  • "The situation of the site is lovely."

Quiet, no light pollution, birdsong, a burn running through the grounds provided a soothing background ambience. The property looks lovely from the outside, but as soon as we walked in you could smell the damp. There is lots of cupboard space but when I went to put my clothes in them they were wet with moisture so I keep them in the suitcase. The bedrooms were basic and my bed also felt a little damp from the atmosphere. What you’re not told until you have paid is that you have to take a sizeable stash of pound coins to feed the meter. We were there for 3 nights and I spent £60 keeping the place warm, the hot water and lights on. Why they couldn’t at least provide a card meter in this day and age I don’t know. It is actually quite tricky to get £ coins these days and thank god they had my bank on Brodick so I could get some otherwise we would have been well and truly in the dark! The microwave didn’t work, the fire extinguisher hadn’t been checked for 3 years and the fire blanket checklist only displayed the month not the year they were checked. The bathroom had a leak and the blind had seen better days too. They were in the process of updating the lodges while we were there, cladding them with insulating materials which was good to see. I recommend installing wood burners to give added coziness though. The owners were lovely and couldn’t be more welcoming but we both agreed that next time we would go for a hotel.

  • "Had a great short break in this cabin."

Dyemill lodges are in a lovely peaceful location. Great for exploring the amazing Isle of Arran and a short drive to Lamlash with shops and pubs. The cabins are a basic, no frills accommodation that are great value for money, equipped with everything you need. Red squirrels visited everyday as an added bonus.
