  • "We were unsure whether bed linen was to be provided."

Information sent by email 13 September confirmed bedlinen was provided. Latest information by Email on 18 October omitted the sentence saying that bed linen was provided. Difficult to check . Amanda eventually confirmed on 23 October that it was provided. Comfort was not high. Though adequate for our needs especially regarding comfortable chairs in the TV lounge. All facilities operated correctly, but some of our party were concerned with the lack of any locks on toilet doors. Poor instruction about local re-cycling rules. Access road is in very poor condition. Ok for SUVs, but my car bottomed twice on the deeply ridged and potholed surface! Batteries had to be replaced in the TV controller before it would work. The building works in the field in view from the conservatory were very close. very visible and noisy at times. Did not affect us much because we were away from the house every day, but if we had needed a relaxing stay..........Hope these comments help.

  • "We had went as a group of 10 friends, to do the Yorkshire dales 3 peak challenge."

Slightly far from the starting point but we had absolutely loved the accommodation and had dearly wished that we taken an extra day to soak in the house. We were slightly apprehensive prior to arriving at the property due to the recent reviews, but the place turned out to be better than expected though I can understand what some people might feel towards the amount of notes placed around the house. It was a warm and very spacious house. However, it should be noted that the toilet downstairs is not easily lockable, and one of the ensuite room's toilet is doorless too. The pots/pans are on the worn out side so might have struggled a little in terms of cooking had we needed to stay in the house for meals frequently. Despite all that, we had absolutely loved the conservatory, felt like a sauna under the gorgeous sun we had over the weekend, and the rooms were spacious. I would go back again to this place if I am ever in the area, especially if more locks and better cookery are added. Thank you very much!

  • "Very comfortable cottage."

The standard of everything is excellent. We had excellent nights sleeps in super comfy beds. Will highly recommend to friends and hope to be back. Very enjoyable holiday. Plenty of room. Great and accessible location. Very friendly and helpful neighbours.

  • "The stay is comfortable and there is a lot of space on this cottage to make it enjoyable."

Couple of points which need improvement are on the water pressure in shower was very low and hot water ran out after a few of us had showers. Last few only got cold water at low pressure. The number of messages in the cottage for keeping things in order and cleanliness makes you feel uncomfortable.

  • "The approach road to the property was awful and potentially dangerous."

There was a building site adjacent to the property with heavy diggers and unsightly rubbish which spoilt the main views from the house and outside seating area. On entering the property we were met with between 30 and 40 stark messages cellotaped to the walls telling us what we were and we’re not allowed to do. Unfortunately this set the tone for our stay making everyone uncomfortable

We did have to buy a washing line and pegs as this wasn't available but the house was lovely and we had a great time.

  • "This lovely home provided the perfect base for our families’ get-together."

Whilst the decor is quite dated, it has been well maintained and was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The welcome pack left for us was appreciated. Plenty of space with generously proportioned rooms and toasty warm. The location was great for access to country walks and local amenities and the adequate parking/outdoor space was a bonus. Plenty of seating for a big group to eat together, however the lack of cutlery meant we had to share table knives. Be sure to visit the Dog and Gun and Glusburn park during your stay. Both within walking distance.

  • "On the Whole a lovely house ,however there were some things that are expected when paying that amount of money ,things that wouldn't cost a lot of money but will make a world of difference to guests ."

Upstairs (and nowhere in the house ) a full length mirror was nowhere to be found surely this is basic ,also a lock on the family bathroom is really a basic . The kitchen..well a really lovely kitchen just let down by things people expect these days ,,the cutlery looks like it was bought it Poundland shop very poor quality ,that goes for all the other utensils ,also a coffee machine would be a lovely addition (none of us drink instant coffee ,but luckily I took my Nespresso ) A high chair as well, in a house of that size please, when you know a baby is coming . The other thing that would be helpful is some information or leaflets on where to go in the local area ,and the walks ,there is a lovely park just a couple of minutes away but we only found it by chance ! There is usually a book around with all this info in. I don't want to sound as if we are complainers because we all had a really lovely time it is just little touches ,the house itself was perfect for us all to spread out if we wanted to ,and easy to get to many interesting places ,we would return ..

  • "Overall we enjoyed our stay at Ryecroft Barn."

We made good use of the Conservatory which was bathed in light and although the American style fridge freezer was not working, the replacement fridge freezer in the utility room was adequate for our use. All the bedrooms were clean and comfortable, and the 2 family rooms were very spacious. The airing cupboard was an added bonus for drying towels. There were some areas which I feel could be improved. There are 3 steep steps outside leading to the main door, and 2 steps to the conservatory door. I feel a handrail would be useful for less able guests. My arthritic father really struggled with these and felt that a handrail would have helped him immensely. In the kitchen the only kitchen knives provided were the size of pen knives. Very small, perhaps camping knives? Almost impossible to cut bread with. A decent set of knives would have been appreciated. The shower door in the main bathroom opens inwards which makes it awkward to get in and out. Only by pressing yourself up against the back wall can you edge yourself in. Perhaps the door could be rehung so it opens outwards? And finally the sofa in the conservatory, whilst comfortable, is flaking quite badly. I noticed brown specks around the base and when I lifted the throw I saw that the seat area was flaking badly. I feel that this is a lovely property but with a few adjustments it could be so much more.

  • "The cottage in general was quite good."

The bedrooms were clean and comfortable, the beds very comfortable. However, downstairs was less than expected. The kitchen although quite large, with dishwasher, and plenty of cupboard space, the Fridge/freezer had a fault which should have been put right before we arrived at the property. Although there was a smaller fridge/freezer in the utility room. The cooker was less than adequate for a family of eight, with just two induction hobs, and a grill plate. There was a gas hob as well, but this was not working. The conservatory was very hot, although there was air conditioning, this also did not work. The furniture looked like it had been bought in a second hand furniture shop, or charity shop. the carpets in the conservatory were curled up at the edges, and some if not all of us often tripped over these. The windows in the conservatory had not been cleaned in a long while with moss growing on the roof windows. Cobwebs covered most of the outside of the conservatory, I understand being in the country this could be a problem, but they hadn't been cleaned for a while. The lounge/ TV room was quite comfortable although it had a dank damp smell. Sweets broken biscuits and other unknown objects were found down the sides and underneath the cushions. On the whole it is a lovely cottage, and very well situated. With a little TLC it could be so much better.
