.

A short drive will take you to many local attractions including Barnard Castle, High Force and Durham Cathedral.

A little further afield are the delights of the Lake District or the Northumberland Heritage Coastline, or you can simply enjoy relaxing in your cottage.

This delightful cottage is perfect for a relaxing countryside break.

The picturesque town of Wolsingham is a quintessentially British market town in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Nestled in the beautiful valley of Weardale, the town is a popular stop-off point for visitors. The town boasts a number of well-regarded pubs, cafes and restaurants, as well as convenience shops and takeaways. In the town you’ll also find an indoor swimming pool and gym, grass bowls club, several picnic areas and a recreation ground with outdoor gym and playing fields. The town has plenty of amenities, including a Post Office, library, bank, gift and antique shops, grocery shops, bakery, butchers and greengrocers. Also all major supermarkets deliver here. Wolsingham Show is held on the first weekend in September and is the oldest agricultural show in the country. Wolsingham is superbly situated to enjoy the best of the north-east and is a very popular base for walking and cycling.
