Clean, bright rooms with a comfy King Size bed and great power shower - perfect after a fun day walking and sightseeing in the Dales. Less than a minute walk to the exceptional village pub but with no noise problems. Before booking we read the comments about parking sometimes being an issue but there was only the Friday we arrived that we couldn’t get parked by the Green, and this space was still only a couple of minutes away. Can wholeheartedly recommend this property. We will be back

The green was just a few steps from the front door with a shallow beck running through. Friendly neighbours. We could go for walks without moving our car or short drives to good walking locations. Nice to light the wood burner on an evening and enjoyed a tasty meal at the pub, again only a few yards from the cottage! The host was helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

  • "Excellent cottage well appointed with everything you could need."

Parking can be a bit tricky on Friday afternoon/evenings and the weekend, but we always manage to get a park somewhere close in the village. Mid week is fine. Pub only a couple of doors down and does nice food and drink. Lots of walks from the cottage and Grassington is easy 25min walk straight from the cottage. Would also recommend the Old Hall Inn in Threshfield and the Carven Arms at Appletreewick for food. Would recommend.

  • "The cottage was in a beautiful village with the village green and river at the front."

Parking was a little difficult. The cottage furnishings were tired, and it was evident that dogs were allowed to stay. The floors needed sorting out. More could have been done to keep the cottage up to standard. We will certainly not stay again where dogs have been allowed, as the lounge smelled of dogs.

  • "An absolutely wonderful cottage in picturesque Linton which makes a perfect base for plenty of good walks with dogs."

The cottage is comfortable and has a very well equipped kitchen - even a slow cooker. The green can be used like a garden so morning cup of tea, sat on the green by the stream was idyllic. There is a good pub, The Fountaine Inn, next door which does food and another one, The Old Hall Inn, in Threshfield which is a 20 minute walk along a footpath - torch recommended.

  • "Excellent cottage, very comfortable situated in a wonderful position on a green in a picturesque village."

Very friendly local people and a particularly notable food serving pub almost next door. The only drawback was not having somewhere to park. Three nights, due to the popularity of the village, we had to park 300 meters outside of the village. During one of those nights, our car was hit and no details left. This took the edge off of a wonderful stay. The location in the Dales was terrific.

  • "A wonderful location and cottage for a walking holiday, as so many popular, scenic routes can be accessed from ‘the door’."

We were able to ‘ditch’ the car for several days. The village is extremely pretty, quiet and we had no problem finding a parking place. The outdoor hose was handy for muddy boots and a mucky dog! Loved the bright furnishings and local paintings in the cottage. Earlier reviews mentioned small bath towels, but large ones have since been purchased. Spotlessly clean and fully equipped. The Fountains Inn serves delicious food and has a dog friendly bar. We thoroughly recommend and it is our intention to return to ‘Sandy Cottage’.

Very busy little place for visitors. Not able to guarantee parking close to the cottage as all parking places rapidly filled by incomers. This was the only major drawback to the location. Otherwise idyllic setting for walks and scenery. Would strongly recommend -with the only caveat being be prepared to park away from the cottage wherever you can get a parking spot - sometimes on the main road.

The Bronte parsonage at Haworth, the ropemaker and Yorkshire Wensleydale creamery at Hawes, festival at Grassington all well worth a visit. The cottage has lovely interior decoration- will be copying some of the design ideas! About the location

LINTON

Skipton 8 miles; Grassington 3 miles.

Linton is one of the most outstanding villages in the upper Wharfedale community. The ancient Linton Beck flows through the village crossed by packhorse bridges, stepping-stones and fords. The stone houses clustered around the central green date from the 17th and 18th Century, and at the head of this village stands an architectural masterpiece, the Fountaine Hospital, founded in 1721. The village is served by the Fountaine Inn, with a wide reputation for outstanding beers and food, and its welcoming atmosphere. Close to Linton Falls on the River Wharfe, this is a superb walking area, with many paths to other villages, and easy access to the limestone fells. Down dale is the haunting Abbey ruins and Priory at Bolton Abbey, or the elegant town of Ilkley, overlooked by the famous Ilkley Moor. Up dale are Kettlewell and Buckden, with spectacular limestone scenery. Linton is a great base for exploring the local area with the market town of Skipton and its medieval castle a short drive away, and many other historic places including Bronte Country, Castle Howard, the elegant spa town of Harrogate, racing at Ripon and the majestic medieval city of York within easy motoring distance.

Note: The stairs are made to the standard of earlier times and so are steeper and more narrow than modern steps. Please note that this property can only accept check ins on Mondays and Fridays.
