  • "The house had not been cleaned and prepared when we arrived and we had to chase up the maintenance firm who sent the cleaners thereafter."

There several minor problems with broken catches etc. The owners who have made a good and well fitted our property are being badly let down by their maintenance and management company.

Thank you for your email - very useful. There were some roadworks which may have affected the timing of the cleaners getting to the property. We apologise for any inconvenience Property Owner

  • "1. Blind in top back bedroom could not be raised, so that the room could not be used normally; also no light bulb in the ceiling light."

From entries in the guest book it appears that this is a long standing problem which urgently needs fixing. 2. Directions for use of refuse bins need updating. The bins were full when we arrived.

Hi Marion thank you for the feedback. I just want to reassure you that the management company has not ignored the messages regarding the blind and have reinstated the blind each time. However sometimes I appreciate that such repairs may not completely remedy the problem. Thanks for raising again as I have arranged for the curtain maker to look at them. We had no idea of missing bulb so also useful to know. As with the rubbish. Sorry for this the bins are out out every other Monday so will be out this week following you’re visit. Unfortunately the bins were not collected by the council last week and the local refuse tip is closed. We are finding that local people are taking the liberty of using other people’s bins. An issue I am finding at my own house. Very helpful to have it hilighted. Otherwise I hope the house was up to standard Property Owner

  • "Our stay was perfect, apart from a few tiny issues."

According to the information book, black bin bags should have been provided. However, they were not so we purchased our own. The blind in the back top bedroom was broken (not a problem, but just pointing it out). Other than these very small issues, as I said, our stay was wonderful. The cottage was extremely well kitted out and beautifully renovated.

Thank you for your feedback and for pointing out the blind was broken as we were not aware of this. Hope to welcome you again Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at The Wheatley."

Our first impressions were great as we walked into a lovely and very warm house. Everything was very clean. The furniture and beds were comfortable and the fire is lovely to have on in the evening. The house is about a half hour walk from the centre of Ilkley and there is a walk directly up the hill to the Moor. There are also buses and the train station at Ben Rhydding is literally 5 minutes walk. We had one fussy teenage girl who stayed in the top room and one 11 year old boy who loved having a double bed all to himself. They absolutely loved the moor and climbing on all the rocks. It is a special place close to my heart, so it did my the world of good to be there. Thanks for having such a nice house.

  • "A tastfully decorated large house in a great location."

It is well laid out and presented with large rooms and a good size kitchen that is well equipped. Parking not an issue as plenty of spaces on the road itself. Would not hesitate to return as it offered beautiful views from the windows, a local pub to walk to for dinner on a couple of nights and easy access by car to some stunning scenery in the dales.

Thank you so much for your review - really appreciated. Hope to welcome you back some time. Happy new year x Property Owner

  • "The location and house were great overall."

I would come back. There were two minor things I mentioned to Ryan but didn't hear back: 1. We didn’t find any cutlery in the kitchen. This was inconvenient when we had already cooked dinner. Also a bit surprising because the kitchen was well equipped otherwise. 2. The fuse for the circuit on the ground floor tripped on our last evening. The lights in the kitchen and living room area didn’t work after that. It happened when it was raining outside and we turned on the lights in the conservatory area. We weren’t able to reset the fuse ourselves. Thanks for having us otherwise.

Hi there I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry for the inconvenience caused and thank you for bringing these points to our attention. A label has been put on the drawer to help guests find the cutlery drawer which is a drawer within a drawer. Apologies that you had the electrical problem - We will ensure this is addressed. Hope to welcome you to Ilkley again Property Owner

  • "We had a great stay at the Wheatley, it is a beautiful newly renovated property that has all you need for a great stay."

It looks even nicer in person and the photos don’t do it justice. It’s located on the edge of the lovely town of Ilkley with its many shops, great park and river and close to a lovely Italian restaurant just a 5min walk away. The property has lovely views and a morning coffee looking over the fields was much enjoyed! The house was really clean and the beds were made up to suit our group with the children having twin beds and the adults having King size. All the rooms were lovely and big with ample storage for our stay. The bathrooms were modern and clean. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need for your stay, tons of kitchen wear and a fab little coffee machine also! It was a great spot for some lovely days out in Yorkshire and we would all highly recommend the Wheatley!

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. Glad you had a lovely stay and hope to welcome you to Ilkley again. Property Owner

The house has been recently renovated to a very high standard and off road parking, often an issue when renting, is more than plentiful. The interior is spacious, decorated tastefully and comes complete with all the necessary equipment and comforts required for a stay away from home. We had a great week here and look forward to returning in the future.

About the location

ILKLEY

Bolton Abbey 5 miles; Skipton 9 miles.

The old Spa town of Ilkley is the pivotal town of Wharfedale, undoubtedly the most popular of all the Yorkshire Dales. The area offers some of the most spectacular and unspoilt scenery in the land. For the walker it gives unrivalled tramping ground. High up on the moors next to the white-walled cottage of White Wells (where once donkeys carried gout-ridden gentlemen to be doused in the icy-cold moorland spring) visitors will see a carefully landscaped Victorian scene including two semi-artificial lakes and the river Wharfe meandering through the centre of the town. Ilkley still has a Victorian and Edwardian feel to it. Splendid shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés adorn the tree-lined streets. Bettys, without doubt the finest tea shop in Yorkshire, and therefore the world, is situated on The Grove. Lovely parkland, a choice of open air or indoor swimming pools and a family picnic area providing pleasure for all. It is the starting point of the 84 mile-long 'Dales Way' walk, which is breathtakingly beautiful! Nearby Bolton Abbey is one of the region's most scenic areas and the walk along the river to the 'Strid' is a must. Ilkley Moor is the subject of Yorkshire's unofficial anthem “On Ilkla Moor Baht at”.
