  • "There is a steep hill to get up to the property if walking."

would be ok for most people but something to consider if you struggle to walk

Thank you for your review Mr Morris. The property is situated 5 doors down from the centre of Skipton but we personally love how close the cottage is to everything in Skipton for all the amenities and restaurants. I am glad you had a lovely holiday otherwise! Best wishes, Cathy and James. Property Owner

So easy to travel out of Skipton from here and the house is bang in the middle of Skipton so great for shops

  • "Lovely little cottage, very clean and great location."

Facilties in general good but could do with a hair dryer as I didn't pack one as usually is provided and a lamp in sitting room would of been beneficial.

Jackie thank you for your review. We have taken note of your requests. By the end of November both a table lamp and hair dryer should be in the property. We are aiming to put up the Christmas Tree the last weekend in November for festive vibes. Best wishes Cathy and Jim Property Owner

  • "A gem of a cottage."

Spotlessly clean with lovely decor. Nice comfy beds. A lovely seating area outside to have a drink. So quiet and relaxing. Situated virtually in the centre of the beautiful town of Skipton just up from the bus station. The Road is quiet steep but not far to walk up.to the cottage. Although it hasn't got parking we managed to park outside of the cottage, after 5pm the road is clear. I would recommend. We had a fabulous few days. Weather was a bonus.

Thank you Christine for giving us such a lovely review. We too have always enjoyed our time at Bobs cottage. The location is very handy for the town centre, where there are lots of lovely places to eat and drink. Such as the Thai Basil, the Cock and Bottle, Royal Shepherd Inn, Zaiqa Indian Cuisine, and Nana’s where they make their own lovely quiche. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Best wishes Cathy and Jim Property Owner

  • "The property is a nice little place, very convenient for Skipton, the canal walks and shops at your fingertips, and easy access to other areas of Yorkshire."

Nicely laid out, with the added bonus of a small utility/boot room at the back and downstairs toilet. But it could do with a bit of a deep clean. The bathroom especially was very dusty, with a large amount of dust collected on the tiles, nothing a quick hoover round wouldn't fix. I took photos of the dust, so I'm happy to share with the owners if needed. The property could also benefit from some general maintenance and decorating freshening up. In the bedrooms, storage is very minimal, with the small rail in the second double bedroom at the rear hanging off the wall. During our stay it wasn't suitable or safe enough to hang any clothing on and there wasn't any other space to hang clothes so my son had to pretty much live out of a suitcase for the duration of our stay. The smallest single room has no hanging storage at all, and no real usable drawer space, the drawers were only small enough for underwear. There wasn't even a hook on the back of the door, which the other bedrooms had. Even this would have been better than nothing. Some hooks on the wall at the end of the bed, or a rail would be suitable for this smaller room. Also in this room, the bulb had gone in the lamp and we couldn't find any spare ones in the house. I feel like this should have been checked and changed before we arrived, so we couldn't use it during our stay. The hanging rail in the main bedroom had to be shared between all of us, which wasn't ideal for privacy of the guest staying in the large main bedroom. I would also suggest that bigger bath towels are provided as they weren't big enough to go around even the smallest person in our group. Or take your own! The shower could do with moving as it's positioned to the right-hand side of the bath, next to the shower screen, which leaks water onto the floor! The shower isn't easy to use with its positioning. In the kitchen, the integrated fridge was not working, and having to collect fridge items from the stand-alone fridge in the utility area was a bit of a pain. Not sure how long the fridge has been broken for, but long enough for the owners to have typed up a note and put it in the information folder. Parking wasn't a problem for us, it's a very steep hill so make sure your car handbrake is working! One other thing, while we were in during the day, someone arrived to do some work on we assume the step at the rear of the property. We weren't advised that this was happening, and while I was in the kitchen, this man suddenly appeared in the garden/courtyard, filling up a bucket from the outside tap! Whilst this wasn't so much of a problem, if we'd have been sat outside in the courtyard, this could have been very inconvenient. I understand that maintenance needs to be carried out and whilst he didn't enter the actual property, it was a bit of a shock to see a random man out the back. Otherwise, everything else made for a lovely stay.

Here is a recent update, This traditional Victorian property now benefits from an award winning housekeeping team. The decoration and maintenance throughout the property is to a good standard. All of the bedrooms have sufficient hanging rails and storage, including drawer space. All lamps and light fittings are fitted with light bulbs. The bath towels that are provided are purchased to a Bath Towel specification, and may vary in size according to where they were purchased. As owners of the property we have used the shower on numerous occasions, and have found it easy to use and not leak. Just to clarify the hill the property is on , is five houses up from the town center, which is usually less than a two minute walk, being very convenient for all that Skipton has to offer visitors. We have guests who return to the property and enjoy their stay at Bob's Cottage. We look forward to welcoming both our new and returning guests. Best wishes Cathy and Jim Property Owner

  • "Great location about 5 minutes walk to High St."

Parking was a bit of a problem due to non residents parking on road during the day. Both dustbins were full when we arrived so appeared previous occupants had not put them out to be emptied by the refuse collectors. Looks to have been recently refurbished and decorated. Bonus also of a downstairs toilet.

  • "A clean comfotable house with everything we needed for a pleasant stay."

Reasonably priced. Its just off the main shopping area and behind a nightclub and may be noisy on weekends. We stayed Monday to Friday and there was no noise. Outside Parking is on a first come basis but we had no problems with parking. It's near the canal which was a nice walk with the dog. It's a good touring base for Yorkshire

  • "The outside area was not clean, and is need of some maintenance (gate rickety) and with a little bit of attention could be a pleasant area."

Although the property was clean overall, it just needed more attention to detail, including door and window recesses, the downstairs toilet was dusty and the cistern kept sticking. The vacuum cleaner is not fit for purpose, not powerful enough and the unit quickly got hot. Finally the bath towels are possibly the smallest we have ever seen. The location is great with easy access to the town, pubs, restaurants, and railway station.

  • "A beautifully presented cottage, which was spotlessly clean and tidy."

Lots of pros eg very comfy beds, short walk to town, well stocked kitchen, good shower and cloakroom Cons, No drawers or wardrobes in any bedrooms only hanging rails, noise from the nightclub on the main street with windows open, extra warm duvet provided in a very hot summer.

Thank you for your comments Alison. We agree one of the cottages advantages is it being central and at the heart of Skipton. Our housekeeping team set themselves high standards. We do hope you visit Bob's cottage again. regards Cathy and Jim Property Owner

  • "The property was immaculate and a pleasure to stay in, however there were a couple of issues, 1."

The cutlery was unsuitable and needs replacing with stainless steel as unable to clean around the plastic handles. 2.The toilet seat in the bathroom is loose and ill fitting . The outside yard could do with brightening up. But overall it was a delightful stay.

hello Caroline Thank you for your feedback. It is lovely to hear you very much enjoyed your stay at Bob's cottage and that the property overall met your standards. House keeping will sort out any issues with the toilet seat, you pointed out, sorry about that, however it should be resolved very soon. The yard is undergoing a few enhancements, which we hope you would approve of should you stay at the cottage again. best wishes Cathy and Jim Property Owner

  • "A really convenient position for the town (most things just a short walk away)."

Cottage had everything we needed and was clean and well presented. Skipton itself was a delight with independent shops and friendly people. Our only very minor niggle was not knowing how we should leave the property as this wasn't in the instruction folder. We stripped beds and left linen and towels on the floor.

Thank you Philip for taking the time to comment. Yes Skipton is indeed a friendly town. We are lucky with our housekeeping team, they look after the cottage really well. And your comment regarding the bed linen and towels is duly noted. Hopefully you will visit Bob's Cottage again in the future. Best regards Cathy and Jim Property Owner
