"Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed with Kings Cottage."
Upon our arrival, my husband and I came to set up the travel cot for our 7 month old and noticed there was no mattress. The booking form requests you bring cot linen which is absolutely no problem, but no mention of a mattress. I rang to ask and was informed that they don’t have one for the cot and it can be used without. Needless to say we had to rush to Northallerton before Argos closed (it was a Sunday) to purchase one which obviously came at a cost to us. A baby needs a mattress just as much as an adult does in their bed! Furthermore, the high chair was filthy and had clearly not been cleaned properly for a long time as had mouldy pieces of food in it and over the back. Cleanliness wise almost all corners of the rooms/beams across ceiling/back of sofa had large cobwebs on. One of the sofas I think must be broken too as is sunken and very uncomfortable to sit on. However, the bed was lovely and comfortable providing us with a great sleep, and the hot tub/garden area is really lovely too. We never leave reviews but I felt for the money, the cottage sadly wasn’t up to scratch in some aspects. But most importantly, when travelling with a baby, you hope that the place you’re staying will be right for them and it certainly wasn’t in this case.

"Lovely 3 night stay, especially with the hot tub."
Thankful for the bread, milk, butter and bacon. Cottage is a little run down and missing little essentials, like wine glasses, and also the kindsize bed needs a make over, the mattress is very dipped!

"The cottage is a wonderful home from home."
We really enjoyed our break and appreciated the welcome goodies and the fact that the hot tub was so clean and welcoming. It's worth noting that the dining table is raised with bar stools as the only dining seating option, so this might not be suitable for everyone.

"Lovely cottage really enjoyed our stay like home from home everything you need ..."
Lovely cottage really enjoyed our stay like home from home everything you need in the kitchen an through out the rest of the cottage ,hot tub definitely got some use in the nice kept garden ,think the property could do with a new back door its rotten at the bottom with a wobbly outside door handle also there was a few cobwebs through out the place but this didn't spoil our stay ,will definitely use this place again

"We had a lovely stay and the hot tub was a god send!"
It is set in a lovely little garden. The hot tub was very clean and private. The cottage was comfortable and quite clean. Just a few fresh cobwebs missed, but nothing upsetting. It would have been nice to have been left one toilet roll. I would trade the onion rings for 1 next time. There was a little hamper left which was appreciated. We would return.

St Edmunds Cottages
Nestled in the peaceful village of Crakehall in the lower Yorkshire Dales, these cottages offer a serene destination for a relaxing break. From the outside, these pretty properties are aesthetically pleasing with stone frontages, window frames painted a tasteful mint green, and well-kept gardens with views over Bedale Beck. Inside, the cottages are a well-balanced mix of contemporary design and period features, with modern kitchens and bathrooms intermingling with exposed beams and original windows. The décor is neutral throughout with elegant splashes of colour complementing certain rooms. Despite the rural location, the properties are well connected with each offering WiFi and top-of-the-range Smart TVs. The village of Crakehall is regarded by many as one of the prettiest in the Yorkshire Dales, featuring a 5-acre green surrounded by Sycamore and lime trees, populated by stone-built cottages, some of which dating back as far as the 1600’s. It is split into two by a tributary of the River Swale, Bedale Beck, forming Little Crakehall and Great Crakehall. The complex of holiday cottages and their gardens overlook both the bridge and the beck, as well as the A684 road, which provides part of the Tour de Yorkshire route. The village is close to the market town of Bedale with its selection of shops and pubs, as well as museum and weekly market. If walking is more your thing there are plenty of picturesque walking routes in the vicinity, especially in the beautiful valleys of the Yorkshire Dales.
