  • "A really lovely property."

Beautifully and tastefully converted barn that had a luxury feel to it but also made us feel right at home. Really well equipped with absolutely loads of information from the owner not only about the property but also about what to do in the local area. Honest about its rural location (ie rough farm track access and nosey neighbours - the cows!) but this added to the charm. Watched the swallows darting in and out of the garage by day and the bats at night. Will hopefully stay again soon and would definitely highly recommend it to others.

We all enjoyed the break & made happy memories. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds were comfortable & the bathrooms nice & clean. Great having a downstairs bedroom for my mom, who struggles with stairs now. Loved the little touches, especially the welcome pack for us & doggie. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a holiday in Yorkshire.

The architecture and interior design are stunning. It is very well equipped and the kitchen is a joy. We enjoyed a lovely family holiday and the cottage was large enough for us all to relax. The owner was responsive to questions and had left an incredibly informative information pack and a generous welcome pack. There are enjoyable walks nearby - we walked from Pateley Bridge and Grassignton. We enjoyed visits to Otley, Harrogate, East Riddlestone Hall, Bingham Rocks, Fountains Abbey / Studley Park and Ripon. Pateley Bridge has two well stocked mini supermarkets, some lovely specialty shops (including two excellent butchers) and has a good selection of pubs, restaurants and take-aways. Super accommodation in a charming location.

  • "We (6 adults and a two year old) have just returned from a lovely few days at Mosscarr barn."

The house is outstanding, we haven’t stayed at a Sykes cottage before which was so well presented and supplied. The kitchen is amazingly well stocked with every tiny thing you might need, which was very helpful, there was a lovely welcome basket and a file full of useful tips and places to visit. The bedrooms and bathrooms are beautiful and the lounge comfortable and cozy with plenty of games provided too, and theres a tv in every room! The farm pathway up to the house does have a lot of potholes unfortunately and due to the rain it did get very muddy and slippy too. I’ve pointed this out to Sykes who will hopefully recommend this gets fixed as soon as possible. Overall we still had a lovely break…I recommend visiting the pancake house in Pateley Bridge, a short walk away.

I'm sorry the state of the farm track affected your stay and that you had such bad weather. We have had some stone delivered now to fill the worst potholes, but really need things to dry up before we can do any lasting repair work. The track is also a bridleway (and only the last half is owned by me) so we are limited on the improvements we are able to make; NYCC insist it should be a gravel track which unfortunately is prone to damage in very bad rainfall. The property is quite remote, which makes it a wonderful rural retreat, but country life can be unpredictable as well as a bit of an adventure. Property Owner

The only drawback is the long drive way up to it , which has several pot holes and quite humpy and bumpy , but we got used to it and slowly and carefully mastered it ! The house makes up for it though and you can totally relax here and enjoy the lovely setting, We would definitely come back again .

  • "The property was absolutely stunning, very clean, and the facilities were amazing."

The owners had literally thought of everything. The property has been done out to such a high spec, there wasn’t anything that hadn’t been thought about in terms of making guests stays really enjoyable. The wine fridge was amazing ;-) The Christmas hamper, and doggy hamper were lovely extra touches too, as were all the decorations. We loved how organised the owner was in terms of the details sent prior to going. We also personally loved how organised it was to recycle and compost rather than just throwing everything in one bin. The only one thing I would change would be to have a better vacuum cleaner than the Dyson for vacuuming. We like to leave a property clean and it was difficult to sweep the dog hair up effectively as the vacuum didn’t suction well. We would like to thank Mary for allowing us to stay at her property and enjoy an amazing Christmas.

We loved it! Having an en suite for each double room was fantastic. We travelled with a young baby and the owner was very accommodating with facilities for her. The Christmassy touches were great; it felt very festive for our annual Christmas getaway! Thank you. The barn is a short distance away from the nearest pub and local shop. There are lots of lovely towns within a short drive.

  • "What a fantastic property!"

It was absolutely immaculate with all the modern features any family could want or need. There is a luxurious feel throughout and an abundance of space to easily accommodate 6-8 people. It is within a 30 minute drive of most of the major tourist areas and the walk into the nearest village Pately Bridge was flat and easy. The owner had left a lovely welcome pack and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree for our early December stay, which was really appreciated. The walks nearby are beautiful and we took some of the more adventurous routes which resulted in some spectacular snowy photograph's. There is one important thing to note, the lane up to the barn is littered with potholes and adds a good 5-10 mins to each journey, so does requires patience. The lane leads to other farms so we assumed it was not just the owners responsibility and with us all being in the festive spirit from the local Christmas markets, it didn't bother us too much. There is a small incline up to the barn which did prove very challenging in the winter weather (it has snowed the night before we arrived), so is another factor to consider if you are traveling to the Barn in poor weather. Overall though a brilliant holiday and we can't recommend Mosscarr Barn enough!

  • "Barn & facilities are fantastic!"

Comfy, high standard, peaceful & plenty of room. One downside was the heating, just could not get bedrooms, bathrooms & kitchen warm enough. Lounge warm if log burner lit. Second concern was the track from road to property. It needs attention & improving. Large potholes, central strip of track a major risk for normal/low cars, bushes at sides need trimming back as scratched the side of car.

The inventory is huge, with every possible item included. The location within the valley is excellent for walkers like ourselves, and there are some good pubs and eating places not too far away, however transport is essential for this property. It should be noted that the access track to the barn is a gravelled farm track, and care needs to be taken whilst driving along it.

  • "A relaxing, rejuvenating, retreat – exactly as described  From the short drive through fields of rabbits, sheep, and cows - you can start to feel how the location reinvigorates your mind and spirit."

Then when you walk through the door and notice that everything has been considered – the welcome pack of goodies, every utensil you could possibly need in the kitchen, mints on the pillows and the little touches in the bathrooms – you just know this is the perfect holiday home. This luxury retreat easily accommodated four adults, two small children and a dog. The shared living space felt roomy and yet everyone could disappear to their own comfortable space when needed. There were wonderful family friendly dog walks – with Pateley Bridge within easy reach (if you can distract yourself away from the stunning views). Ahead of our journey, the inventory and A to Z guide was well timed. Knowing there were games and jigsaws saved us packing some – and to see original monopoly brought back some wonderful childhood memories. The owner has truly considered everything. We are already booking our next summer adventure at Mosscarr Barn.

True 5 star property. Absolutely superb luxurious barn conversion in tranquil rural location, with everything you could wish for. Nicely decorated and well thought out with lots of space for everyone, books, games, dvd’s, jigsaws, netflix and even spare wellies! 15 min walk to closest pub (Bridge Inn) and pleasant 30 min walk into centre of Pateley Bridge for shops, pubs, butcher, baker, ice cream etc.The barn was spotless and well equipped with lots of lovely touches to make you feel welcome. Generous welcome hamper, chocolates on beds, toiletries, guest welcome booklet with maps for local walks and information on shops, food and activities. Recommend the circular walk into Pateley Bridge and back. Good pub food and nice atmosphere at the Crown Inn. Pancake House served up super yummy food and ice cream. If you fancy something a bit more upmarket Olleys Italian Restaurant was fab. The barn is at the end of a long farm track but it is gravel and flat and as long as you drive slowly (10pm) it is absolutely fine. It’s a nice walk along the path to the pub and town.

Immaculate upon arrival! There was room for all of us to sit, eat and be - comfortably. The kitchen is excellent - spacious, bright and very well equipped. Had the weather been more on our side we would have made use of the outdoor seating and bbq too! We were 6 adults plus one dog, so one twin room was not used - however this would have been perfect for 2 children. Everything worked, wifi signal strong, excellent water pressure. Directions and communication with owner excellent. Wonderful attentions to detail - including bags, toy and towels for dog. Loved the "rabbit bank" along the drive plus the grouse, merlins etc.. We stayed with our friends so 3 couples & 2 dogs . We did ask if we could bring 3 dogs which the owner did say yes . One of our friends decided to leave their dog at home . We all had a beautiful bedroom & ensuite bathroom & a window with a view . I always take extra things like salt & pepper , foil, bin liners just little things that over the years hasn’t been in accommodation we’ve stayed in. I didn’t need to do this here if I had known they had everything & I mean everything !!! Just take yourselves , food , drink ect . The only thing I would say is the lane ( farm track ) is like a field so no good for sports cars . We was ok with our apart from one car but we didn’t take that car out again until it was home time but just be aware . Maybe one more thing would be to have some nice outdoor furniture for summer months . Just to make it very luxurious but again we didn’t need it the time of year we stayed . We was also lucky enough to meet the owner Mary & she was so lovely & it was nice to hear her story of the Barn renovation & that she was brought up there
