"The house is spacious, the kitchen well stocked with all that is needed for making meals, the white goods work well."
It is comfortable, and the heating is efficient. It is ideally placed for local attractions, and countryside walks.
Our only worry was the fact that three things should be stressed by Sykes Cottages re the property. Firstly, one car needs to be parked on the road. Only one car can be parked in front of the left hand garage. Secondly, there are a number of steep steps down to the cottage, plus a wooden bridge over a stream. The steps and bridge become very slippery when wet. Lastly, there are a number of steep steps up to the first and second floors. We found the cottage perfect for our stay, but would not recommend it for people with mobility problems, or people with young children.
Hi Susan
Thank you for your feedback which is very helpful. Apart from the designated parking space there is usually plenty of parking on the side of the road close to the cottage and it is also usually possible to arrange an additional off-street parking space on request. The cottage can be accessed via fairly steep steps and across the wooden bridge over the beck or via a more level route (but still with a few steps) from the main road via the neighbouring property. Since your stay the flooring on the bridge has been upgraded to incorporate non-slip surfacing. Bridgend Cottage was built in the late 17th century and the two staircases are steep and narrow. I have asked Sykes to clarify information about the cottage so that guests know what to expect and can choose whether Bridgend Cottage will suit their needs. With kind regards, Simon

It was comfy and homely, a lot of stairs though. The cottage is set in lovely countryside but close to Skipton shops.

"The property was in excellent condition, and the owner came to introduce himself and bring us wood for the fireplace."
We must go back in warmer weather to enjoy the beck that runs from a small waterfall across the street! We have stayed at many rentals, and this one ranks among the best!
Hi Deborah. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Bridgend Cottage. Your party endured some atrocious weather and I hope you'll be able to return to enjoy Bridgend Cottage when the sun is shining!

"A great location with easy access to Skipton and the Dales."
Attention to several issues would greatly improve this cottage. Car parking for only one vehicle was a problem. Neighbours expressed unhappiness with on-road parking in front of their property. The log burning stove emits smoke from the joint with the flue. The dining table is too small. Television pixilated Top floor bathroom and bedroom has problem with ceiling lights flashing. Hopefully these concerns can be easily attended to and bring the cottage up to a perfect standard.
Hi Richard. Thanks for the feedback. It's always useful to know about the little things that are tricky to spot at turnaround - all now fixed by the way - apart from the larger dining table which will be changed at the end of the the season. I'm sorry you experienced parking problems. There are no restrictions on the road and usually loads of space, even if some neighbours get a bit possessive about the space in front of their house! If this is an issue for future visits please let us know and I'll see if I can free up an additional off-street parking space for you. Thanks. Simon

"A beautiful quirky cottage with everything that you would need."
Loved the big bath. The dog loved investigating the garden with its little stream, although she did try to say hello to the cows a few times in the neighbouring field!
Had a lovely time walking in the beautiful dales.

"Part of the oldest house in the village, dating from 1653, the cottage has character, is comfortable and well-equipped."
The downsides are the access via about 16 stone steps, which are slippery in wet weather, the lack of off-road parking for a second car and the tight squeeze when seating six people at the dining table. Apart from those ponts, we enjoyed our stay!

"Beautiful cottage with a lovely garden."
Stayed cool during the heatwave. We enjoyed the summerhouse and watching the stream. Walking distance to the Moors and the steam railway.
Our favourite place to visit was Grassington, where we were able to swim in the River Wharfe and the fish nibbled our toes. Skipton was pretty and good for amenities.

"This is a character property."
It had everything in it that you could ask for and was a very friendly environment. The garden and little reading room outside are lovely and very peaceful. Just what we needed. And there is so much to do in the area that it warrants another trip back. I wouldn't recommend the property to anyone with mobility issues but we are all over 70 years old and managed it okay - just! Another parking place would also be useful. We had three cars. Wouldn't recommend any more than two cars. However, the local people were very tolerant of us parking on the road. Lovely area and nice people.

"Lovely, quiet little cottage- right in the heart of the countryside- in minutes you were up on the moors listening to the curlews."
Wine, a pint of milk and a tea/coffee and biscuit selection greeted us. The milk was especially welcome as I'd forgotten to stop, on route, to buy some! Plug in nightlight/ torches were a brilliant addition to the rooms. Beds were incredibly comfy. My daughters found the piano in the sunroom so unpacking our car was accompanied by familiar tunes! The evening we returned home my daughter realised she'd left her ring- I managed to contact the owner- who was just so lovely, assured us it had been found and would be returned to us asap. Seemed like a genuinely, nice guy.

"We spent Christmas at Bridgend Cottage and had a lovely time."
The house is great - well equipped and has a wonderful homely feel about it. The bedrooms are a good size and the beds extremely comfortable. The owner had made sure we had plenty of logs for the wood burner in the lounge. We were looked after extremely well by the owner - they made the cottage a home from home.
The cottage is in a beautiful location - just a stone's throw away from some good days out and fantastic countryside.
We will certainly be back. Thank you.
