"Liz had thought of everything we could have wanted, including a scoop for ground coffee!"
Although we didn’t cook we could have quite easily. It was also immaculately clean. The property is very comfortably furnished, and has lovely views front and back. The Wi-Fi worked, and phone reception, and great TV options to sign into - if you can remember your passwords! Lots of peace and quiet too. We hope to return.
-
"Very comfortably furnished and well equipt property, one of the best we have ever stayed in."
There was plenty of room for the 5 adults in our party and we never felt on top of one another.
-
"As soon as we stepped into the cottage we felt instantly comfortable and at home."
Immaculately clean and comfortable. Extremely comfortable beds and lovely showers. Liz was a highly considerate host. Provided recommendations of local pubs and very kindly offered the children the chance to see the tractors on the farm. Perfect location for access to York and the gorgeous countryside around it. So peaceful and quiet, ideal for relaxing after busy days exploring. I would thoroughly recommend if you’re looking for a calm retreat that’s still close and accessible to explore York and surrounding areas!

"I would definitely recommend Chestnuts at Youlton Lodge."
It was fabulous. The location was beautiful and a good central point from which to drive out across the county. The house was well equipped, spotlessly clean, comfortable and beautifully presented. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

"The 5-star reviews are much deserved!"
We (five adults) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in June 2024. We were blessed by the weather and made good use of the beautiful garden space. We can't think of anything to improve the holiday property. The location is ideal for exploring the wonders of North Yorkshire! The lovely owner, Liz, is very helpful and friendly.

Well planned kitchen too. There is lots to do and see with castles and ruins and abbeys etc. and great pub food and cafes in easy reach . the sheltered garden and stroll to the village shop were a treat. Thoroughly recommend .

Everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Would definitely return another time.

"We had a great holiday at Chestnuts!"
The house is lovely: relaxing decor, clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. Liz and her family are friendly and welcoming and our kids loved meeting the animals. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and peaceful. There is a lot to do in the vicinity. We stayed ten days, visiting the city of York several times. Also enjoyed the World of James Herriot, local walks around Tollerton and a brilliant day at Whitby.

"The cottage was superb."
Distinguished property with a lovely garden. But we were surrounded by water as floods were surrounding us. Very very limiting as to what we could do. Felt very trapped. The owner was very apologetic but not her fault. So very disappointing. My husband had died three weeks previously so hoping for a relaxing holiday but overall a very stressful week.Glad to come home.
Many thanks for your positive feedback about the property. I'm sorry that the surrounding flood water had spoiled your holiday. Unfortunately, we have been experiencing the wettest winter for a number of years, with excessive rain that caused a lot of flooding in the whole area, with many roads having to be closed. This caused our usual access road from the village to be flooded, but we do maintain alternative access to get to and from the property. Property Owner

The house was lovely and full of character. Very roomy and comfortable. It was warm, cosy and very clean. Beautiful views front and back with a lovely garden to relax in when the weather permits. Our host was friendly and most helpful. We found everything we needed for a very enjoyable holiday. We will certainly be going back. Thank you very much Liz, for a great holiday.

"This is our third time holidaying at Chestnuts - we love it!"
Liz, just keep maintaining the high standard that you've already achieved. We welcomed the addition of the bicycle lock and hopefully we will be able to make use of the new outdoor table and chairs when we next visit.

"A beautiful cottage in a stunning and peaceful location."
Exceptionally clean and very well equipped. The sitting room has the most amazing bay window and view of the garden. From the kitchen we watched the antics of their horse! The garden is beautiful and larger than it looks on the photo. The summer house area was perfect for the evening sun. We woke in the morning to the sound of birds and sheep. A great location from which to explore York and some gorgeous Yorkshire towns like Ripon, Thirsk (famous for James Herriot) and Harrogate. The area is great for cycling. Lots of quiet lanes, beautiful villages and views of the North York Moors as a backdrop. The secure bike storage was very much appreciated.

"As fellow holiday let owners we found The Chestnuts to be perfect."
Lovely and clean, great location, beautiful garden and summerhouse to enjoy in the peace and quiet, Liz our host was lovely. It's just a short amble into the lovely village with it's great shop. Fantastic part of the Yorkshire with lots to see and do for all ages, our week went so quickly.

"What a gem!"
Chestnuts was just as Sykes described; clean, comfortable and with everything we needed for our party of five adults. Being on an arable farm it is surrounded by fields and nature. It felt so tranquil waking to the sound of birdsong and lambs bleeting. Lovely Liz was there to meet us and made us very welcome. The gardens are great for gathering around for a chat or a bite to eat. We appreciated the bothy/boot-room where we all changed in and out of our jackets and boots. Tollerton PO has a well stocked shop and deli counter (tasty brownies). We all enjoyed visiting Fountains Abbey, Beningbrough Gardens (very nearby), Ripon and York. Yorkshire has an abundance of coffee shops, pubs and restaurants to choose from. Equally we had everything we needed for preparing meals at Chestnuts. Thank you Liz for supplying such a fabulous home from home.

"A lovely spacious country house style property."
Situated in a rural location with a beautiful garden. Very clean and maintained to a very high standard. The owners are very pleasant and very helpful. I don't think the online photographs of the property do it justice, particularly the lounge. Would be happy to use the property again!

"Chestnuts at Youlton Lodge is a beautiful property in lovely surroundings."
Very clean, comfortable and well equipped, all you could want for a holiday
-
"This is a beautiful cottage, very clean , a beautiful situation looking onto to peaceful countryside."
We had a lovely week with our Canadian relatives who were very impressed by the quality of the accommodation. The small niggle was the heating. We couldnt adjust it and it became cold during the day. One of our party was very old and easily chilled. During summer months this would not be a problem, but as it gets colder some adjustment or supplementary heating is needed.

"We were so pleased to arrive to find such a beautiful, clean and well equipped property with lovely views over the farm and surrounding countryside."
Very quiet and peaceful with lovely walks. The Designer Outlet in York is worth a visit and the Forbidden Corner in Leyburn was a great day out with the kids. We also travelled to Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Scarborough water park and the beautiful Aysgarth Falls. We stayed for a week at Youlton Lodge and had a great time, just wish we could have stayed longer! Many thanks for a lovely stay!
