  • "Wonderful week at Moorside Cottage."

This cottage is perfect for a couple. It is warm, cosy, homely and atmospheric. The electric oven is one of the best I have encountered at a holiday let and the kitchen is well equipped with everything a couple would need. The bed is super comfortable and so is the sofa. The water was lovely and hot for both shower and bath. It also has the advantage of a wood burner, although you wouldn't need it as the house is warm enough. It is nice for cosiness though! There is an adjoining farm with free range hens and a few special breed sheep which you can watch from the kitchen window. We cant wait to book again.

  • "Moorside Cottage was a pleasure to spend time in."

It gave that 'cosy' feel throughout. It has a wood burner fire (which we didn't use) and also central heating. The kitchen has recently been refurbished and was a pleasure to potter around. The views from the front room and bedroom are idyllic. The view from the rear kitchen is eually as amusing watching the geese and ducks potter around the neighbouring premises. If you have a dog there's a really pleasant short walk to the right of the crossroads which takes you up to the reservoir (and further should you like a good walk). Haworth is only a mile and a quarter away so easily accessible for shopping and visiting. Overall we had the most pleasant stay at Moorside Cottage.

So glad everything was ok for you and you enjoyed the area Amanda Property Owner

We picked a scorching hot week but the thick walls of the cottage kept it very cool indoors - a huge relief for our elderly golden retriever!! Only downside is the lack of a grassy area but there was easy access to a quiet road to walk the dog. Cottage cute and cozy

  • "Really friendly owner but maybe the cottage could be maintained a bit better; ie."

No starter fire/wood pack and no gate on front of property when we arrived. Road unfortunately was used like Brands Hatch by the locals.

Sorry about the starter pack it was so warm didn’t think to leave any. But I did bring some up when you got in touch. And the gate was replaced 2 days into your holiday which I do apologise that’s totally my fault my husband didn’t realise there was someone in when he had taken it off. I’m afraid I can’t do anything about the road hope this didn’t spoil your holiday many thanks, Amanda Property Owner

Also make it clearer about the car park space,ie on a hill adjacent to cottage.

There is a sign on the cottage saying moorside cottage. And on the parking space saying parking for the cottage . The paved area for the car park would say it slightly un level but wouldn’t say it’s too hilly no one has mentioned it before but Thankyou for your feed back nice to meet you both Property Owner

It was comfortable and cosy, the owners were very generous and said we could change the temperature on the thermostat as required. The house was very clean - although the fridge did need a bit of a clean. The towels and linen all smelt fresh and clean and there was a good amount of crockery, cutlery etc in the kitchen - could do we a few more serving spoons but that’s the only thing! Oh, and there was no ice cube tray so bought a pack of ice cubes for our g&t’s! Really enjoyed the fresh eggs and honey too and thank you for having us.

  • "Lovely cottage and very close to great location however we struggle a lot but the fact the cottage is just next to a major countryside road."

Cars rush up and down at the speed of light and make a lot of noise. It was very difficult to relax. For many people that might not be an issue but for as is a major deal-breaker. I wish there was something warning travellers about the distance to the main road. Again everything else was just what we expected but staying in the countryside in a place noisier than our place in the city was not something we anticipated.

  • "The cottage was fine , the host nice and friendly , but the listing failed to mention a very busy and fast road (60mph) was the legal speed limit but this was quite often broken with motorbikes ,boy racers etc , only a small patio facing the road , my dog was very nervous of the traffic noise , it would be helpful and i think necessary for the road to be mentioned in the listing ."

We came back home 4 days early as we didnt like the closeness off the road , having said that plenty if places to visit through the day but would have liked to be able to sit quietly to relax on the evening in the lovely weather we experienced whilst there .

The adjacent road was a little noisy at times (I think the locals used it as a race track) but the cottage itself and the stunning views made up for that one downside. It takes about half an hour to walk into Haworth but it is the right side of the village to easily get to the Brontë walk to the waterfall and Top Withens. Would definitely return.

It is near to many attractions and is ideal if you enjoy walking. The cottage was warm and cosy, the bed was comfortable, and hot water was instant and plentiful in the bath and shower. There was plenty to entertain the visitor in wet weather, including a good size television, videos, books magazines and puzzles. We would have appreciated a freezer compartment in the fridge for freezing ice packs and storing items such as frozen peas for self catering but we managed quite well without this. We enjoyed our holiday very much and particularly appreciated the friendliness of the owner who also provided milk, tea, coffee and biscuits in readiness for our arrival.

Cottage could do with a clean and some cooking utensils require replacing as well as brighter bulbs required.fire could have been laid ready to light this time of year

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused with regards to the hot water. Though we did attend as soon as we were aware of the issue, unfortunately as it was over the Christmas period I was unable to get a plumber to resolve the issue immediately. We have replaced all the cooking utensils and changed the light bulbs for much brighter ones as you suggested. We are also happy to have the fire laid for guests arrival upon request. We have just undertaken a three month refurbishment of the property and are delighted with the results. About the location

HAWORTH

Skipton 13 miles; Hebden Bridge 8 miles.

The small village of Haworth was home to the famous Bronte sisters, who were inspired by the surrounding moorland to pen their novels, which have become classics of English Literature. Haworth is a village that time almost forgot, with its myriad of curiosity and antique shops, alleyways and cobbled streets creating a wonderful period atmosphere, all set against a framing backdrop of countryside famously described in the novel Wuthering Heights as wild, rugged and barren. Nearby, the famous Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, an authentic steam railway brought to prominence in the film The Railway Children, provides a lovely day out with a regular service to the old village of Oxenhope. The area abounds with popular places to visit, including the Bronte Parsonage Museum, East Riddlesden Hall, and the National Railway Museum in York. The market town of Skipton, often fondly regarded as the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales, is just a short drive away, and also within reach are elegant Harrogate and vibrant Leeds and Manchester.
