"What a beautiful and relaxing holiday cottage, everything you need is right here, lots of things to see and visit, wish we had stayed for two weeks as still so many places and walks to do."
This is probably the best holiday cottage we have stayed with cleanliness, the kitchen being so well stocked with everything you need and lots of space to spread out and enjoy your own peace! By the end of the week we was a dab hand at the table tennis

And views to die for and sheep looking in your window very well positioned in the dales for visiting other places and the owners were kind and helpful I have stayed in many cottages but none could live up to the barn sad to leave and a great big thank you to the owners.

"Very friendly owners with a lovely holiday cottage."
Everything you could wish for provided. Perhaps a sign at the entrance to the gateway to the Barn would be helpful for first timers.

Jo and Nancy are the perfect hosts, showed us round the farm to meet the animals, they took time to chat. The barn is situated just outside Skipton perfect for exploring the area.

The accommodation has everything for a holiday in the Dales. It is extremely well equipped, has stunning views over the surrounding countryside, and a very warm welcome afforded by owners Nancy and Joe, and son George. No surprise that people keep returning.

"The Barn is on a working farm so owners are on site, they were very welcoming and friendly."
The scenery is fabulous and we were there at lambing time so a lot of photos of cute lambs Although unable to walk from the property due to elderly family member, there is so much to do and see in the area which are a short drive away. The Barn was warm, comfortable and a really great base. Enjoyable long weekend and hope to return.

Very friendly and welcoming hosts. Tour around the farm was a bonus
-
"Beautiful barn conversion with stunning views."
Easy access to Skipton and Ilkley. Lovely friendly hosts.
-
"The owners were very friendly and as the barn is on a working farm they went out of their way to let us know if their work could affect us."
They warned us that harvesting could go on late and there may be noise. This in reality added to our enjoyment and holiday.

"FANTASTIC property."
We loved every minute of our holiday there. Views were amazing, property extremely clean, owners friendly and helpful. We loved it there! We loved living on a farm for a week and spent hours watching the baby lambs. Amazing memories made. Thankyou to the owners (we loved the tour of the farm, thankyou)

"Very warm welcome and the cottage was very clean and comfortable."

"The Barn at Skipton was superb in every way; very spacious, clean, warm, extremely comfortable seating and beds, huge amount of crockery and cutlery and of course the views from every window were magnificent."
We were fortunate to visit in May when the lambs provided endless fascination and entertainment. Nancy, the owner, was always available if needed and has many good reasons to be proud of the holiday home she provides and cares for. It's easy to see why so many guests return so often and we look forward to returning to The Barn one day. We enjoyed many of the local attractions, even while everything was still in partial lockdown. Harewood House and Bolton Abbey were our favourites during our first week at The Barn and there are many miles of excellent walks for all levels of interest and fitness. Our return to The Barn will allow us to take full advantage of the many attractions which had not fully opened during our week and of course to enjoy the wonderful property and kindness of the owner. Thank you Nancy.

"The Barn was much bigger than we were expecting."
A beautiful location on a friendly farm. It was so quiet and relaxing and we feel very rested. Watching the lambs from the windows each day was lovely. Weather very changeable but we still managed to get out and about on some lovely walks. We will definitely return in the future.

"Fantastic location with very welcoming owners"
-
"From the warm welcome to the sad goodbye our stay at the barn was all we could have hoped for."
There was so much room to live in that we unwound within minutes. The view of the sheep and cattle on the land was all you could expect from a working farm. The barn had everything you needed to make your stay a joy, well furnished and good WiFi even sky tv and DVD player if that's your thing so give the Barn a try as I know you will be as pleased with it as ourselves.
-
"The Barn provided an excellent base to explore the southern Yorkshire Dales."
It was spotlessly clean, spacious and provided very good facilities for our family of 4 adults, but would easily fit in another 2 children. The Owners were very helpful and friendly. They were always happy to stop and explain the workings of the farm, for which the Barn provides panoramic views.
-
"Had a lovely week at the Barn, couldn't have been more comfortable."
It is clean, warm, and very well equipped. It was like a home from home. Would love to go back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
-
"A wonderful setting and so handy for visiting the many Yorkshire attractions in the area."
-
"Fantastic location within easy reach of tourist attractions."
Scenery breathtakingly with a working farm on the doorstep. Farm animals and additional wildlife provided entertainment daily. Safe play space for children and lovely outdoor sitting area providing peace at the start and end of busy days.
-
"Lovely, friendly owners."
Really enjoyed being on and watching a working farm (farmers are underrated, hard working heroes). Great views and a beautiful part of the country.

"The location was perfect for us, as it was very easy to find on the A65 (the turning is directly off it) and close to Skipton with other areas of beauty and towns of interest such as the Dales and York within easy reach too."
The Barn itself was spotlessly clean and warm and comfortable with fabulous views from every direction, as it was elevated. We chose a week which saw Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis bring torrential wind and gales, but the Barn stayed warm and dry, so it was cosy. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious; the bathrooms were modern and immaculate and there was above average storage space throughout the Barn. There were board games and a table tennis table, which kept the children entertained. In fact, it was the table tennis that 'sold it' for the kids! The immediate surroundings of the farm were also very tidy and safe, so we had no worries about the children wandering off. Most importantly, we had a very warm welcome, with milk in the fridge and tea/coffee. We knew that if there had been any problem at all, then Nancy and Joe would have sorted it straight away. Highly recommended.

The property
Skipton 4 miles.
A tasteful stone barn conversion located on a working farm, The Barn lies just on the southern cusp of Yorkshire Dales National Park.
With sweeping 270 degree views over rolling farmland, almost every view from your windows is a picture postcard to be savoured.
Set over two floors, this property sleeps six comfortably with oodles of living space.
Through the main ground floor entrance, you’re greeted by a large dining/living room with formal dining seating for six, plus a settee for lounging and a table tennis area for kids (and kids at heart).
A handy cloakroom with basin and WC adds convenience.
Off of this large, multi-purpose room is a well-proportioned kitchen with a range of appliances and a separate breakfast table.
Off of the kitchen is a generously sized sitting room with sofas and chairs, TV, DVD players, books and games.
What you’ll first notice though is the breath-taking views outside your windows.
Rolling farmland hills full of sheep and lambs – so close you could almost touch them!
Up a staircase off the sitting room is access to a beamed landing that takes you to three comfortable bedrooms; a master double bedroom with en-suite, two bedrooms with two twin beds apiece, plus a family bathroom with a bath, basin and WC.
Just outside the main entrance is a large courtyard laid to stone, suitable for parking two to three cars.
Two raised stone decks also give options on catching the sun, outside dining or enjoying the countryside and fresh air.
The Barn also overlooks Chelker Reservoir, only 0.3 miles to the east.
Nearby points of interest are the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway and Bolton Abbey, just 3.1 and 4.7 miles away by car respectively.
Skipton and Ilkley are only a short car ride away.
If that wasn’t enough, the area abounds in some of the most challenging and scenic cycle routes in the country - the Tour de Yorkshire is a popular event in every cycling enthusiast’s calendar.
And if cycling doesn’t get your wheels turning, there is plenty of golf courses within 10 miles or less, walking trails, geocaching, fishing and more – an outdoor enthusiast’s dream.
About the location
SKIPTON
Grassington 9 miles; Harrogate 20 miles.
Known as “The Gateway to the Dales”, Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales has to offer, whilst York, the Lake District and the West Coast are also within easy motoring distance. This lovely market town has much to interest the enthusiastic visitor, boasting an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a colourful market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. In 2014, The Sunday Times named Skipton as Britain's "best place to live" and two years later placed it among the nine best towns in Yorkshire and the North-East. Steam railways with regular excursions are available at Embsay and Bolton Abbey, and the Leeds to Liverpool Canal passes through Skipton with the 1 mile long Foulridge Tunnel and the 5-rise locks at Bingley within a short travel. Golf, swimming, squash, tennis and snooker are all available locally and the excellent public transport means the car can be left at home!
