  • "The Cottage was lovely and Horsforth is great, handy for Leeds and the Dales."

However, our stay was marred by a broken TV (the screen was cracked from top to bottom) and this had previously been reported but NOT replaced. Very poor . To add to this, the cottage was grubby. There were crumbs in the toaster, a coffee pod in the Nespresso machine, smeared mirrors throughout, stained pillows and a sheet also and the floors had not been washed. I cleaned the lounge floor myself due to the horrible odour. I strongly feel that the owner or cleaner had changed the sheets and dashed round the bathroom. Sadly, a very disappointing level of cleanliness which is a shame as the cottage is great, well equipped and well placed.

So sorry you found the level of cleanliness below standard. Very disappointing indeed. We have closed the cottage for bookings for a while to redecorate/refurbish/deep clean as well as buying new mattresses and bedding. We will also be changing our cleaning team going forward. It needs to be presented to a standard that does such a beautiful place justice. Property Owner

  • "Unfortunately we didn’t enjoy our stay as the beds were very uncomfortable and need changing."

My wife ended up sleeping in the lounge due to our bed and the kids also struggled to sleep well too. The TV is broken so we could not use and the drainage in the bathroom sink is painfully slow and we found lots of hairs in the shower on first use. It was a shame as it is a nice cottage in a very good location but needs a bit of TLC.

Thanks for feedback. A nice cottage in a very good location which is now planned for refurbishment and new beds in September. Property Owner

Beautiful surroundings and a lovely High Street. Railway Station was also very useful for easy access to visit York and Knaresborough.

  • "What a cosy and comfortable place to stay!"

It was easy to find (because directions given were helpful!) and convenient for sightseeing in the area or for taking day trips into Leeds and to Harrogate and York. There was a little kerfuffle with the gas meter situation, but Gordon was on top of it and kept me informed until it was resolved. I’d definitely stay here again!

Thank you Holly. So glad you found it a cosy and comfortable stay and made the most of the convenient location. We were very happy to have you. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is listed as dog friendly but any cottage with no garden is not dog friendly."

\\ The cottage was not clean - toilet had not been flushed and the floors were dirty. No space in cupboards to put any if our food, because they were packed with the owners items. Had to leave our food on worktops in the kitchen which, again, was not good with dogs. Wardrobe was not empty and had wire hangars which I would definitely not use. Very disappointing, having said this it is a lovely cottage and if you have no animals and do not want to use the kitchen at all, and live out if your suitcase its great.

Thank you for you review. I was sorry to read that you found the property had some cleanliness issues, if you had called us immediately we could have sent round our cleaners to rectify this for you. It is usually spotless and we can only apologise it did not meet expected standards on this occasion. The property does accept pets, but we do not advertise that there is a garden at the property. There are several open green spaces within walking distance, including Horsforth Hall park at the bottom of Town St and we have always found it a convenient and comfortable place to visit with our dog. Perhaps it would be helpful for us to point these out for guests and we will add this to our welcome pack information. We will be visiting the property shortly and I will check the both cupboards and wardrobes. We do leave some basic supplies for guests’ use including tea, coffee, sugar and condiments etc in one of the kitchen cupboards but perhaps there ought to be clearer indication to help yourselves to this. Thank you for pointing that out. We do store extra linen in one of the wardrobes but there is still space to hang your clothes. We will remove any wire hangers. We had not been aware they would be a problem. Kind regards, the owners Property Owner
