Nicknamed ‘the gateway to the highlands’, Strathyre is surrounded by forest, mountains and panoramic views. On the edge of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, glimpse views of Loch Lubnaig (perfect for canoeing) or nestle into a forest glade and look out for Pine Martens and Red deer as you tackle mountainside hikes and wild woodland trails. Enjoy days out to Blair Drummond Safari Park and Stirling Castle, or hire bikes and jump on the National Cycling Route 7 and Glen Finglas Loop – then stop off at Callander’s best pubs and restaurants.

Pick up the Rob Roy Way for some enjoyable lochside walks or head up to the Lodge Forest Visitor Centre to explore the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Nearby Callander is most closely associated with the Rob Roy legend. Shop for souvenirs on the busy high street before escaping to the banks of the River Teith for a peaceful picnic.
