  • "We enjoyed our stay on Beaconsfield Park, it was very peaceful (apart from the traffic noise from the A49 behind our lodge Callow 5."

The park was well maintained and the staff very friendly. We also had great weather and were able to do a lot of sightseeing. We particularly liked Carding Mill Valley. However the lodge itself needs some attention. As previous reviewers have said over the years the dining room chairs need replacing, they are most uncomfortable. Also more mirrors are needed, especially a full length one. There isn't a mirror suitable for using a hair dryer with, very difficult to dry hair when you can't see it. Also the outside furniture is shabby and needs replacing. All these points have been mentioned numerous times over the years, but nothing seems to be done. Obviously the owner is not interested in people enjoying their holiday which is a shame when they have been looking forward to staying in a lovely lodge only to be disappointed.

  • "We had a lovely and relaxing time, the staff were super friendly and helpful."

The location was lovely, the site was beautiful and everything clean, except one small piece of glass we found in the hot tub, maybe some plastic cups would help for using in hot tub, I didn’t see any. Other than that the kitchen had everything you would expect. We read the reviews briefly before coming and agree with some points, of noisy traffic and VERY firm beds but this didn’t affect my sleep. The seats at the dining table need replacing and we had to sit on cushions, no full length mirror anywhere, not really the luxury you expect for the price of the stay. I wouldn’t let any of this put you off staying but hopefully the owners take some note of these comments.

  • "Ive waited a few weeks before leaving a review as I wanted to reflect for a while."

The park itself was beautifully kept, a credit to the grounds keeping team! It was also very quiet on an evening. I don't agree with description of the lodge as "outstanding" it maybe was several years ago. The pictures on sykes website advertising this lodge are old, it look's more luxurious in pictures, as to reality. I actually thought I'd walked in the wrong lodge, and had to go back outside and check the number on the fence to see if I had the right lodge, the sofas and dining table are not the same as the pictures! Instead there is two old leather sofas, and the dining table and chairs are totally different, and really old and tired imediately making it feel less luxurious. There is a lot of missing information on sykes website about this property and the rules etc. I'd advise checking with park before booking. I was most annoyed that I was told that if I wanted any friends or family to visit me during my stay it was £10 per visitor. I booked a lodge for 3 people and there was only me and the dog! They allow visitors free if there spending money in the bar/restaurant no problem! I've stayed in a lot of these lodges over the years and for value for money Its disappointing. I wouldn't stay in this lodge again nor would I use sykes again. There is a lot of road noise like the other reviews state, it didn't bother me though. The hot tub was nice to use but even that was old and tired. To top it off sykes refused my top cashback claim even though I've followed the procedures ...shame on you sykes !!!

  • "A beautiful site & lodge, a shame the restaurant & coffee shop were closed throughout our stay."

Reading previous reviews I agree with the comments on the traffic noise & trains sounding their whistles, even through the night! To solve the problem of the hard beds the very obliging managers gave us extra duvets to put under the sheets to cushion them. I would like to see coat hooks for outdoor coats, storage space for things in the shower, & mirrors! The only mirrors were above the washbasins & a very small portable one which made hair drying difficult , certainly no full length mirror. The living area was large & comfortable, the decking spacious to sit out on. All the reception staff were friendly & helpful. Rather than rush round to leave for 9am we left on the last afternoon.

The beds all have hard mattresses but saying that the park is very well maintained and the staff did everything possible to help us with any issues we had. The lodge is as described and there is some nice welcoming treats on arrival . We enjoyed our stay and would return.

  • "Beaconsfield is a beautiful holiday park."

The lodges are well spaced out and very well maintained. Access is good to the park and it is in a good position for visiting many places. The facilities in the lodge are excellent and we enjoyed using the hot tub. Our only niggle was that the mattress was a bit hard for us. We would recommend Beaconsfield and booking with Sykes Cottages.

  • "We loved the location of the lodge, which was a good distance from other lodges in the park."

The site was very quiet which we expected. Check in was good with expert instruction on where to find our lodge. There was a welcome bottle of Prosecco (which we didn't expect) which was lovely. The lodge was very clean and well presented with two double rooms, one with a en-suite. Beds were firm which we like. Only item missing is a mirror in the main bedroom, ie when using the hair dryer. The hot tub was fantastic and the main reason we booked this lodge. Kitchen facilities were excellent, we self catered so make use of the appliances. There is a restaurant on site which was very popular not only with those on site but visiting guests, pre-booking is essential although we didn't visit for dinner this time, did have a coffee though. Lovely grounds with a couple of small fishing lakes to walk around.

Great to end the day in a nice warm hot tub recommend that to anyone. Things I did not like not being able to bring visitors in with out paying for them seems a bit over the top . The restaurant was the best food is fabulous some would say on the expensive side but you get what you pay for and this is well worth it a must try .

  • "My partner and I stay in different lodges around the UK four or five times a year and never usually go back to the same location."

In this instance however, we saw that Callow Lodge 2 (which we had booked through Sykes Cottages in September 2016) was available. As we had enjoyed that lodge and the location facilities, we booked it again. Really looking forward to the spacious lodge and good sized hot tub, we checked in. We new where the lodge was situated on site and proceeded to its location to find another family in occupation. It was then we realised we had been given the keys to Callow 22, not Callow 2. This lodge, although having all the same internal amenities, was smaller in floor space, had a smaller hot tub and was situated on the main road to the rest of the lodges in that area (Unlike Callow 2, which was the last lodge on a road to the maintance yard and therefore rarely used). When I complained to reception, I was told that all the other lodges were full, therefore reluctantly, had to accept this lodge. Do not get me wrong, the lodge was as good as Callow 2, but smaller than we were expecting. Within two days we were asked to call into reception where the staff admitted it had been an administrative error on their part. As compensation they offered us a £50 cash back and a £50 voucher for the next time we stop with them (As stated above, we never usually go back to the same place so will not be using that). The site is adult only, has lodge and tourer facilities, has a good onsite restaurant and the grounds are kept immaculate. There are also good fishing ponds within the site that hold large fish. The staff were always very friendly and obliging. I would have no hesitation in recommending this location to others,

We were very disappointed with all the rules. There was no indication from yourselves about the very strict rules about visitors, they were only aloud 2 at time from 10am till9pm at the cost of 10pound per person and of course they had to book in. If they stayed later you would be fined about 50. pounds. We have.never stayed anywhere with so many rules and regulations,it 'really spoiled the holiday for us as we have a lot of family in the area who were hoping to visit us.

Would definitely visit again. On the down side, the lighting on the walkways to the lodges is very poor and you have to be very careful not to walk in duck droppings. A torch is a must.

  • "The grounds are lovely and very well kept but this comes at a price because from early morning to mid afternoon (continuously) there is a constant humming/buzzing sound which we eventually found to be the industrial lawnmowers which obviously can be heard no matter where it is onsite."

Even at such a distance the sound is enough to wake you up of a morning (before wanting too) and when it actually got to us one early morning the lodge was physically vibrating and of course very, very loud. This place really is lovely and the lodge was perfect but 5 days of that continuous humming/buzzing took away the tranquil, peaceful element of which would have make the trip perfect. The hot tub may also have too much chemical in it. We used this every evening but the next day come away with irritable itchy skin. This may be a sensitive skin thing but this did happened to us both.

. everything was perfect. However, two very small things... although it was dog friendly, you couldn't take them into the onsite restaurant, or into the cafe nor could you leave them in the lodge.. so not that dog friendly really! and the wifi didn't extend beyond she coffee shop. My boyfriend and i really enjoyed our stay, so relaxing and peaceful. We also took our Westie with us, she's an old girl and likes routine, she also loved it there! I was able to just totally chill out and my bf enjoyed hours of fishing, just a stone throw from our lodge. Upon leaving yesterday morning, i was very saddened to leave, we enjoyed it that much. We will definitely be returning later in the year. We can't praise the complex enough, all the staff were very friendly and also helpful. It's a 5* park, and deservedly so!! Loved it!!

  • "This was the first time we had stopped at Beaconsfield Farm Holiday Park."

On arrival first impressions were good. Well maintained areas around the Lodges and Caravans. Two good sized fishing lakes and the caravans segregated from the lodges. Booking in was quick, easy and we were directed to our lodge in no time at all. Being able to park next to your lodge is a bonus as in other lodge locations we have stayed at, you left the car at the entrance. Callow Lodge 2 was clean, spacious and comfortable with two double bedrooms. The hot tub was secluded and private. I had booked a two bedroom lodge with the intention of my Brother and Sister in Law staying for two nights on their way down from Scotland to London. However, I was told this was not allowed unless I paid an additional fee. It was also pointed out that, although their were two double bedrooms, Sykes cottages advertised it for three people, when clearly the lodge was set up for four. Another aspect of the booking that was not pointed out by Sykes Cottages, were the number of rules you had to adhere too. No vehicles with commercial markings allowed on site. Check in had to be no later than 7pm. Any guests had to be booked in at £10 per person per visit. Only allowed to visit between 10am and 9pm. Visitors cars were to be left at the entrance. No use of the Hot Tub after dusk. Although these rules did not detract from an enjoyable holiday, I feel that Sykes Cottages should have notified us prior to arrival.
