  • "Good location, close to shop and pubs, walks from the door and a fabulous view from the back."

Easy access to The Dales, enjoyed some good bike rides. Spotlessly clean, warm and quiet. Plenty of hot water for a powerful shower. Slightly tight for 5 adults, perfect for 4. Would have appreciated a couple of larger pans to cook for 5 but otherwise very well equipped. Fast internet connection. Highly recommended.

  • "Comfortable cottage with a lovely view."

Thought the safety lights were a useful touch. We were a bit surprised that we were unable to get into the property until 5pm.. prior to COVID the average was 2-3pm. It seems that access to cottages is becoming later and later and there's little justification for it now, especially as we are often asked to assist the cleaners by stripping beds and emptying bins at the end of our stay, which we happily do.. we left a note to advise that there were no spare internal bin bags left that we could find and we also used the last spare AA battery. Thanks

Had everything needed (even a digital radio in the kitchen oh joy). Very comfortable and clean. Nice garden with view onto fields. Quiet but only two mins walk to shop and pub. Would love to come back sometime.

  • "The house is very comfortable with lovely views from the garden."

Its location was unexpected, being on a small housing estate, but this did not detract from its benefits. The shop and pubs in Middleham are within walking distance and it is well placed for walks and visiting other places in the area. The owner was helpful and dealt swiftly with our queries.

  • "The cottage is sited in a quiet position with far reaching views across Wensleydale from the rear."

It has all the facilities that we needed and we soon felt at home there. The beds and settees are comfortable. There are lots of guides and maps to help you explore the area. With a well stocked shop (and a chip shop) within walking distance, it is an ideal base. We would recommend it as a base to explore Wensleydale and beyond.

  • "Lovely property suited for our family of 5."

I cooked a full meal every evening and found all pots, pans and utensils I needed in the cupboard which made life easy, even down to foil to line the cooking trays. The property was warm, cosy and comfortable, including the beds. The intrustions for boiler/heating use were easy. The view from the garden and consevatory were amazing, and the garden is a lovely little well maintained space. It's very difficult to find fault and would recommend the property. The radiators maybe need bleeding though? The heating system and radiators make a lot of noise when the heating comes on in the morning, no need for an alarm clock. Also maybe needs provision for re-cycling, we were not passing the re-cycling places listed on our way home, so it was either take it home with us or throw it in with general waste.

  • "Lovely house in a key location to explore the area in every direction."

The house was clean and had all we needed. If you like horses it's the place to be! If you like cheese the Wenleydale creamery is a short drive away. Lots of national landmarks for all abilities and ages such as Fountains abbey and gardens, Brimham rocks, Malham tan and cove, Aysgarth falls (beautiful after a rainfall), Buckden pike and falls are also about 40mins-1hr drive. Overall we would recommend to anyone.

I feel the information provided was exactly what we received. The only improvement would be the seating in the conservatory was so low that it was uncomfortable to sit on especially for oldies!

  • "We have already voiced our concern over the water pressure which was totally inadequate for showering and for the washing machine - at times for hand washing up too!"

The cottage should not be let again until this has been sorted out. Otherwise, this is a well-equipped, warm and comfortable cottage.

We contacted the water board immediately after your phone call to try to resolve the problem. It was unfortunate that they could not respond immediately but the problem was caused by a broken part in the water meter and has now been resolved. You were offered alternative accommodation by Sykes on the day you raised the issue but this was rejected by yourself and you gladly accepted a gratuity as recompense for any inconvenience the issue caused. Water pressure not so good and outdoor furniture not really suitable would suggest you take your own chairs as the view and peace is amazing. Would recommend the cottage.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and recommend the cottage. Thank you. The subsequent guest has queried the water pressure and we have now asked the Water Board to look into this as we were not aware of any problem. The outdoor furniture situation is also been looked into. Property Owner

  • "Cottage absolutely home from home with stunning views over the fields to the rear."

Very comfortable, especially the beds, the heating was great for the chilly evenings and there was excellent wifi. Shame the tv was not working at the time but this was due to a fault with the main transmitter which had been struck by lightening! There was a dvd player so we watched films instead. On arrival we had a problem with a key to the conservatory but the owner went above and beyond to resolve this very quickly. On a slightly negative note and not that it spoilt the holiday at all, the dvd's very old and could do with updating and there were a lot of cobwebs/dead flies etc in the conservatory, especially on the ceiling. I also had to chase and catch a spider which ran behind the double bed and there was an awful lot of dust but these are easily resolved and did not impact our stay. We would certainly return in the future.

Lots of cycling and walking. We only used the car once in a week. We had a great holiday thanks. The only thing to mention is that the cycle shed isn't long enough to fit modern 29" wheel mountain bikes in without removing the front wheel. It would have been great to have been able to use the garage to lock our very expensive bikes away.

Shower was a bit small and could do with a shelf as kept having to bend down and pick shampoo off floor. Could do with garden table and chairs but was otherwise very comfortable and adequate. Could do with a bit of a makeover but that is a matter of taste. All in all a nice house for a base in the area.

Clearly hadn't been checked properly. I put everything through the dishwasher as didn't feel happy to use. Not good in Covid times. There was a pair of men's underpants in a drawer in one of the bedrooms. Thankfully clean! Again clearly had not been checked and therefore cleaned. Wasn't a good feeling. Garden furniture for eating would be good.

Lovely view from the windows of the property, and it was clean but looks very tired and I felt like I was staying at my grandparents home, house dated and old fashioned, no cafeteria so we had to forgo our coffee all week, no tea strainer, all small things but annoyingly missing, house very central location in the dales for walking and larger towns not to far away, would stay again if the price was right

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback following your stay, had we had been made aware of the missing items like the cafetiere we would have been more than happy to arrange one for you. Since the photos were on the website we have added new features to the property that you would have been able to enjoy during your stay, including a new log burner, new bathroom and a Smart TV and have added a TV in one of the bedrooms. Thank you again for your feedback and we are sorry to hear that our property didn't quite meet your expectations. Property Owner

A good supply of books Dvd's and local information. The house was well equipped, however as there is no washing machine, a clothes drying rack would be helpful (also for rain soaked clothes!) and information about local launderette. The garden is indeed tranquil, with a lovely view....A bench/chairs would make a sunny moment lovely. A little more detail on finding the property might be helpful as the estate is a little confusing. We had a lovely stay and would recommend.
