"Dales Cottage is a very comfortable cottage with quality fixtures and fittings."
Very good quality bedding and towels, beautiful kitchen with aga and equipped with everything you need. Delightful welcome pack on arrival. Comprehensive local guides and literature. Lots of games and reading matter. The area is outstanding with fabulous walks and scenery. Park your car outside the door so no need to worry looking for a parking spot! All in all one of the best places we've stayed and we hope return.
-
"Excellent cottage in a superb location for walking."
The information on local walks/ cycle rides was the best ever provided in any of our previous cottages. Beautifully furnished with quality bedding, towels and curtains. We would have struggled with enough cups and glasses (several chipped items) if we had been 6 (only 2 of us) . It would be sensible to mention that the road is busy and a bit of a race track

"Very comfortable and a great location"
-

"Wonderful accommodation in a lovely village"
-
"This is one of the two best cottages that we have stayed in all over the UK."
Sophie's attention to detail is exemplary and the cottage is extremely well equipped. The Aga was a bonus as we had a very wet week but were out walking every day and we were always able to dry our kit on the airer. The supply of logs was another bonus and again much appreciated given the poor weather. The beds were very comfortable as were the eating and living areas. Another example of attention to detail was the range of goodies that Sophie had left for us - Prosecco, mince pies, chocolates etc. This was very kind and thoughtful.

"What a beautiful homely and cosy cottage which was very comfortable and clean."
The cottage is very spacious easily accommodating up to 6 people. Loved the Aga. It had everything you could need, very well equipped indeed. It is perfectly situated for Grassington, being a 10 minute walk away. There is an excellent pub in Linton, The Fountaine Inn, a traditional country pub serving good food and ale. Plenty of walks from the cottage, particularly along the River Wharfe, taking you to places such as Hebdon where The Old School cafe is, an excellent stop off for coffee and wonderful cake. On the whole this was a great week in the Dales, just love it. Highly recommend it, in fact we have booked again, can’t wait.
-
"A beautiful, cosy cottage in the Dales."
Excellent communication from the owner. Loved the prosecco and chocolate cake as welcome gifts, really got our break off to a lovely start! Cooking breakfast on the Aga was a real treat and settling in front of the log burner after a days walking was the perfect way to end our evenings. The location is perfect, a short walk on a footpath into Grassington and plenty of lovely walks right on the doorstep. Would definitely recommend Dales Cottage to anyone!

It was plenty big enough for our family of 5 adults. Very comfortable and homely. It is in the most stunning area, just so beautiful with fabulous walks from the cottage. You can walk into Grassington too. Great pub about 10 min walk away. Would recommend the cottage and the area.
-

"A group of us stayed here when we attended a wedding and it was perfect!"
Plenty space, lovely rooms and lovely extras such as a bottle of Prosecco, milk, a yummy cake and even a Christmas tree! We were sad we didn’t spend more time in it as we were out all day/night for the wedding so would love to go back one day soon!!
-
"The cottage was warm, cosy and beautifully decorated- it felt like home!"
Loved the aga and the wood burning stove. All the beds were really comfy with crisp white bed linen. Plenty of storage. Complementary cake and fizz so welcome after our long journey. The location is perfect. We’d definitely come here again.

The kitchen was well equipped with plenty crockery etc. The place is very comfortable and relaxing. Perfect holiday.
-
"Very warm comfortable cottage in lovely location."
We were four adults would not recommend it for six adults as bed in top room looked very small, ok for a child.

The cottage was delightful. The owner was very accommodating to a couple of requests. I highly recommend this cottage. The best cottage we have stayed in. We would love to return.
-
"Excellent location; close enough to Grassington and immediate access to some great walks."
The cottage is clean and comfortable and was lovely and warm, especially considering ours was a winter stay with snow and ice. The owner was also very helpful and hospitable.
-
"Lovely cottage - the pictures don't do it justice."
This place is in a perfect location for walking and we hardly got in the car. There were loads of lovely pubs within walking distance which was a real bonus. Sophie the owner was lovely - we had a small issue with the boiler and she came out very early on a Saturday morning to sort it which we really appreciated. Will definitely be coming back. Would highly recommend this cottage.
-
"This was our second time at Dales Cottage, it is a lovely cosy cottage with everything you might need and the cake and fizz were very much appreciated, we met Sophie the lovely owner who was showing a workman how she wanted the kitchen area updating."
The bedrooms are clean and comfortable and my favourite one is the one right at the top house and being able to see the stars. There is a handy downstairs toilet and wash basin. The kitchen and living room are lovely and cozy especially the kitchen with the aga. The cottage is in a fantastic position just minutes from the beautiful Linton falls and it is lovely to stand on the bridge over the falls and watch the sun go down. Gutted that we won’t be back this September due to other commitments but I’m sure we will be back soon.
-
"The cottage was like home from home."
The only thing we would have liked was to be able to open a window in the bedroom.
-
"Highly recommend this cottage with good facilities and helpful host"
-
"Cottage was exactly as described."
We had a really nice gesture of cake and prosecco when we arrived. Really comfortable, well-fitted out cottage. Maps, books were great for local area, and games etc for kids. The parking situation was exactly as described with a free place in the public car park on the opposite side of the road, we never parked more than 20-40 yards away, and we could park one car directly outside the house. A bit of to-ing and fro-ing with visitors on the road outside with those coming to the Falls, but actually really quiet inside. Really easy footpath access up into Grassington itself over the footbridge, or onto river footpaths both up and down, which also made it a really great location. Great area.
-
"The second time we have stayed at Dales Cottage and it was even better than the first!"
A fantastic property with everything you need and more and in a wonderful location for walking and exploring the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
-
"Perfect location, short walk to Grassington."
Beautiful cottage with everything you would want. Very comfortable beds.
-
"We had a wonderful week in the cottage in Aug 20."
Everything we needed was provided and the cottage was very clean and well presented. There was a lovely cake and a bottle of Prosecco on the table which was very much appreciated! The week we had was rather wet but this didn’t stop us enjoying some walks in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. There was lots of useful information provided on local walks. There was a good selection of walks from the cottage which was nice to avoid driving. It is an easy walk into Grassington and the cottage is situated very close to Linton Falls. The pub in Linton was also a popular spot to walk to! The aga kept us very toastie warm and dried out wet things quickly. I would highly recommend the cottage and the area for a visit.
-
"Excellent base for the Dales , the falls are spectacular just at the back of the cottage and Grassington in easy walking distance up the hill ."
Comfortable cosy cottage well stocked , would be lovely in winter with the gas Aga and log burner
-
"Dales Cottage is a delightful place to stay and is surrounded by an amazing range of facilities."
10 out of 10 for location then. The place itself is very clean and tidy and has a vast range of facilities to make any type of stay possible. The kitchen and utility room are particularly well equipped. There are also plenty of books and guides available. The owners make you very welcome with some considerate gifts. I would definitely stay again. Thank you for making it so pleasant.
-
"Absolutely lovely!"
Great cottage, very comfortable. Super location with a 10 minute walk to Grassington. Everything was excellent.
-
"We enjoyed a most relaxing week at Dales Cottage, the cottage is ideal for those wishing to take advantage of the great walks in the surrounding area and take time to chill and leave the humdrum behind."
From the cottage, Grassington is just a short walk away where you can browse the shops and enjoy the laid back appeal of the village, it is also ideally placed for eating out and we recommend the Fountaine Inn a 10 minute walk away. From the Fountaine Inn you can jump the bus in to Skipton to explore Skipton Castle and the castle woods, a good day out. All in all Dales cottage offers a comfortable ,relaxing break and the welcome cake, wine and milk were most appreciated.
-
"Would highly recommend this house."
Lovely location and a very homely place to spend time away from the hussle and bussle of life
-
"Lovely well equipped cottage set in a beautiful location"
-
"Perfect location for walking the Wharfe and surrounding Dales"
-
"The cottage is in an idyllic location, just two minutes walk away from beautiful, quiet, unspoilt countryside."
Don't be put off by the lack of garden, because the surroundings more than compensate. We spent hours walking and exploring in the great outdoors. The house itself is cosy and welcoming with wonderfully comfy beds, plenty of space for relaxing, lovely bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen. Cooking with the Aga was a real novelty that we really enjoyed. The village of Grassington is a short walk away, where you'll find an assortment of shops and eateries. The Retreat Tearoom did an amazing vegan menu and the Indian Restaurant Rozi's was friendly and accommodating. We loved our week away and would highly recommend Dales Cottage.
-
"The beds in the loft room are children's beds which meant my grown up son did not sleep well."
This needs to be made clear in the description of the facilities. Most of the windows in the cottage could not be opened which bad as we were in a heat wave. these need to be fixed
-
"Great location for walking."
Quiet, free parking outside. Extremely well equipped house with 3 good sized bedrooms, one on suite. Choice of aga or gas cooker for cooking with good range of kitchen equipment. There is no garden but a bench at the side of the house which catches the afternoon sun.
-
"This is a great cottage, well equipt and clean and tidy."
It’s really well located for walking into Grassington and is surrounded by beautiful countryside.
-
"It is in a beautiful location and great base for taking in the Dales"
-
"The cottage was excellent."
It always makes a difference when the beds, bedding and towels are of good quality and these couldn't be faulted. A welcoming cake and supply of milk was a lovely personal touch from the owner. The quality of the furnishings were excellent and the place on a whole was very cosy. Its location was perfect for anyone who likes walking, a 10 minute walk in to Grassington and a lovely pub in Linton.
-
"Fabulous cottage, very well equipped and only a short walk into Grassington."
Will definitely be back.
-
"We had a wonderful holiday, Dales cottage is really lovely and comfortable and the owner Sophie made us very welcome, on arrival we found milk, fizz and a delicious cake in the kitchen."
Comfy beds, lovely bathrooms, a brilliant kitchen, our dog loved sleeping by the Agra and also by the fire in the cosy living room. The cottage is in a perfect location next to beautiful Linton falls and lots of wonderful walks from the door step. One of our favourite walks was 10mins into Grassington, past the waterfalls and stunning scenery and many lambs and sheep. Grassington itself has lots of places to eat and drink. We loved our holiday.

"Dales cottage was lovely."
Arrived to find a lovely bottle of prosecco, fruit cake and big bag of kettle crisps which had been left for us which we didn’t expect. Lovely family size kitchen with AGA cooker which kept the cottage warm. Cozy living room with log burner. We bought our own logs/kindling/firefighters etc but didn’t really need to as there was plenty there already. Loads of dvds and games for the kids and books on the local area. Master bedroom had an on suite shower/toilet so was perfect for us as we were sharing cottage with my parents. The main bathroom was situated right next to their bedroom so we didn’t have any queues of a morning. There was also a downstairs toilet in the utility room. Our 2 children stayed in the loft room which was spacious and very warm. Didn’t realise that there was a pull out bed under one of the singles so we could have brought my husbands grandson but we’ll know for next time. The fountains pub which is a 2 minute drive away served home cooked food and real ales. We came the 2nd week in December and went to the Dickensian festival on the Saturday and Sunday which is 20 minute walk away. Well worth a visit. Very Christmassy. Lots of carol singing, brass band and candlelight walk at 4pm. The 3 main pubs in the grassington village were very busy because of the festival so we couldn’t get a table during the day but there were plenty of cafes and stalls selling hot food so we weren’t put off. We also went to Haworth which is Brontë Country. 40 min drive away. Well worth a visit and very picturesque as it snowed whilst we were there. Overall we loved the cottage and the Yorkshire Dales. Would definitely recommend. We took our dog buddy and I’m sure he would recommend too.

About the location
LINTON
Skipton 8 miles; Grassington 3 miles.
Linton is one of the most outstanding villages in the upper Wharfedale community. The ancient Linton Beck flows through the village crossed by packhorse bridges, stepping-stones and fords. The stone houses clustered around the central green date from the 17th and 18th Century, and at the head of this village stands an architectural masterpiece, the Fountaine Hospital, founded in 1721. The village is served by the Fountaine Inn, with a wide reputation for outstanding beers and food, and its welcoming atmosphere. Close to Linton Falls on the River Wharfe, this is a superb walking area, with many paths to other villages, and easy access to the limestone fells. Down dale is the haunting Abbey ruins and Priory at Bolton Abbey, or the elegant town of Ilkley, overlooked by the famous Ilkley Moor. Up dale are Kettlewell and Buckden, with spectacular limestone scenery. Linton is a great base for exploring the local area with the market town of Skipton and its medieval castle a short drive away, and many other historic places including Bronte Country, Castle Howard, the elegant spa town of Harrogate, racing at Ripon and the majestic medieval city of York within easy motoring distance.
