  • "A very comfortable and warm cottage in an ideal location for walking and exploring the Dales."

Despite the less than clement weather (Storm Henk) over the New Year we still got out everyday, with fabulous walking from the door, and the layout of the cottage was perfect for getting off soaking kit and drying Riley the dog in the large utility room before entering the main house; the excellent heating system being perfect for drying everything out ready for the next days adventures. Despite of, or perhaps because of, the very wet weather, it was always a pleasure to return to the cottage in the evening, cook dinner, settle in front of the log burner, and then retire to the very comfortable beds. It would have been lovely to sit outside and enjoy the garden and views, Perfect for a Summers day!

Thank you for this lovely review. Property Owner

The property

A traditional detached cottage in an idyllic hillside position on the outskirts of the delightful village of Burnsall, with uninterrupted views of Burnsall Fell.

Originally a farm worker's cottage, the property has been fully renovated to provide warm, cosy accommodation with immense character and charm, retaining many original features such as the stone fireplace, oak beams and mullion windows.

The lovely enclosed garden provides an excellent spot for alfresco dining, whilst just a short walk away is an award-winning pub, serving real ales and fabulous food.

Enjoy good walking and cycling from the doorstep, or explore Bolton Abbey and the infamous Strid, a notorious stretch of deep water where the River Wharfe is forced into a deep, thundering channel.

The elegant market town of Grassington, with its cobbled square littered with local shops, pubs and cafes is just 5 miles away, making this an ideal location, to be enjoyed whatever the time of year.

Where you’ll be staying

BURNSALL

Grassington 4 miles; Skipton 12 miles.

A delightful village in beautiful Wharfedale, Burnsall is situated on a bend in the River Wharfe and is framed by the dramatic backdrop of Burnsall Fell. The oldest building in the village is thought to be the 12th century church and the lovely village school is one of the oldest in Britain. Perhaps the most famous feature in the village is the bridge - a traditional Dales bridge with five stone arches. The river meanders through the village and with an extensive village green and magnificent walks in the area, this delightful area makes a superb base for exploring the Dales and all it has to offer. The village itself has a pub/hotel, and a tea room, whilst nearby Grassington and Skipton offer a fuller range of amenities. Children shouldn’t miss Burnsall’s river 'beach' - just a few minutes' walk away and a 'must' on a sunny day!
