"We were very pleased we found this lovely little cottage, it was in a very peaceful area with a lovely view over fields."
The cottage was well equiped with all we needed and was very cosy and homely. We found we slept really well in the very comfortable bed. The shower room was very good and easy to get the right temprature. The weather was quite chilly but we found we did not need to use the log burner as night storage was very good. Sure that in the winter when really cold this would be very welcome though. Our first day was VERY wet and due to a running race the village was cut off. We had been warned when we arrived by the very nice ladies at village hall coffee shop. So due to not having any food in, as had planned to go out we visited the coffee shop for a very good jacket potatoe and coffee. It is an ideal location to visit many lovely places. Evening meals out in Ripon Kirkgate street that has many good resturants, and Masham which is 10mins drive away which again has many nice resturants. We can certainly recomend Ivy Cottage.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are very happy you had a nice stay and welcome you back anytime

"We book holiday cottages 2 or 3 times a year, however this was the first time with Sykes."
We have always enjoyed and welcomed some contact with the owners, whether it be via e mail, phone or face to face. It is reassuring to be able to ask a few questions, ie towels, dishwasher or a recommendation for Sunday lunch.
There was also a shortage of clear information within the cottage, for example when the refuse is collected. The bins already had stuff in them, we would have been happy to put the bins out had we known when.
The whole process seemed a bit sterile and impersonal.
We really enjoyed the area and the cottage was nicely furnished and in a nice location. The weather was very unseasonal for June and we did find the cottage cold. There were no clear instructions as to whether there was any heating apart from the log burner, fortunately we were able to buy some additional logs in Masham.
Thank you for your feedback. Clients can contact us any time, Sykes would give you our number.
There is information in the folder on the coffee table on refuse collect ect and plenty of leaflets on the local area. Ie where to go, where to eat ect. I’m sorry if this wasn’t there for you, I will check. The heater in the bedroom switches on, on the wall, same for the bathroom, the underfloor heating is not suitable for the summer months and client have no control of it. The log burner is more suitable. Sorry things were not perfect but we do try to make our guest as comfortable as possible for the star rating we offer. I hope you enjoy the wonderful views from the cottage and fantastic walking in the area. Kind Regards Lesley

The description regarding bedding and towels included were not clear enough and like previous guest we had to go out over a bank holiday to buy towels. The property was beautifully decorated and lots of nice wall art. The chicken came every morning to the garden and sometimes a visit from the cows. I would recommend this cottage ,but please Sykes make it clearer about the towels.

All the appliances are of good quality and everything was clean and well maintained.
One very small thing. It would be good if there was a book or sheet of do's and don'ts instead of notes on the back of doors. It wasn't until Thursday that we saw the notice about the drive in and out. We just followed what the neighbours did and no one said we were going in and out the wrong way. Not sure why the straight drive is a walkway only seeing as the neighbours drive up and down all the time. Other than that, we are looking forward to booking the cottage again as soon as we have time.
Thank you for the lovely feedback
Sorry about the drive, it’s a long story about rights of way, too long to tell. Will consider do’s and don’ts book thanks again

"We had the same problem as the previous two clients in that the underfloor heating was not working for the first night and the following morning."
After some argument the owners eventually visited and changed the temperature settings on the control system which got it working - although the timings were awry.
Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay in a pleasant location.
We would be reluctant to return or recommend as we understand the heating has been removed from the property description and is to be turned off. Anyone coming will need to bring a week's supply of logs!
As owners we struggle with guests like this. thank goodness they are few and far between and thank you to all our wonderful guests that really enjoy the cottage and all the lovely features it holds.
