"This is a lovely location and the owners are really nice."
There are lots of positive things about the cottage, but lack of detail let it down. I don't want to make a list but little things like all the exterior doors being difficult to open and close, dishwasher that doesn't clean and stiff or leaky taps. So really good but just need maintenance to make it above 4 stars.

"Overall my family and I hand a fantastic stay."
I would say that some of furniture is looking a little tired and could do with being replaced and the carpet at the top of the stairs leading to the bedrooms is frayed along the door line and could become a trip hazard if not dealt with soon. I drive an EV so on site charging would have been a real bonus and the addition of charging point would only add to the experience of staying in a wonderful property in an incredible location

"A lovely spacious place in a good setting but the en-suites let it down by being very small and unheated."
The fridge in the kitchen lacked a door shelf for milk etc and the other fridge|freezer wasn’t big enough for the number of people and located badly near a hot boiler. The dishwasher didn’t always get things clean, even when rinsed first. It was loaded by someone who knows how to use a dishwasher. Otherwise a lovely barn conversion with great views and we appreciated the field to play games in. Easy parking. The grandchildren loved the single beds which were up a short flight of stairs and down a short flight of stairs. Beds were comfy and we had wardrobes and chests of drawers which was good. We visited Brimham Rocks several times - the main reason for choosing Sally’s Barn as it was so close. Also Fountains Abbey. Sainsbury’s delivered which was very useful.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Sally's Barn as it was a great family space, with a well equipped kitchen in a lovely peaceful location."
The only reason I've not given 5 stars is because when a family member went to use the jacuzzi loads of 'stuff/dirt' was ejected from the nozzles in the bath, so we stuck to showers. Apart from that & England losing the cup final it was a very enjoyable stay.
-
"A great property with all you need for a comfortable stay in a lovely location."
Perfect for our three generation family getaway. Close to some nice walks and a short drive to lots of local attractions, Fountaine's Abbey, Brimham Rocks, Light Water Valley, Harrogate and Ripon. It was a shame the local pub is currently closed though.
-
"Christmas tree in the kitchen was a lovely thought."
Perfect place for the family to meet and very comfortable beds.
-
"Brilliant stay for our girls' away weekend."
Comfortable with spectacular views. Shame about the local pub being closed.
-
"Had a great time at Sally’s Barn."
The property is clean well maintained and has everything you need. Great venue for a catch up with friends and plenty of space.Views from the barn were amazing and loads to do in the area. Owner very helpful even when we had to phone very early.
-
"Excellent property great location."
Great place for a large group. Strongly recumbent
-
"Large, spacious stone built cottage with a beautiful outlook across the Dales."
All bedrooms on ground floor level (except for a few stairs) so ideal for my old mum. Lovely kitchen/diner, very well equipped. Good location for Ripon, Harrogate and Fountains Abbey.
-
"The barn was true to the photos with plenty of space for us all (group of 6 friends plus one toddler)."
The surroundings were beautiful with excellent views from the lounge and dining areas. Lovely comfy sofas and nice touches in terms of decor which made it feel really homely without feeling you were in someone else’s home. Sharon was really helpful and on hand when needed but we in no way felt watched over - all very chilled. The group were keen to book again before the weekend was over! I’m sure we will be back.
-
"Absolutely fabulous."
The views alone are worth the money. We had a very snug and comfortable weekend and used it as a base for Ripon and Harrogate.

"Sally’s Barn is a lovely, comfortable property near Fountains Abbey."
First of all, the view of the rolling, green countryside is stunning; you are in a secluded spot away from the adjoining farmhouse on a secure farm estate, but also handy for the village centre of Grantley with pub and playground. The lounge, kitchen and dining areas are well designed; the bedrooms are particularly spacious; the turret room is perfect for teenagers. Grantley is an excellent centre for excursions into the Yorkshire Dales, Ripon and York. Discover Nidderdale and Pateley Bridge; the swimming pools are good too.
-
"Lovely and comfortable house in a perfect spot."
The outside area/garden was fantastic for sitting out in the sun and for the children to play in. Spacious kitchen with good facilitates and cosy front room. 10/10. Thanks for a great week.

"We all really enjoyed our stay at Sally's barn although we feel that a slight change to a couple of things would have resulted in us giving the place top marks all round."
Positives: The interior and exterior of the barn is simply superb and we had everything we needed, including tons of space. The views outside are breathtaking to say the least. The place just ozes charm! Negatives: Although the wooden garden table/bench set looks great, it is really not comfortable at all, so we all quickly struggled with sitting down for more than an hour. This was truly disappointing as we tried to enjoy each evening with BBQ's filled with plenty of the local produce. Furthermore, one small parasol between 6 people is really not enough to protect you from either rain or sun. We like most others come to the Yorkshire Dales for the stunning views and nature so it was a shame that the outside sitting arrangement let the place down.

"Appalling and shocking poor service from sykes (still unresolved, and double charged)."
Will never book via them again. (It appears that numerous other have had the same bad experience) Would book the property again, but only if direct with the owner or via another agent. There are plenty of other lovely properties available.

Fab weekend in a very beautiful part of the country Facilities spot on Barn in a very easily accessible area of the Dales Hosts very helpful and friendly Loved the place and our break Thankyou

"We had a great stay over February half-term."
This converted barn is spacious, welcoming, well maintained, comfortable, quiet, and a great place to relax and recharge the batteries. With Ripon, Harrogate and Masham within easy driving distance it's far enough away to be quiet but close enough to be accessible. We loved it and would definitely recommend.
-
"We had a lovely warm, comfortable stay at the cottage."
Very private, very quiet, nice area to explore. The cottage has all the facilities you need, just the dishwasher did not work, so lots of hand washing for so many people!
The dishwasher does work try asking the owner to show you, we live on site so could have bobbed round at any time, that’s what we are here for Property Owner

Hi fabulous time had by all loved Sallys barn and the area around it We are intending to come back which says it all really Areas to improve dishwasher does not work full stop We tried everything we could Internet is not the best Jacuzzi bath not working It would just help to know these things before you arrive Apart from that FAB
The dishwasher does work, try asking the owner, we live on site and could have bobbed round at any time to show you, I notice you have re booked so please just ask if you can’t get it to work Property Owner

"Beautiful barn, very well presented."
It was cold when we arrived, assuming the heating had been off if the barn had been empty previously but once we'd worked out how to switch the heating on and lit the fire it was soon warm. Only real suggestions for improvements would be the dishwasher, no matter how many times we used it the contents were never fully clean and items felt like they were covered in bits. Maybe the filter needs changing/cleaning. The oven on one day wouldn't work, but after managing to find a you tube video we got it working again. I would suggest velux blinds on the windows in the main bedroom ceiling with a long pole to open and close it as the light did wake us up early. Other than that the barn was well equipped and comfortable for our short stay.

"Lovely property in a beautiful setting."
Good facilities clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend the property.

"A fantastic break at Sally’s Barn."
Great property. Clean, very comfortable, well-equipped and a great location. Fantastic views.
-
"We had a lovely holiday at Sally's Barn, it was comfortably furnished and clean and the sun shone all week."
We visited the local attractions of Fountains Abbey and Brimham Rocks which we would recommend. Enjoyed rowing on the river at Knaresborough, breakfast at Betty's in Harrowgate, the Ingleton Waterfalls and riding the Swale Trail. We ate out a lot locally and would definitely recommend The Crown in Pateley Bridge.
-
"A thoroughly enjoyable week."
A comfortable cottage with a pleasing landscape to look out upon and pleasant and helpful owners.
-
"The house is in a super location with fabulous views but is starting to look tired."
A number of light switches and door furniture need attention. As has been said, the fridge and fridge/freezer are not large and whilst we managed as a family of 4, larger groups may struggle. The en-suite facilities in one of the bedrooms is compact and only just usable. There are velux windows in the bedrooms but they do not have blinds so may not be suitable if you like to sleep in the dark. Unfortunately the BBQ we were expecting had been removed due to COVID, however there were still a selection of books, games and puzzles. The biggest issue we had was the broadband / Wi-fi. We only managed to get speeds of 0.4Mb and the Wi-fi did not reach to the bedrooms. We managed to download emails but we were unable to use the internet for much more. As there is only a single television, we were planning to use streaming services but could not due to the poor broadband speeds. We had a couple of glorious days and would have liked some comfy garden chairs; there are only a couple of pub style bench tables which are not suitable for relaxing in. There are some great walks and a really good pub nearby.

"We had a couple of issues with Sally's barn but didn't feel we should put them in the guest book to make it look bad, so we emailed them direct telling them."
On arrival 3 cups from the cupboard were dirty,( with covid attention should have been paid to this sort of thing.) The leather sofa was quite old and unfortunately where people had sweated it had a rather unpleasant smell. Dust on the beams was another thing, anyone with allergies might have a problem. Unfortunately we haven't heard anything back from the owners which we are disappointed about. We would like to think these points are addressed for future guests.
-
"Having been to many luxury cottages in Ripon over the years this isn’t one of them."
On a arrival after a 3 hour trip there wasn’t even a tea bag or a drop of milk so dumped our bags and went shopping. Came to make our meal and every tray we took out of the cub hoard had food on it,the cheese grater was dirty and the potato peeler was full of grease, the cupboard doors in kitchen were falling off and all the living room furniture is not clean,we were very disappointed ☹️ for the money we paid and in these Covid times we have to be careful, think the icing on the cake was the honesty box for the logs

"Had a lovely time during our stay at Sally's Barn, the property was in a stunning location and lovely inside."
Can't wait to go back.
-
"Beautiful accommodation in a Beautiful part of England."
-
"Had an amazing break at Sally's Barn - its in a really pretty location with gorgeous views, we didn't want to come home!"
The cottage was beautifully decorated and really spacious - the outside space is brilliant too, and because it is enclosed it meant the kids could play out no problem. The owner was really lovely and whenever we needed anything she was on hand. The location of the cottage is ideal for exploring the area, there are walks from the barn itself, and all our other trips out were no more than 20 mins by car (Ripon, Fountains Abbey, Harrogate, Hackfall Woods). We had a wonderful meal in the local pub 'The Grantley Arms' - a gorgeous pub with delicious food and the hosts were so friendly - they are also currently doing a limited take-away menu (during covid) which we enjoyed one night as it's only a 2 minute walk from the barn - their fish and chips were delicious. Cannot recommend Sally's Barn enough and hope to return soon.
-
"I had high hopes and they were met; - the place is really comfortable, very well organised, in a quiet idyllic situation - I would highly recommend it Just a couple of observations: 1."
the wifi and phone signal were poor or patchy. If there is anything that can be done, it needs to be, but, if not, a warning needs to be added to the details. to some people it is important 2.. for a family for a week, it really does need a large fridge/freezer - it has a small freezer and two small fridges.
-
"Exactly what you want from a holiday rental - clean, warm, comfortable, lovely setting, well located, pleasant and helpful owners who are close by but don't interfere with your stay."
We rent a lot of houses for our family of five and are frequently disappointed with some aspect of the house or facilities. Only on a few occasions does everything work out exactly as you want it to and this was one of those times. Highly recommended!
-
"Barn was lovely."
Had everything we needed and more. The scenery around it was stunning. Lots of places of interest nearby.
-
"Sally’s Barn has been beautifully and thoughtfully restored and is a home from home."
The views are fantastic, and the barn is conveniently situated for visiting some of the must-see spots in the Dales. One or two items need addressing. The toaster and dishwasher need replacing and a wardrobe in bedroom 2 surely is a must. The sachets of milk which were left as part of the paltry welcome tray were 3 months out of date. It would have been a nice touch to have been welcomed by the owners but we didn’t see them at all.
-
"Sally's barn was a beautiful property, central for everything we went to visit."
It had everything included in the property to make it feel like home from home and of course we chose to visit on the hottest week which made the holiday even better!! Would thoroughly recommend this fantastic barn to anyone
-
"A lovely holiday home in a beautiful part of Yorkshire with interesting towns and villages in the local area."
We had a lovely warm welcome with coffee tea and biscuits and a nice warm house
-
"Booking was easy followed by emails with info, reminders etc."
Sallys Barn was spacious, comfortable, clean and in a great setting with gorgeous views across the fields. We were ideally located for visiting lots of local attractions. Our holiday was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Would happily stay at Sallys Barn again and will book with Sykes holidays again.
-
"The location was stunning and the house was just as good."
It didn't look big from the outside but had plenty of room for the 8 of us that stayed.
-
"The barn is beautifully styled and very spacious including the big bedrooms."
The owner was very welcoming. We found the barn relaxing - the facilities are excellent and the views are wonderful. It was perfect for us - three couples and a child - and we will definitely look to stay here again if we are visiting the area.
-
"Sally’s Barn was such a lovely, comfortable, cosy home for the October half term week."
The view every morning from the living room was breathtaking and it was always extremely warm and welcoming to come back to after a day out exploring. The children loved their room such a lovely detail, and each couple were extremely happy with their rooms.
-
"Lovely location and facilities excellent."
One gripe was the Internet access; it was very spasmodic and slow. Also a shame there was no wardrobe in second bedroom, despite there being plenty of room.
-
"Enjoyed a lovely family holiday, helped by excellent weather."
Accommodation was as described and per pictures, children enjoyed playing in the garden which had wonderful views of the countryside. Spacious accommodation and lots of nice details to the property and no clutter, short walk to the nearby pub and easy to find and access the property.
-
"Sally’s Barn is situated in the beautiful village of Grantley with amazing views over the valley."
The barn is spacious and elegant but also warm and cosy. The owners live on the farm and were welcoming and helpful. A super find which we hope to revisit and will recommend to all our friends and family!
-
"Well-equipped and comfortable with a lovely view."
Ideally situated for local visits, eg. Fountains Abbey; Brimham Rocks and Ripon and further afield eg. York; Whitby and Skipton. Only minus factor was no local snow for the Australian members of the party!!
-
"As we entered the property we were amazed how big it actually was."
We had a family gathering for my husband's birthday and found everything we needed there. Spacious kitchen/diner. Bedrooms were a good size too. The heating system was spot on too in fact it was too warm sometimes. It took us a while to fathom out the boiler but got there in the end. Barn in a great position for visiting Fountains Abbey and Brimham Rocks and it was only 30 minutes to Harrogate. Fantastic views from lounge. Will definitely come back perhaps in the summer time and do some walking around here and also spend some time outside on the patio and lawn.
-
"The cottage and the area are absolutely stunning."
Photos do not do the justice this place.
-
"This barn conversion is absolutely stunning."
.on the inside and the views outside. It was warm and spacious, brilliant for family gatherings. Has everything you need. The cot and highchair were much appreciated. Gutted that the local pub was closed for their annual holiday, but not the fault of the cottage.
-
"Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location."
I'd recommend the cottage and the Grantley Arms.
