  • "The cottage was just perfect."

Immaculately presented and an amazing position right in the centre of Hebden Bridge but out of the way of all the visitors. The heating worked really well with a really cosy stove in the lounge. Comfortable beds and an outside area out the back which will be great in warmer weathers. The owners communicated really well. We managed some really top class walks in the area especially this time of year with all the trees turning into a colourful autumnal landscape. And some great pubs! Five stars!

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay Simon. Thank you for leaving such positive feedback & what a bonus to have such a nice spell of weather during your stay. We hope you will return to Hebden Bridge in the future & would love to host you again. Mark & Jan. Property Owner

  • "Very cosy terraced house just across bridge from centre of town."

10 minutes walk from railway station via canal-side and park. Good range of walks direct from house including Hardcastle Crags, Lumb Falls, Hebden Circular via Heptonstall, along canal to Todmorden, so car not required. Good bus service to Howarth for Bronte museum. Very nice cinema with good varied programme. Well-stocked Co-op supermarket and local independent shops (Julie's vegetable one). Comfort reduced only by limited headroom upper bedroom..Attractive well-preserved town..

Megs Den was a perfect location & convenient for all we needed The owner communicated directly to provide some great tips on the local area & a nice that we had milk, and some drinks ready for our arrival, also tea, coffee & sugar along with washing up items The beds were very comfortable & bathroom was also great My only comments would be that some more comfortable furniture would be good in the living room & the carpets need a good clean, I know it’s suitable for dogs, but we thought a new more forgiving colour or a deep clean would improve the property as we paid premium price due to the time of year, but think a spruce up is needed Really enjoyed our stay though so thank you

Hi Deanna, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. The property was fully renovated in 2022 with new carpets other than the stairs, a little more than a ‘spruce up’. We endeavour to help our guests with all their requirements as you well know by the many answers & recommendations we sent in reply to your enquiries. The vast majority of our guests find the cottage to be very comfortable as can be seen in our numerous reviews, but it is impossible to suit all of the people all of the time. I’m really glad you enjoyed your stay & always welcome ‘constructive’ comments. Mark & Jan. Property Owner

Nice little touches left in the fridge so you don’t need to rush to a shop as soon as you land. We had a fab short break with 2 pooches (who were also catered for!) - lots of dog friendly places to visit, close to a big park and lots of walking options. Will definitely return.

In fact I parked my car (in a rare free spot!) after unloading it and didn’t touch it again until it was time to load up to leave! I used a bus once but otherwise walked daily. The cottage is very homely and a tad quirky and I hope to return. Love the fireplaces and the 1st floor bed was very comfortable (2nd floor bed not used so can’t comment on that one). The owner was great with communication too which is always comforting. A great experience overall

Quiet location, interesting, good for independent shops … excellent Market Sun & Thurs Lots of options for socialising - pubs, cafes etc - seek out the slightly wacky - can be fun! Very friendly natives, which we expected as one of us is ‘from’ near HB!

The location is perfect for a quiet stay but with easy walking access to the vibrant centre with all the cafes and shops, and a fabulous market. We managed several walks in the stunning surroundings, the Hebden Bridge circular we particularly recommend, with a lovely roast dinner at the end.. Easy access into Manchester and Liverpool.. and so much more that we didn’t get to do, but would love to return for another visit. High recommend..

Good communications from owner. Cottage was squeaky clean. Compact but adequate kitchen. Welcome pack goodies appreciated. Thank you The only minor issue was lack of ventilation in the bathroom which is responsible for some mould marks on the bathroom walls. We would happily return again.

Thank you for your positive feedback Phillip we are pleased you enjoyed your stay. We know the bathroom would benefit from an extraction fan & fully intend to fit one in the near future, we are waiting until we have a gap in bookings to allow us to get this done. Nice bedrooms with very comfortable beds. Small kitchen but adequate for our 3 night stay and had everything we needed. Just a couple of niggles, the stair carpet has seen better days, could at least be cleaned if not replaced. The main bedroom had a beautiful large mirror but was sadly not near a power socket so I had to buy an extension lead so I could see to dry my hair. Either provide an extension lead or a vanity mirror. Other than that I would definitely recommend staying at this cottage.

Just a couple of things that would make a stay just a tiny bit better: a toaster so that you don’t have to use the grill to make a piece of toast! Not a big deal but would make life easier and a couple of oven trays for cooking as there was nothing other than the grill pan. Other than that, the cottage was as listed. Warm, comfortable, central location. Ideal for a short break.

If we’d been aware that there was only 2 rings and the grill and oven were combined we could have planned accordingly. It proved a bit difficult cooking a full English!!!!! Best thing to do is keep it simple.

Plenty of choice when looking for places to eat but cottage also has everything you need to cater for yourself. Owners had thoughtfully put some supplies in the kitchen but there are a couple of supermarkets nearby to get anything you need. Seats in the lounge very comfortable as were the beds. Upper bedroom has a low ceiling so our son, at 6 foot 4 found it difficult but not a major problem. Parking locally is chargeable but we managed to get a free space most of the time. We would definitely use this cottage again if we return to the area.

  • "Parking and access to the cottage was very difficult."

This was not the fault of the owner as major gas works were being carried out. However parking on street near the cottage added £9.60 per day and it would appear this is the norm for the cottage. It was very handy for shops, bars and restaurants.

Thank you for your feedback. As you say parking was an issue at the time of your stay due to the on going pipe laying works which I can only apologise for, however under normal circumstances there is free parking to the rear of the property on a first come first served basis or there is also a privately run car park two minutes from the property at a cost of £5 for 24 hours, so the cost you quoted is not 'the norm'. Really glad you enjoyed your stay in wonderful Hebden Bridge & hope you return soon. Jan & Mark. Property Owner

One of the main selling points is the location. You are very short stroll from all the pubs, cafes and restaurants in Hebden Bridge and it really is a great base to explore the local countryside (just remember that most walks will begin with a climb!) The only slight pain is parking, but we were able to park in a pay and display car park near the train station for £6 per day and this is only around 10 mins walk from the property.

Thank you Sam for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. I appreciate parking can be an issue, its the same for locals & guests alike. Usually there is free parking on the cobbled lane to the rear of the property but at the time of your stay they were carrying out pipe laying work so this was not possible.
